we got to meet our best friend's new baby boy on friday! it was so exciting and he is so cute with a full head of dark hair. he and hunter are going to be bff's. it was so sweet getting to hold him:
then, kelly and i had a little date (totally free by the way! thanks especially to the henderson's for taking such good care of hunter)! i used to work at the coastal cupboard (almost 2 years ago! i can't believe its been that long!) and we are good good friends with the owners. they just started something fabulous... cooking classes! so, they called us and said that we were welcome to take any class for free. they're cool like that. guess what class we chose??? the one on chocolate!

eric battles, a local chocolatier and owner of sweet teeth chocolate, taught us all about truffles, mousse, caramels, tortes, and macaroons. it was fabulous. the best part? getting to eat everything he made! we certainly had a sugar overdose. it was a great little date!
then some serious unforeseen family situations arose that we were saddened over which ended our night on a sour note. we certainly had much to pray about, and if you pray, pray for kelly's family's safety. i'll share more later if it's appropriate.
saturday morning hunter woke up with swollen eyelids. this has happened once before but then gradually went away throughout the day. so, we figured the swelling would go away eventually. after he woke up from his morning nap he looked absolutely pitiful. his entire body was swollen, you could barely see his eyes, he was covered in a red rash and thousands of various sized red bumps. it was the saddest thing.
i rushed him to the hospital. i was completely freaking out. i could tell he was getting really stuffed up so i was afraid that whatever was happening was affecting his respiratory system. the doctor and nurses kept saying, "oh wow" or "what did he get into" or "oh no. poor thing." -which, by the way, was not comforting. they gave him some steroids and benadryl. we had to stay at the hospital for several hours so they could monitor him. by 7pm that night, he was back to himself. thank goodness! kelly was at work that morning, he had rehearsal for the christmas concert, and when he met me at the hospital and saw hunter he was completely shocked. kelly was so not expecting it to be that bad.
i had to take hunter back today for follow up. he was just fine and looked completely normal; they couldn't believe how different he looked from the day before. the doc said it was most likely an allergic reaction and not a virus. but that they couldn't rule anything out. umm, clear as mud. so, this week he will have a bunch of allergy testing. we are thanking the Lord for taking care of our boy and that it was nothing more serious! i get to carry around an epi-pen in case it happens again. i am sure i would be too freaked out to use it. hopefully i won't have to!
this upcoming week is what i call an "only christmastime kind of busy" week. it will be so fun, though! we have a christmas concert to go to, holiday parties, dinner parties, oh yes, and a very special date is coming up next saturday! - our 5 year anniversary! yay!
this was us on our 1st anniversary. we ate our cake topper - it was absolutely divine, just like our first pieces of it on our wedding day. we look so young and trendy. now we look at the trendy clothes and can't stand them. we are getting older. hopefully that means we are getting wiser too!?!? : )

I was so concern about out little Hunter. But I'm glad he is better. You had quit a day. I tried to call, but there was no answer. Grandpa goes for his second round of Chemo tomorrow. Pray it goes as well as the first one did. He has had no symptoms.
