miscellany monday.

{1}  today i found my beloved febreeze fabric spray that i couldn't find for forever.  have you ever been guilty of spraying your dirty clothes with it, just so you could wear them one more time before washing?  i have.  don't judge me and think i'm gross.  i'm just resourceful.

{2}  meet uncle jay.  he keeps it real every monday morning by sarcastically reviewing the weekly news headlines.  he banters both sides of the aisle and will have you rolling in expressive amusement.  here's my favorite:

Play this video

{3} i lose every. single. ounce. of my brain when pregnant.  last night i made myself attempted to make myself a grilled cheese for dinner.  after the 3rd attempt that resulted in a burned up mess, i said forget it.  instead i settled for strawberries.  no cooking involved.

{4} speaking of losing my brain, yesterday i discovered i had forgotten to flush the toilet on two occassions.  kelly was working so i couldn't blame it on him.  forgetting to flush is just nasty.  this baby has devoured my brain.  okay, no more self divulging, embarrassment at my expense.

{5} in my recent etsy voyage, i discovered some striking goodness that goes by pomlove.  wouldn't these be perfect for a wedding, a bridal shower, a baby shower, or a baby girl's nursery?

i love mondays because of this list!!

pregnancy brain. oh man...i'm so victim of that as well. it's so awful. but it's also so nice to know i'm not the only victim!!

strawberries are probably healthier than grilled cheese anyways.

do you also just throw your clothes in the dryer to 'un-wrinkle' them, instead of ironing?! i do!! :0)

I remember pregnancy brain...I think. My husband makes the BEST grilled cheese. And yes, I have done that with Febreeze...there, I said it!

Hi Carissa! Great post today :) Thanks for sharing Uncle Jay's vlog, I'll have to start checking him out now :)

Oh I so understand the pregnancy brain stuff. There is no hope for me, I'm still recovering from the first one. Now, to join you in your incrimination...I forget to flush ALL the time. Not good.
And...Uncle Jay cracks me up. :P

Very funny stuff! I constantly tell people that I lost most of my brain when I delivered my babies... I can't call it pregnancy brain because I never got it back.

And as for the febreeze, I had just sprayed a pair of jeans before reading your post this morning! Our secret, k?

I forgot to flush the other day and I'm not even pregnant - lovely!

Kelli @ RTSM said...

I've never done the febreeze thing, but I have put a pair of dirty pants in the dryer with a dryer sheet so I could wear them one more time:) Those pompoms are adorable!

Love love love it all. And i've messed up a grilled cheese before (and I like mine burnt, so it's hard to do) but it stinks because it seems like a such a long process to get it all ready again. Ha!

Mrs. Jennifer said...

Grilled cheese rules - low and slow (heat), extra cheese, real butter. You can do it!

I'm not pregnant, and I lose my mind anyway! (In fact, I've been so forgetful lately, I even had to check.. Nope, not preggo, just crazy!) I forgot to write a whole paper... and I have never ever done that in my whole life!

Love it! I have never used febreze for that but what a novel idea! ;) And I lose my brain too when I am pregnant... I am ridiculously clumsy on top of that. I'll have to check out that etsy shop, those are gorgeous

oh my goodness those pom poms are so cute!!
and i love febreeze. i could spray it everywhere every 5 mins and it sill couldn't be enough!!! haha. maybe i should really clean once in a while! the worst thing when making a grilled cheese is for it to burn!! better luck next time!

Katie said...

bahaha! girl you kill me on the fabric spray! I love your honesty because I do that too! Do you ever take them to your hubby to get a second opinion? My hubs is like, "seriously?" But you know the saying, pants never get dirty! haha

Lauren said...

Those flower thingies are sooo pretty!! I need (well, may be I just want) them!! The grilled cheese story is too funny!! But strawberries are super yummy!!! : )

Yikes, I'm a little scared of pregnancy brain!

Nicole Marie said...

i forgot to shampoo my hair in the shower and i'm not pregnant so i have nothing to blame it on!!

