step one: gather some clear glass vases, ornaments, ribbon and scissors.
step two: fill the vases with the ornaments and tie some ribbon around them.

here's another vase-
see what i mean about ribbon? it is such a cheap way to add a creative touch!
here is the rest of our christmas decor, minus our tree and our nativity- (oh, in case you can't tell, our decor theme is color! i bought all our stuff two years ago at target after christmas. i spent no more than $30 on everything - including all the decor for the christmas tree!)
mantle with stockings, greenery, nutcracker, candles
we are putting up our christmas tree this weekend. i am having a whole debate in my head about real trees and fake trees. i have always said that i never want a fake tree. i think the whole cutting the tree down yourself has always been one of my favorite traditions. where we live there aren't many great places to go to do that. at home in california there were numerous place to go that were fabulous. i think those places ruined me for anything else.
anyways, fakies are way cheaper since they'll last year after year and they're less messy too. but, i know they will all go on sale like crazy after christmas. so, do i buy a fake one now and pay full price? or, do we get a real one and then get a fake one after christmas when they're on sale???? which is cheaper? i don't know. i am having a tree dilemma. help me make a decision!

I wanted a fake tree to save expense and hassle. But when we first married, my husband insisted on a real tree. Eventually, I decided that my husband didn't ask for much, and if a real tree every year made him happy, then it made me happy. We'll spend much more over the long haul. But that's okay too.
Fake ones look just as good as real ones these days. Just buy an evergreen candle and no one will even know its fake!
Hey Carissa! Loved the decoration!! I'm going to try the vase idea! About the tree...here in brasil everybody uses fake trees, but since I live in the country-side now, I decided to get a real one this year. The thing I liked about it was not having to open the fake tree and every single branch on it. But that's how my fake tree is...I'm sure there are better ones now a days...that are easier to open up. I got a smass real tree so it isn't messy at all.
fake tree is the way to go. We have always had one and they are much cheaper. We spend the extra $70.00 that we would have spent on something else for the kids or us. Plus last year I bought a clearanced tree for like $50.00. It was 71/2 feet tall and Plus I got all the decor that was on it because it was a floor model. Its super pretty too. Ill eventually post a pic.
So, I'm pretty sure we have the same decorating style & decorations! I did the same thing 2 years ago after christmas(I was engaged, so I knew I needed a lot of decor for our apt) and I loaded up at Target!!! That is too funny & I tied my towels like that too! I'll have to post my pics!!!
Love all of your decorations, the tree is especially pretty!!!
