taking your mane from lame to tame

this is lame.
not only is this a terrible picture, but look at my hair! people often ask why i always wear my hair in a ponytail... this is why. it is a thick bird's nest full of curls. i do love my curly hair and the versatility of it, it just takes a whole bunch of time to give myself a decent do.

can i just tell you that it takes me at least 35 minutes to blow dry my hair when i do it curly! isn't that insane!??? and, if i do it straight the real way (i.e. with a straightener) it takes just as long.

when i don't have all the time in the world (which is most of the time) i go for an almost straight look. i say "almost" because if i really wanted it straight i would have to use a straightener or use a brush while i blow dry. i hardly have the patience for that.

i have to stick to a 15 min hair routine (15 min is still long, though!) - i brush it, run my favorite new product through it and blow it dry.

meet coconut milk. my favorite new product. and, its cheap. it runs $4-6 and it will last several months. it tames my mane. it is what i use to help fake my straight look without using the straightener.

ta-da! this is tame.

my friend styled my hair right after she cut it (several months ago - because i only get my haircut like 3 times/year. yikes! i know.). my hair never looks like this when i do it, so i had to take a picture of this.

sometimes my hair just wears me out. i know, such a petty little thing... especially to dedicate a whole post to it. : )

how do you do your hair? if you have curly hair, what are your favorite products (criteria: they must be cheap and not the fancy salon kind. sorry gals.)??? if you have straight hair, what do you use? i want some hair advice.

p.s. - i bought the baby girl bedding!!! i got three receiving blankets, crib bumper, sheet and skirt for $34. yippee.

you are so brave buying that bedding!!! lol, I would have done the same thing! I actually bought beth a girl outfit, because it was on sale and so darn cute, but now she's having a boy! :) lol. I'll just have to save it for her next one, (or maybe I'll have a girl before her).

Anyways, for my curly hair, I have been doing this thing recently where I use herbal essences "curly" mousse, and then defussing it, and then making it "not so scrunchy" and do the flat iron over top my bangs and a few of the curls just to give it a more wavy look.... lol, that sound way to complicated!

I'll have to try your product though!

You are just adorable! I enjoy your blog...thanks for sharing! My hair is fine. Fine texture that is. It is boring and flat. I dream of thick hair. I use expensive products in hopes they will make my hair thick and beautiful! So far...no luck! Merry Christmas!

I keep my hair short so it want get wavy. Cut it about every 6 weeks. So I spend a lot more on hair cuts then you do. I use anything cheap. Love the Avon mousse($2.99 on sale)and any thing I can find at Grocery Outlet works for me. Not such good advice - HUH?

Read and follow the book "Curly Girl." I'll bring it to church to let you borrow it sometime soon. I've read it and then stopped doing what it said, so now I have to do it again because this winter has severely dried out my hair.
