thus far

at the end of every year and the dawn of a new one, i often become reflective and hopeful. reflective over the past year and all that it entailed - the joy, the trials. hopeful over the year to come and what the Lord will bring into our lives.

i read this from, (of course) morning and evening. i couldn't not share it with you:

"the words 'thus far' seems like a hand pointing in the direction of the past. but the word also points us forward. for when one arrives a certain mark and writes 'thus far,' one is not yet at the end, there is still a distance to be traversed. more trials, more joy; more temptations, more triumphs; more prayers, more answers; more toils, more strength; more fights, more victories; and then come sickness, old age, disease, death. is it over now? no! there is still more -- awakening in Jesus' likeness, thrones, harps, songs, psalms, white clothing, the face of Jesus, the society of saints, the glory of God, the fullness of eternity, the infinity of bliss. o be of good courage, believer, and with grateful confidence raise your Ebenezer: thus far the Lord has helped us, for he who hath helped us hitherto, will help thee all thy journey through. when read in heaven's light how glorious and marvelous a prospect will your 'thus far' unfold to your grateful eye!" - charles h. spurgeon

as believers, no matter what happens in 2010, we can be hopeful and joyous over our home in heaven for all of eternity!

what was the best part of your year?

Beautiful!
The best part of my year...feeling God's love and peace in the midst of trials! The trials were not the best part of course, but God proving himself faithful and sufficient was a deep experience for us. It gives me courage now because I know that no matter what 2010 brings, God IS with us.
