typical.

first... gina is the winner of yesterday's quackiest quirk.  there's no prize.  just the satisfaction of knowing you're completely quacky.  i say all that in love.  she is seriously so funny.  go visit her blog.  this is her winning quirk: "I will not touch the outside of milk containers. If I'm the only one at the store (meaning I can't make the girls or john grab it) i will use a wipe, tissue, a coupon, anything to grap the handle of the gallon with. THAT smell makes me vomit."

anyways, on to my days...

in retrospect, i feel like i squander my days.  i have an abundance of things to accomplish but they just don't seem to be getting done.   does this happen to you???  please say yes so i don't feel like a failure.  why is it that in the middle of the day i feel exhausted and completely out of anything remotely resembling energy?  i don't get it.  or maybe i do... i've been sick {for like 3 weeks}, my one year old has had an endless double ear infection with fever {he is on the mend, thank goodness} and i'm 7 mos pregnant.  maybe these things are good excuses?  i hope so.

so here goes my typical day.

-wake up when hunter wakes up.  usually between 7:30 and 8.  i would love to be one of those "professional" moms and wake up before the babe does.  i can't seem to do it.
-8 am: breakfast time.
-playtime until 10 am.  if i decide i'm really going to rock at momhood and wifehood i prepare a crockpot meal at this time.
-10 till noon: sheer bliss.  nap time for hunter.  i study the Bible, workout, and take a shower.  yes, this means i'm not ready until noon.  see what i mean about squandering?
-noon: lunch time.
-after lunch it's play time and/or errand time.  yesterday during errand time, i looked down, past the baby bulge, at my thighs while driving...  i realized that my thighs are showing.  what in the world do your thighs have to do with your uterus?!!!  apparently if one gets bigger the other one does too.
-2pm-3:30 or 4: more bliss.  nap time take deux for hunter.  this is when i try to get things done.  like cleaning, writing my grocery list, computer work {i.e. - blogging... can that count as work?  please!}
-after nap, it's more playtime until dinner at 5pm.  this is when i wished i would've done the crockpot thing.
-7pm - hunter goes to beddy-bie.  kelly and i relax together and hang out.  it's always a sweet time.  we go to bed way too late.
-goodnight.

i read this verse {a sweet blogger posted it and it served as a huge reminder to me!} and want to make sure i'm making the most of my days...
"serve the Lord with all your heart; and do not turn aside after useless things that cannot profit or save." — 1 samuel 12: 20-2

It doesn't sound like squandering to me! It sounds like you're enjoying your life and not asking so much of yourself that you get overwhelmed. You're doing great!

Seriously what do many body parts have to do with making a baby? Not fair...
I'm SO envious that H doesn't wait up till 8! My Little Man wakes up at 5:30-ON THE DOT-and then proceeds to wake his sister up. They both then proceed to have dance parties at 6:00 in the morning on a daily basis. It's like a Lion King and Princess and the Frog dance club every morning. (Those are her Fav CDs right now) That's a blog post for you, ha!

carissa,
your day is probably EXACTLY like mine...add a baby on the outside and we're golden!
may you just take a moment to thank hunter for

1. getting up at a reasonable hour
2. taking two naps
3. going to bed at 7

(notice how it all revolves around sleep time!!)
and may i just ask what you are doing to work out at 7 months pregnant?! good for you girly!

I never get up before my kids...in fact on Sat they wake me up:-) The perks of a being a night owl I guess. My day looks a lot like that and I have school age kids. LOL! It sounds to me like you are enjoying your little one while he is little. Before you know it, he will be at school and you will miss all the play time.

love the post. and my thighs showed BEFORE i had a baby bulge...so i don't know what my excuse would be. :0) it's all in the name of love!! i've been meaning to email you, but haven't yet...obviously! and wanted to say thanks for all your sweet comments. and that you commented on my wordless post "that's as sweet as sugar"...well i totally thought you 'got' it because of that comment but said that to not give it away to anyone else. lol. so if you wouldn't have said you didn't get it...i wouldn't have known. :0) and also if you're remotely interested in cloth diapering...let me know. it really is easy. and will save you a ton of money in the long run. especially with the two of them going to be in diapers. and now i'm rambling. so i should've emailed you.

oh. and i only have ever gotten up before my kids a handful of times...until this baby. i can't sleep with this pregnancy. it's not even being uncomfortable or anything. just wide awake. so i've been up at six all the time lately. which is nice for me to get some blogging done i guess. but i'd much rather be in bed asleep!!

