solo cups. and toilet paper.

3.26.2010

attention anyone who ever has a party:

you better buy these. they are fantastic. genius. i only wish they were my idea. each cup comes equipped with a surface to scratch your name into. no more lost cups! no more lost sharpies! no more drinking someone else's water (which you thought was yours and then realized it wan't when you tasted sprite)!

and, on a slightly different note... (these two items are related because they are both paper products... yes, one is for your mouth and the other for your behind... let's not get confused.)

our good friends over at cottonelle, conducted a very important research study, dubbed, the great roll-over debate. 72% of american's polled roll the t.p. over. 28% roll the t.p. under. what are the over advantages? you have much more perforation control, a better viewing advantage and it allows for wall avoidance. huh. i'm so glad we all can be more efficient with our rolling, thanks to this study. glad to know i've been rolling right all these years.  how do you roll?

  2. Those cups are great! We are always searching around for a sharpie at all our family gatherings! And I am an over person that just doesn't understand how anybody can be an under!

  3. LOL....glad to know I have been rolling that way all my life! Good to know! LOL....

Ooooh genius idea on the cups! Putting those babies on my shopping list!

  6. Those cups are wonderful, plus they save you money because people don't use 3 cups each!
I roll over for sure, still working on my husband though....Grrrr!

  7. Those cups are fantastic! And I definitely roll over the top! Have a great weekend.

  8. I totally roll over it really throws my OCD in a frenzy if I come across a roll that is under or "backward".

  11. I hope they didn't spend any money on that study...

    Love the cups - genius!

  12. I have used those cups in the past and I too wished I had thought of them. You go through half the cups then you normally would. Also interesting with the toiletpaper poll. I don't even pay attention to which way I roll, guess I will from now on.

  13. When we first got married we used to FIGHT about how to roll the toilet. Not taht I really cared, I thought itwas stupid that my husband cared so much about how it rolled. I guess now i'm trained because we roll OVER.

  14. Must have solo cups! I had no idea there was such a thing! On other cups when you write your name on it, even with Sharpie, it smudges and you can't read it. This idea was genious!

  15. Those cups are ingenious! We're always hunting for a sharpie, and then you have my MIL who washes and reuses all of her disposable cups, so they have names on them from like ten birthday parties ago. Talk about confusion.
I don't care how my tp rolls, just so long as it's in arms reach. :P

  16. I tried those solo cups before--very cool idea. And as for the TP rolling, I was talking to my roommate about that and neither of us had ever met someone who rolls under!

  17. thank you for the excellent product review.
you don't get any rollbacks from this, do you?
    :)

every Christmas, spring break, and summer
i have a houseful of kids plus their friends
    stay at our mountain home.

the most important rule of the house: pick
your plastic cup and PUT YOUR NAME ON IT.
we also have decorating contest, etc.

so glad they have made a special place for
    that now.

  24. Funny that you write about this today because I was JUST thinking about this yesterday while I was in the restroom (TMI?) It's such a pet peeve of mine for it to be ROLLED OVER. There are two rolls side by side that you can use, and if it is rolled under, I use the other one. Pathetic, I know. But it drives me NUTS!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. ROFL....I totally roll over the top!

And yes, those solo cups are genius! Love it.

    Happy Friday!

  29. haha! this is a hilarious post! and i am totally an "over" kind of girl. that's so the right way to go. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm super "type B" and could not care less about which way I put the roll on....HOWEVER...When my brother and I were still living at home he'd get mad when I'd put it on wrong, and now my husband get's mad too (they are both over's) BUT I say...I'm the only one putting them on?!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Genious!! And Carissa dear, I would have never known about them if I hadn't read your blog. That's why I love you!

  52. definitely over : ) Drives me crazy when it's under!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. LOL! I love your random hilarity. ^_^ I'm lame, because I'm a big germ freak, so if I'm at a party and I have a drink, I simply get the drink, guzzle it down, and then throw it away. haha. I don't tell the people who bought the supplies that though...cuz they'd probably be mad. ha!

And yeah....it's a MAJOR pet peeve of mine when people have toilet paper rolled under!!! GAH! It annoys me to no end. So, OVER! :)

Hope your weekend is utterly amazing!

  60. I roll the correct way...over! and yes, those cups are absolutely genius. we totally do the sharpie trick in our family...and they never work just right. if you have any condensation on the cup because you forgot to write your name before pouring your drink, you're outta luck. thanks for sharing this genius product. And I ask myself the same question all the time....why didn't I think of that?!

    enjoy your weekend!! :)

  62. Hi! I saw you on my sister's blog and thought you looked like a friend of mine (although I knew it wasn't her, it just made me curious about you). :)

Anyway, those cups are a fantastic idea! I wish I had the brains to invent things like that. You know, things that really make sense! ha!

I'm an over roller and think that under rollers must be unique individuals because it just doesn't make sense to me to do it that way. HA!

Well, I just wanted to say hi.
    Very cute blog.

  70. I, the Design Apprentice, have been rolling incorrectly for the better portion of my life. This confession was not easy to write, but liberating none the less. I always rolled under because it seemed to spin faster. I will now roll over. The wall does in deed get in the way. In this case, I will cave Cottonelle and America. If only this were our nation's biggest turmoil. :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. too funny. cups look awesome! i want to try them now. :)
    xo.

  72. Over for sure! I have to turn the roll the other way when I see people doing it under. Haha. I found you on Cassie's blog. I'm following you now. :)

  75. This was really cute!

LOVE those cups! I will definitely be getting those next time I have a big party. They are perfect.

I'm an over roller. It's because I like to fold the end of it into a little point like they do at hotels. Just kidding, I'm not that crazy!! That's how my Mom did it, so that's how I do it!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Love the cup idea!! So clever!

andddd I like when the TP is over :) hehe

AND being a MOM is a huge job. So scary in fact I don't think I could do it and am holding off for a very very long time. Maybe forever. Is that bad?! Thanks for being so quick and leaving a comment for me tonight :) xo
