in awe of the Gospel.

"for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life." john 3:16 is a verse that most of us know, most likely memorizing it as a tot in sunday school. it is one of those verses that becomes commonplace, because you don't even hardly have to think about what you're saying when you recite it; it is so ingrained in your memory. which is good and bad - good because you know it and won't ever forget it; bad because it is easy to overlook the grandeur of the truth it brings... the truth of the Gospel. oh, the beauty that lies within the love of the Father to send His Son -Emmanuel, God with us - so that we could be near to Him!

i find myself in awe of the gospel today... a place where i should be much more often. after receiving a generous gift last night from some dear friends, i feel like such an unworthy recipient. which led me to thinking about the grace that God lavishes upon us and how undeserving we constantly are of His immeasurable gifts. the reality of the risen Christ gives us an eternal hope of spending all of life with Him.

Jesus bids us to follow Him with extended arms saying, "come to me." i am rejoicing and am beyond thankful that "the Gospel attracts... the Gospel bridges that awful chasm, and brings the sinner across it (charles h. spurgeon)."

may my heart's cry be that of longing to be with Christ, just as he bids me to come to Him. thank you, Father, for your unmerited favor and grace upon us reckless sinners.

I agree, Beautiful. The Gospel is the Gift of all gifts! You and I have been shown it in the lives of our friends. We have much to be thankful for, and a God who cares for our every need.

the your husband said part confused me cuz I was like since when did Chad start reading blogs! lol! We need to catch up. maybe we will pop by and say hey when we come all the way out to Goose Creek tonight! Its funny you put that verse in the blog cuz when it was the advent verse this past sunday it awakened my heart to the loveliness of it when I am so dull to it bc it is just one of those known verses!