Brittany said...

Don't worry, I've used Febreeze on dirty clothes, too. There have even occasions where I've just overloaded myself and my clothes with body spray.

I wouldn't recommend that though... Febreeze is much better.

Stephanie said...

My brain is still gone from having a baby 16 months ago!! I guess once it's gone, it's gone. You are not alone!

julie said...

Are you hinting at something with the poms? I don't think I have enough time to get those for your shower! ;) they are super cute though!

My mom used to always say "If you forget to flush, I will assume that also means you forgot to wash your hands"! I love the little poms

First of all, I, too, lost my brain while pregnant with Allie Claire. Sadly, I feel sure I left it at the Womens' Center after delivery.

I made pom-poms for a friends bridal shower and they are super easy to make and look great!

Heather @ Gerber Days said...

Haha! You are so cute. I actually HAVE been guilty of spraying my clothes with febreeze to where them again. On many occasions! I never thought of it as being resourceful, but I like it! Glad I'm not the only one that loses my brain when I'm preggo. My problem is I never fully recovered.

ThingsToDoWithKids said...

I don't miss pregnancy brain(or lack there of). LOL and way to use your rescources with the Lysol. There's just somethings you gotta do when your a mommy. I've never thought about that before, but it's a great idea. I generally go with perfume or body spray. But now my son is at an age where I end up as dirty as he is and there is no way to get away with wearing something twice without a wash.
I love this list. Too cute.

I've heard that about 'pregnancy brain'. Not looking forward to that--I am so organized and a perfectionist so that will drive me crazy! Hoping to get my tips from the marriage conference posted tonight : ) Hope you had a great weekend!

Haha! I love #1. I actually have never used febreeze, but I have been known, on occasion, to rub deodorant directly on the inside of my shirt/dress if I had to wear it before laundry day. It's all good... :) And thanks for your warm wishes today!

Congrats on your pregnancy. Back in 2005, when I was very early in my pregnancy with my 3rd, what tipped me off that I may be pregnant, was when I went to the drive thru ATM and withdrew 200.00 and then left it in the machine and drove off! duh. So I know all about the pregnant mom brain thing! But luckily for us, your blogging hasn't suffered!

Lavender and Lilies said...

I laughed out loud. Seriously. It was hilarious.

Uncle Jay is hilarious, I'd never seen him until you pointed him out, thanks for the laugh! I'm sorry your brain has been muddled, but hey on the bright side strawberries are healthier?

I love the pomloves.
As for the pregnancy brain, a friend of mine is a doctor (oncologist) and she read a research recently, and it said that after about 18/24 months after the baby is born, your brain will be back to normal.

Hattie said...

I hate pregnancy brain. The bad thing is you never quite get it all pack after you have the baby! Love those poms so cute!

Pom poms are so cute! And from experience I can tell you that they are very nice at weddings. I helped my sister make hundreds of these for her wedding. It's actually really easy!

I am obsessed with poms! I made like 15 for Raleigh's party and so should have made more! Also, you can make your own febrezze...Im obsessed! You just mix 1 part fabric softener to 4 parts water! That way you can pick your scent from all the fabric softener scents!

Lesli said...

Forgetting to flush the toilet... dishes... oh wait... I forgot to do the dishes on purpose!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog from Friday Follow. :)

Dear, you always make me laugh! You're so real, you tell is how it is and you admit your shortcomings. That's why I love ya! As for flushing the toilet, don't feel bad, I'm not pregnant and I often forget... hey, life gets busy ;-) I know, gross!

Trina said...

Yes! The poms are super easy to make! I made some for a baby shower and had a few friends help so it would go faster, but all you do it accordion fold some tissue paper, trim the edges, secure the middle with wire and unfurl then hang. Super easy!

Joyeful said...

You crack me up!! At least we have an excuse for the mommy brain, right! I just wonder if it will ever come back... ahh, well, who needs to use all of their brain anyways. : )

Love the pom poms! They would look adorable in your little girl's room.
