do you live on a budget? (if not, you probably should. especially in this economy. just saying.)
are you a mama?
if your answer was yes to any of these q's, then you must meet natalie....
the busy budgeting mama.
enjoy the interview! i know i did.
1. how do you organize/plan your meals for the week?My goal is to pick out recipes that catch my eye so that I buy ingredients that I will actually use and not let go to waste. being pregnant I have to see something before I want to make it..so all these wonderful food blogs help me out so much! I scavenge them for great recipes. I go to the grocery stores twice a month to get the supplies for the recipes that I don’t already have on hand. I am soo wanting to tackle the whole coupon world…my friends have pink coupon binders that are so cute haha. That’s on my to-do-list.
2. when it comes to design - i.e. web/blog design, what are some do's and don'ts? Hmm I don’t know if I’m pro enough to give any do’s or don’ts! I think the main ‘do’ that I can think of is jump on in and you’ll be surprised how much you can learn from just looking up tutorials online! That’s what I did for a lot of my post production work. I learned more Photoshop tips on you tube than from my graphic design class in college! I’ll be posting soon the sites I go to on a regular basis to learn more about blog tricks/photo-editing/web design.
3. why do you blog? When I first got married and then had my daughter, Sophia, I found myself nursing with one hand and reading blogs with the other trying to find ideas to make my house a home, cook something yummy for dinner..and look good while doing it..all on a budget. I found myself wanting to share all the great stuff I had come across and I just fell into blogging from there! The community part is also really fun and I enjoy interacting and learning from my fellow bloggers! I have met so many amazing women through blogging!
4. do you have a money saving tip when it comes to decorating your home? My husband and I both do ministry…hence we are on a budget. So I’m all about the look for less. So my strategy is..1.) know or have an idea of what you are wanting..and go on the hunt for it! Marshall’s..target..ikea.. garage sales.. 2.) DIY ideas…there are so many fun ideas out there, I try and showcase as many as possible on my blog 3.) Paint. That is the best bang for your buck when it comes to decorating a space.
5. what is your favorite dessert recipe? oooo…how can I choose!! carissa you know me too well..i have a sweet tooth. My all time favorite dessert (as of now..because I’m finicky like that. hehe.) is my mom’s Apple Crisp recipe from her betty crocker cookbook that I grew up eating. I suppose the fact that there is fruit in it makes me feel like it’s healthier than it really is. And I’m all about tricking myself like that. Haha. If you want to try it out.. go for it.
thanks natalie! you are super.
if you have fancy ideas to help us busy budgeting mama's, do tell!

What a great post! You are sooo right in this economy everyone needs to budget....I am gonna check out her blog! Sounds Awesome! I recently started the coupon thing and it is awesome! I bought the cutest coupon holder and other than the traumatic experience of me dropping said coupons all over the floor of the grocery store than looking around to make sure no-one seen before picking them up (LOL) it has gone great! I am such a dork....hahahahaha
O.K. anyways I love DIY projects and finding good finds at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Homegoods.....

You guys are so fun! I'm glad that I've stepped into a fabulous blogging community too! It helps so much to have other young mamas to read about!
Just got back from reading your Q&A over at her blog, ya'll are too cute! I love having a community of Mom's to relate with, especially on a non professional level. ;)
LOVE this! Thanks for sharing! I haven't had a chance to head over to her blog yet...saving that for naptime:) but I know I'll love it! I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some budgeting and money saving tips!
Love the blog swap!

I love your blog! I found it today and now I'm following! You have great style.
That bbm is one fabulous chica...you are too!
love your blog! And your name too haha. The best way I save money is by making my lunches and avoiding coffee shops. My coffee maker does a better job anyway!
hi carissa! i love your blog too! it's filled with such goodies. :) and can i tell you how much i love the name Hunter? that is the most adorable name! and i cannot wait to meet your baby girl. :)
I'm not a mom at all, but these tips transcend mommyhood and just work for daily life! I like your explanation of why your blog is called "lowercase letters" btw. :)
Great tip! I'll have to check out the bbm.
i adore her. so glad you did a write up with her. you both are such cute + beautiful mama's.
wished we all lived in the same city :(
bbm - of course i think of my black berry messenger.
however... i AM busy - i AM on a budget - but the mama part? not for a while. so i guess i'm not a bbm :( hehe.
being a mom my mind went into the potty gutter and though Bowel Movement! ha ha
i found her blog while stalking *i'm sure that's where* thanks for posting!
This is fun! :) Enjoyed reading! As some above me said, I'm not a mom...but I'm a total budget-aholic. I'm working on mastering couponing so hopefully I have it down to an art when we have kiddos and the budgeting just gets more tough. I find most of my inpsiration from others..especially in the blogging world. Dave Ramsey's envelope system has worked wonders for us...and we are all about cash, especially for groceries, eating out, and our "blow"/spend on whatever money. I am coupon crazy and have enve turned into one of those that plan the coupon scenarios and get free stuff at stores with the right coupons. I posted a way I organize my coupons here:

Hope it helps. :)
Your blog is so cute! I love it.
I'm a new follower. Please check out my blog when you get a chance.

What a fun interview! The thing that surprised me the most about blogging was the connections you make with people and how close you really become! It's awesome!
Now if only we could all meet in real life : )
I blog about saving money too... I am heading over to check her out now. This is a great idea!!
I love reading all your stories! I've been on your blog for the last 30 mintues and can't seem to leave.
Great blog girl, great blog!!
great questions and helpful answers.
i'm getting a kick out of your blog,
because i have bloggers chide me
for only using lower case letters.
it's not completely true. i always
capitalize the One who clearly
deserves it.
blessings,
lea
How cute are you both?! I want to be a better budget-er (is that a word?) I am SO guilty of loosing patience though and just buying it. Then I hear of people who get paid at the grocery store because of their coupons-errr, I need to learn the skill/art of patience ;)
Thank for the motivation though!
so much fun! So are you both pregnant right now? how adorable!
This looks like a lot of fun! Very interesting! I checked out her blog as well!
Great tips!! Thanks so much for sharing her blog, I will check it out!
ah, 2 for 3! so close!!
love her blog though! and the interview!!
You 2 are my new faves!! I love reading both of your blogs so much. And I love that Natalie has a sweet tooth - we're in the same boat!
