because not all cookies have to be baked.

our sweet sage had decided to give her mama some drama (hopefully this is not a sign of things to come) and as such, the doc ordered this mama to rest.  rest.  rest.  and then rest some more.  i know, you're probably thinking... sounds good to me!  i agree... although it's a bit of a challenge to rest while tending to a 14 month old.  let's just say that baby einstein and thomas the train have had their fair share of viewings.

anyhow, yesterday i finally felt really good {for a few minutes at least} and thought, what better way to spend those good feeling 15 minutes than to make some no bake cookies.  so, that i did.  i also figured that since i've lost 4 lbs i could use some sugar.  {don't worry grandma, i'm not trying to lose weight... it just happens at the end of my pregnancies apparently, and i'm sure the fact that we haven't had any good sweets in the house for several days played a part.}   thanks to my bestie, i have this fantastic no bake cookie recipe.  and thanks to me, you can enjoy it too.

do you have a variation to this recipe or other no bake cookie ideas?  if so, please share!  you'll put a big smile on my face and probably a few pounds on my thighs.
p.s. - sorry for no picture of a no bake cookie.  although they taste good, they don't photograph well.  trust me, they look like a mound of mush... probably something to the likes of a reindeer pie.

Oh, girl...those are hands down my fav cookies EVER. My mom used to make them for as a kid. I still love to eat the cookies when they are still warm from the pan. Now I want to bake them SO bad!! haahaha

LOVE these cookies! This is the exact recipe I use. Praying the rest of your pregnancy and your delivery goes off without a hitch! Blessings!

Those sure sound yummy! Let's face it, anything w/ peanut butter, cocoa, and oats is bound to be delicious :-) Sorry to hear about your bed rest...how much longer do you have? A friend of mine is in the same boat, and she has TWO little ones running around! Can you imagine? Hope it will pass quickly (hey, that means more blog reading time, right?). Oh, and I've heard that the tough pregnancies = easy kids, and the easy pregnancies = tough kids! :-) Have a great day Carissa...

Sound delicious but I can't have them!! Does anyone have any 'gluten free' no-bake cookie recipes?!?!

Eat some for me!! :)

I love those coookies! They are so yummy and you are right...it is hard not to gain 5 lbs eating them:) I posted a recipe on my blog a while back, but I think mine is pretty similar. I do know taht I usually cook mine a little longer than one minutes so they don't end up too gooey!

Megan said...

They sound yummy! I'm going to make them this weekend! You and baby Sage are in my prayers!

Jessica @ This Blessed Life said...

YUM. If I wasn't on a no-sugar diet currently I'd be pounding these babies down! Oh, and we've had our fair share of Baby Einstein days when I didn't feel good, either! So sorry you're on bedrest now - hope your baby girl stays out of trouble for you! ;)

Yummmm! I LOVE those cookies! Thinking about you as you near the end...
Try and take it easy as much as you can! You are going to be super busy soon. :)

The recipe I always use is similar, but minus the milk and vanilla (and maybe the butter and salt..I can't quite remember...?) I love no bake cookies!!! :)

Hope you're able to get the rest you need. It's definitely not easy to do with a little one around.

tea said...

Oh yeah, I remember the butter now..probably the other ingredients too. Gosh..I feel silly. I haven't made them in forever.

Domesticated-Bliss said...

those are hands down my favorite cookies :) You could also make rice krispie treats - they're no bake also!

Kelli said...

I made cookies yesterday as well...chocolate chip! My mom used to make no bakes all the time, brings back memories. Try and get as much rest as you can.

Jill said...

Yum, I'll have to try these! You better rest up girl!

I love no bake cookies, and will be glad for my oats to come in from the co-op so I can try these. Sorry your sweet Sage is already pulling the girlie drama card. (hee) Mine is already giving me fits, and I just made it into the 2nd trimester. :sigh: Hope you some people close by that can help out with your little guy, because I know how challenging it is to take care of a toddler when you're not feeling the greatest.

