we all have them. some of us {me} are worse than others. i'm pretty quacky about my quirks.
first, there is a difference between the trash cans in our house. some are called clean and some are called dirty. no, they don't wear name tags. it's just a given {oh, and don't worry, when my hubby doesn't remember which is which, i'm quick to remind him... just as quickly as conan left the tonight show. sorry conan.} basically, the only trash cans that are actually to be used are the one in the kitchen and the one in our bathroom. all others {there are six of them} are off limits. yes, that means they are just for looks. because apparently a trash can is essential to the decor of a room. if we have guests over i have to prepare myself. and after they leave i go visit our clean trash cans and make sure they remained that way. if not, i have to make them clean asap. i mean asap. i also empty our two dirty trashes at the end of every single day. i like to be trash free.
i can't stand metal hands. whenever you touch anything metal {i.e. - car keys, door handles, clothes hangers in stores, etc} the metal makes your hands smell... like metal. it is beyond gross to me. that smell makes me sick and feel a great distance more than dirty. i immediately have to use my b and b works hand sanitizer and wash my hands as soon as a sink comes in sight.
what's your biggest quirk? i'm on a quest... i want to find the quackiest quirk. you might be the winner. we'll just have to find out.

ha ha the trash can cracks me up!!! my husband would probably put a piece of paper in the 'clean' one just to make me freak out! :o)
mine are simple things...if one hand gets wet i have to wet the other...if not it just feels weird
probably the weirdest that drives my husband insane...if i see a pencil i have to rub the eraser in between my fingers!
Oh my gosh! I hate to touch newspaper! I cant stand it!
Also, Im always picking at my kids, cleaning thier ears, cutting their nails, cleaing bellybuttons!
I have to sleep with two blankets at all times...ok this is getting embarrasing..I should stop now!
Love this post! I would have to say my Quacky Quirk is the dishwasher magnet sign! See it says Clean/Dirty on it! Even if I know the dishes in there are clean or dirty the sign has to say it....it drives the hubs crazy cause I will say are these dishes clean.... I can't tell the sign says dirty LOL....even though I know they are clean....I'm sooo weird that way....
Oh and I don't like the smell of keys (metal) either....I can use more sanitizer in a day then some people use in a week LOL

Too funny! I hate that metal smell, also. I'm trying to think of some quirks, and I'm not coming up with much. I almost always subconsciously take off my wedding ring when I'm typing at the computer. I'll be doing something else and then panic because my ring is gone, but it's always sitting on top of the router in the office, and I won't ever remember taking it off!
Ok mine is really weird!
With bake wear[really nice stuff or even if its just pretty] I can't stand stacking stuff on top of one another, so I seperate everything by papertowels because I don't want them to get strached! Lol!
The trash can thing is funny but I'm the EXACT same way!

Your quirks are hilarious!
Okay, so my Quacky Quirk is a bit TMI but here goes...
When I go potty (I have a 3 yr old so I call it "going potty", don't judge me) I MUST have the faucet running or I can't go. I absolutely HATE the bathrooms that have a motion sensor on the faucets. If I'm with someone I make them stand with their hands under the sink to make the water run so I can go. LOL! I'm a weirdo, I know but I've done this for about 12-13 years now.
I hate the smell of newspapers, they reeeek. I'm constantly cleaning out garbage cans and if someone puts trash in them with out a target bag, I have to clean it right away.....
I cant stand using coasters, I need to fold a paper towel to place my mugs on. Weird! I know!
hmmm, I've got lots of quirks... the one that comes to mind right off the top of my head is that I NEVER drink a bottled drink down past the label. (Does that make sense?) I feel like once it gets down to the bottom part of the label it starts tasting flat. Gross. or if its a bottle of water it tastes warm and I cant stand warm water... oh, and I dont like pastic cups. (like the hard plastic, reuseable ones you get at like a ball game) I'm okay with a Solo cup, but those hard plastic ones smell like PLASTIC and make your drink taste like, well, PLASTIC... yuck! Ha...
LOVE the trash can quirk. i'm trying to think of something. well one i know for sure is that i have to use an odd number of paper towels when out in a public restroom. i think it's because when i was younger we checked to see how many times around you had to turn the handle on the dispenser at the library. and it was 23. so now i have to use either 5 or 9 paper towels. NEVER EVER 7. and i don't like the motion sensor ones for that reason. and sometimes quit at 3. but it drives me batty!
i also only eat ketchup with my french fries when we go out to eat, because it's 'warm' i hate eating cold ketchup with my fries at home. so i never ever do. :0)

I think I will need a whole blog post on things I like and don't like. I'm a classroom teacher, and my students say I'm OCD.
My quirkiest things are my eating habits:
I hate 2 liter cokes. They taste different. A 20 oz. is a little better, but it cannot be refrigerated because it tastes different. A can coke is the best, but I can't open it - start drinking and then get in the car with it. It tastes different. It also doesnt' taste the same if you take the tab off the can.
Should I tell more? HA! I might have to blog about this soon. I'm in need of a good blog topic.
Okay, totally lovin' everyone's quirks. It's good to know I'm not the only one. I definitely have my share of quirks, but probably the quirkiest of all of my quirks is washing my hands BEFORE I go to the bathroom (and after, OF COURSE). I collected that quirk from working too many years as a nurse. And happily found out that I wasn't the only one :-)
i brush my teeth with warm water.
i eat doritos with a spoon. ALWAYS.
unless i'm at a resturaunt (where i will suffer with a glass only if they can provide me a straw) i will only drink diet coke out of the can. And not 20 0z. bottle either. CAN. i would rather drink it room twmp out of a can than use a glass and put ice in it!
i use loads of baby powder after after shower. So much that my husband has made me step BACK in the shower stall and apply it there since we got our house, so i can just wash it down the drain.