Thank you for mentioning me (so sweet). You are for sure not squandering your time...raising our kids and being wives is our number one ministry on this earth...don't let the enemy lie and say you aren't serving the Kingdom by changing diapers and cleaning the kitchen...because you are!!

Love it! I'm so with you on that 5:00 hour when I ask myself why I didn't throw it all in the crockpot in the morning. I SURLY wouldn't waist naptime doing it, ha!

Have a completely unscheduled, sleep in till noon weekend! :-)

Your day sounds much like mine does! Praise the Lord for kiddos that still take two naps!

I feel like that all the time! There is always so much to do and never enough time or energy {or will power} to get it all done! I think we just have to do what we can and live with life not being the perfect picture in our heads:)

That is one of my favorite verses.

And what in the world does your uterus have to do with your thighs? Aww, geez. We women, get pulled through the mill during preganacy. My oldest stuck his foot in my rib consistently for the last 2.5 months in utero.

Thanks for the reminder.

I love your day!!! I will write a post about my typical day and then I will admit to the world that someone who decide to live in this city is just PLAIN CRAZY!!!!!! You will see!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I love "meeting" new people! I am hardly ever dressed before noon, I wish I could be ready before I drive the boys to school but I would rather sleep, LOL!!

Hattie said...

Your routine kind of sounds like mine! Don't feel bad about not waking up before your baby does. Most of the time my boys have been up causing trouble way before I get up! So far they haven't caught anything on fire, wondered off outside or landed themselves in the emergency room while I was sleeping! Ha! (knock on wood) That's a great verse!

Not sure how I stumbled upon your blog? But I did...and I love it! How far apart will your two babes be? I have to that are pretty close in age...18 months. You will LOVE having them close together :)
Just wanted to leave a comment so you knew who was reading along!

Ask away on questions! Although I doubt I'll have any great answers ha! :)

Seriously though, there is nothing sweeter than having two babies. And as far as the age goes... my motto has been "you just make it work" !!! Seriously! That and lots and lots of prayer :) :)

So glad to have found you!

I know how you feel! Sometimes I wish I could do more too...my energy doesn't last long. Two things make my days a little bit harder: Tiago only takes one nap and I have to cook for lunch and dinner (we eat homemade food for lunch and dinner here in brazil). Most days Tiago and I eat leftovers from dinner or I cook for lunch enough to last for dinner. Plus we don't have as much frozen or "almost ready" meal options...it's all from scratch! I get REALLY tired of cooking sometimes! It makes it even harder that this is something REALLY important to Marcos...he has high expectations for dinner every night. Sometimes I fail at meeting those expectations (especially pregnant!).
Other than that, the only different thing about our days is Tiago goes to sleep at 20:30 - 21 (because Marcos is only home around 20:30) and wakes up around 8:30 - 9. AMAZINGLY, I have been able to wake up at 7 the past week...it's something I want to start getting used to doing (because of Larissa too!). BUt sometimes it's extremely difficult to not wait until Tiago wakes.
God bless you! All these little things you do are what make your home special, and therefore your family special and loved. That is your most glorious mission on earth: your family!

Just found your blog and am so enjoying it.

First of all, I came your way because one of my daughter's is named Carissa. Don't find too many of you. :)

Secondly, I always love to read blogs of young mommies who aren't afraid to have a few kids close together. (I had my first 5 babies in 4 years.)

Third, my passion is to encourage and support young mama's who are looking for that "older woman" mentor ... even though I don't feel "older". (While I do have 6 young adult children, my two youngest are just 8, so I have a lot of mommy years left.)

Look forward to reading more.

Laurel :)