No bake cookies are my FAVORITE, oh my word!

I'll say a little prayer for you and Miss Sage that she continues to 'bake' until she is ready!

Have a wonderful day!

No bake cookies sound good to me! And as for something a little sweet for you, you might want to check out my blog. Something got posted that I think will rock your day...:-)

Charisa said...

one of my favorite cookies! A funny story..I used to make these alot as a teen and one time I put way too much vanilla in them. But we ate them anyways. My grandmother came in (point of note is that we had a severe alcoholic in the family we were all dealing with at the time) and my grandmother thought we had all been drinking by the smell on our breath and in the kitchen....crazy :)

Mandy said...

Those do sound good! My recipe is basically the same but without the cocoa~ I'll have to try that! 'Hope you're getting some rest~ I bet your little guy is loving the movies! =)

We may not-bake these today!

I've only had no bake cookies once I think. Those sound good I just might have to try them! (before Monday of course :)

This is one of my family's faves, too. I think that is the exact recipe that I use as well, except for the cooking time on mine says to boil for 2 minutes. I'm not sure which time is right, but I do know that it matters for the consistency. I think that too short makes them gooey and too long makes them crumbly. On my original recipe from my grandmother, it has 1/2 c. chopped pecans as an option. My family prefers nut free but I have used crunchy p.b. and it was really good. I actually made Rice Krispie treats last night. Yummmmm!

Rest for yourself and baby Sage. Will keep you both in my prayers.

I LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. no bake cookies! Seriously, could eat an entire batch. With a big glass of 2% milk. YUM. And I'm pretty sure my recipe is identical, if not VERY similar.

Bekah said...

Okay, that is so funny because that is the recipe I always use to make no-bake-cookies. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that recipe. SO amazing.

So get this. My family is doing no sugar for the whole year of 2010. Like no sweets, fatty meals, etc. It kills! So I can't use that recipe until its 2011...but still. It is a very delicious recipe, haha. :-)

Love,
Bekah

Carissa, these are my husband's favorite cookie...in fact, we have vowed not to have them in the house much b/c we don't seem to eat much else. Is that bad? Hmmmm...

My other favorite no-bake cookie (well bar) is the butterscotch/peanut butter/rice krispies (or some other cereal) with chocolate on top. Yes, I'm sure it has a name...but the coffee hasn't kicked in too fast this morning ;) Scotchies?

Hope you are able to get plenty of rest!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE no bake cookies!!!! I've made them SO many times I have the recipe memorized! lol I've made them more than any other cookie =)
Hmm well my recipe doesn't call for salt and I boil them from 2-3 minutes. (normally like 2 1/2) The boiling part is the trickiest I think because if you boil it to long it then the cookies turn out dry and if you don't boil it enough then it turns out runny... its kinda weird.
These are totally my favorite cookies because you can just cook them in 15 or so minutes and then be done! =) They rock!!!

My only variation is more cocoa and pb:) Yummy! Actually, I think I'm gonna go on over to the cookie jar and get 1 right now!

Thank you for stopping by my blog and for your sweet comments. I will totally take your advice and really enjoy my free time now! I try imagining how I am going to manage a babe with all my current activities!!! Take care of your self and little Sage:)

Hey Carissa,

I have a good recipe that won't widen your hips/thighs! :) I found/made this recipe for these no bake cookies when on the daniel fast and I REALLY needed something sweet that didn't involve sugar and butter, and have made them a bunch since then. They are really good. Not sure if anyone else has already posted this, but I did notice someone else asking for gluten free recipe of this. I don't know if this is gluten free - but it is vegan! :) I used all natural peanut butter too.

Those cookies are some of my favorites...so easy and so good. We called them Preacher Cookies when I was growing up, because if you saw the preacher coming down the lane, you could whip them up by the time he arrived in order to offer him a treat. :) That's how the story goes, anyway. We love them around here!