Along the lines of that one- i don't allow my kids to each anything cheese powder covered in the house- smartfood, cheetos, etc. Only if we are going to the beach- that cheese smell does just. not. come. off.
I will not touch the outside of milk containers. If I'm the only one at the store (meaning I can't make the girls or john grab it) i will use a wipe, tissue, a coupon, anything to grap the handle of the gallon with. THAT smell makes me vomit.
i will not drink any drink that's been sitting out any length of time, nor do i let anyone else. It drives my sister crazy, if her soda has been sitting out at a cookout i dump it. She's like- I WOULD HAVE DRANK THAT. i had to save her, since she refuse to save her self fromt he grossness of it. ;)
i'm going to stop now, lest you start trying to find me to send the white coats. ;)
I was jsut reading the other comments- i wash my hands beofre and after going to the bathroom too, i never thought it was a quirk, just good habits.

mine would be furniture. i move some piece of furniture daily. i have it angled or lined up exactly where i want it & if you move it . . i will know and i will at that very moment put it back in its place so that the earth can start turning again :)
i also have to sanitize my hands after leaving any store & wash them immediately after i walk in the door @ home - but that's not weird, that's just good common sense :)

This is such a fun post! I am SO relieved to hear I am not alone in my quirks!! I wash my hands before and after going to the bathroom too. I also hate newspaper, don't like to touch it, don't like the smell. I always wash my hands after touching metal! :)
One to add would have to be about my laundry. I have 'cleaner' and 'not cleaner' and I wash them in different loads. Like if something is full of mud or grass and dirt from mowing... I don't wash that with the ordinary everyday laundry. I know... strange! :)

One of mine is that it drives me nuts if someone leaves a room and doesn't turn the light off behind them. Another is when the toilet paper is under instead of over. I've even been know to change it at other people's houses! The last one would have to be that I can not go to sleep if the closet door is open. I mean how is the boogie man going to hide in there if the door is open! Ha, but really I can't stand it!
I have so many quirks. I can't count :)
But I am just totally OCD about lots of stuff!

I, at the moment, am utterly quirkless. I am a recovering OCD'er and would LOVE to stay that way. I used to brush 9 to 12 times a day... to the point where the dentist said I was brushing my teeth away. He told me the maximum I could brush was 7. SEVEN? That's it. I felt like life was over...

I guess one of my quirks is that I can not leave the house with out all of the beds made, and the dishes put away. Seriously, i'll make my family late for anything just so I can get those two things done. Just a little Type A.

this is a great post!! One of my quirks is I can't recycle the newspaper without having read it cover to cover. I was a journalism major so I just love reading the newspaper!
And this one occurred in my latter years - but I have to make up the bed every morning. I can't stand to leave the bed unmade.
My BIL is very OCD. One of his many obsessions is cabinet doors. He can't stand for cabinet doors to be open. We love it when he comes to visit and we purposely leave all the cabinet door ajar. DRIVES HIM CRAZY!!

Hahah, these are great. I have to wash my hands like 100 times after touching anything from the library. I can't help but imagine all the awful germs on everything....
I have too many freaky freaks to even get into... I listed them all on a blog post at one time, but the main one is that I can not stand to touch anything rough, like sandpaper. It makes me hurt all over if I do, like a weird chill passes over me! Weird! This is especially hard when I need to file my nails or anything, because the nail file makes me cringe!!
I put my lipstick on in the morning before I eat breakfast. I can't stand to have all my makeup on without my lipstick. Of course, I have to reapply after I eat. Love your blog!
quirks-- I am quirky about pillows. My husband says I am a bed snob. I want the covers to be tight and straight...all the time.

I am weird about sharing milk. I can't do it, can't! I can share soda, water, a shake, beer...but milk-YUCK!
I also have issues with the way that markers sound on paper. I go NUTS when I'm in class and the students start writing with markers. They all know it too!

Your quirks are cracking me up! : ) I have so many quirks, too, it's hard to pick just one! I definitely am weird about leather. I love it, but I can't stand the smell of it after it's been worn for awhile. So that kind of rules out beautiful leather coats and boots and even belts for me.
Oh I just hate that metal smell too! Hmmm. My biggest quirk...I know there must be many but I'm drawing a blank. I hate fingernails on a chalkboard. I also can't stand hair on anything like sinks, showers, etc. It gags me. I could never be a plumber, that's for sure! :)
i cant sleep with the closet door open either! but its because my mom told me when i was little that if i did i would never get married. (old wives tale.) im obviously married now because i always closed my closet door! :)
