eggs. not to be confused with eggos.i like them hard boiled.
i like them sunny-side up.
i especially like them in chocolate cake.
hunter likes them too.
he especially likes them off mommy's plate.
the only problem? hunter's body thinks they're bad.
really bad.
so bad that it landed him a few trips to the hospital.
no more eggs for hunter.
yesterday we found out he is severely allergic to eggs and anything containing eggs.
i also learned that there are several other words that sound nothing like egg but indeed are eggs.
ever heard of "ovovitellin?" those are eggs. along with "livetin," "simplesse," "albumin," and the list goes on...
time for mommy to start reading a whole bunch of labels.
time to start substituting baking powder, vinegar, gelatin, yeast, water, and apricot puree for eggs. who knew?
athough, i somehow don't think that scrambled apricot puree will hardly do. i think it will be more like a counterfeit.
here's to hoping that he will grow out of this allergy by the time he's 5.

oh no! I am so glad to find out now! aww me and hunter can allergic buddies. I was told not to give eggs until after a year but I notice some of the earths best foods have eggs in them. well maybe it is just egg yolks which would be ok cuz the protein is in the whites.... I am glad you know now and can carry your epi pen!
he is actually allergic to both - egg yolks too! bummer. he can definitely be your allergy buddy. : )
I think he'll grow out of it Carissa. My friend's son here is allergic to lactose, which I think is a lot worse!! Everything has milk in it! His daddy was too and grew out of it, so she's hoping he will too. :)
I am thankful it's just eggs. Would be so much worse if it was a lot of things. If you are really good about avoiding them I'm share he will grow out of it or should I say his body will forget he's allergic to eggs.
We'll pray that our Hunter outgrows this food allergy!!! Poor little guy! :(
You can also use apple sauce in place of eggs/oil for most baked goods. It cuts out a lot of fat and makes whatever you are baking really moist.
