i try not to laugh.

so, you know when your kids (or anyone's kids, for that matter) disobey but it's so hard not to laugh at them?!  i find myself there a lot lately.  it's like hunter turned one and all of a sudden learned how to be disobedient.  oh wait, i don't think it required any learning... it definitely came natural...

approaching the forbidden bookcase:
look at his eyes.  i'm pretty sure that's how mine look when i see a giant chocolate anything.  these books are so tempting for him; which can only mean one thing: you're looking at a future valedictorian.  (sidenote: he takes his easter balloon everywhere... it was the best $3 ever spent.)

he just can't help himself.

once he realized that mommy was watching:

he made a mad dash (balloon in hand) while laughing hysterically.  i'm pretty sure no one had to teach him how to do that either.

i try not to laugh... instead i take pictures of the violation... i'm pretty certain this is going to disqualify me from the mom of the year award.

Oh my gosh...aren't those the most precious photos ever! Hunter is so cute! And it's the little things, like the balloon, that will make kids the most happy!!

Hope you're felling well! Have a great weekend!!

Debbie said...

Would taking pictures of temper tantrums disqualify me?

Hunter is SO stinkin' cute. Just wait girl, the best is yet to come. I STILL can't help but laugh! Emma just gets this look on her face as she looks at me with these devilish eyes and I can't help myself.

Oh wow! Love this! That pic of him right before he pulls the books off is extremely HILARIOUS! It's just so tempting for him!

I would have been rolling on the floor :)

Steph said...

hahahahhahaha! So funny! I have pictures of my son around the age of 2 with toilet paper COVERING the bathroom after he had emptied a roll all over. I sternly told him not to move...as I ran and grabbed my camera. :)

I heart kids!

Love that he loves the balloon!

Happy Friday!

Rachel said...

Love the pictures!!! That's been the "story" of my life for many years.

Oh, by the way, I get that look in my eyes when it comes to coffee....;)

Hannah said...

HAHAHAHAHA! What a cutie! All my siblings did that too...wait, did?! Some of them still DO! :-)

He's adorable, and those pictures are great. Those are the ones you're gonna wanna pull out at his graduation/wedding. Do you remember when you did this...

Summer said...

You crack me up! I love the pics you captured of Hunter making a get away with balloon in hand! Such a clever multi-talented little boy LOL....

You so get mother of the year and then some for being able not to laugh, not to let him see you and taking a picture girly that takes talent LOL....

Kelcee does things now and says things that I know you shouldn't laugh at so when I put her in time out I find myself walking quickly in the other room and giggling so she can't hear! Kiddos do the funniest things....

Have a Happy Friday friend

Oh and thank you so much for the sweetest comment ever on my blog yesterday!! I have not been feeling well and out of sorts and your comment made my morning

xoxo

He is so cute Carissa!! Those eyes... man Ive seen those before in my boys. Oh and I still laugh sometimes with the boys disobey me. Its hard not too.

Mandy said...

Have no fear, you're still in the running! And he's so cute! We are constantly turning our heads and/or burying our faces to laugh at some crazy thing our kids do... the important thing is NEVER let them see you because it's over when they do! Have a great weekend!

Miranda Tucci said...

I absolutely LOVE THIS!! I love how he takes that balloon everywhere - he's so adorable!! I couldn't help but chuckle while I read this ;-)

Beth Priest said...

I totally understand. I mean last night I told darby to come on and go to bed in my stern parenting voice and she and all her sassiness said, "shhhhh! CARSON IS SLEEPING!" I mean what in the world!?!

hunters progression in those pics is the best ever! I don't think you are disqualified for mom of the year award at all but if you don't win maybe you have a shot at best story told by pictures award!

Melissa, Multi-Tasking Mama said...

Love it! And taking the balloon everywhere is priceless. BTW- taking pictures of everything makes you a good mom =)

Mrs. Hesson said...

Hilarious! His face in the first picture cracks me up. :)

I laugh at Addison all the time - definitely no award here either!

finn drags his balloons around too. it's hysterical how much fun he can get out of a freebie from chick-fil-a!

Shelby Bukhenik said...

haha no disqualification in my book! A mom who can't laugh at her child is having no fun at all and lets face it when they are freshies we have to laugh once in awhile or life would stink for us!!

I love that "I know I am doing something I shouldn't" giggle!

Jill said...

His eyes in that first picture crack me up! It's like he's thinking about how he just hit the mother-load!

Shelli said...

I feel you girl. Finn is into everything and when I tell him No he pitches a fit and gets so mad. He LOVES to pull books off of his book case. It's a game now. I put them up and he pulls them down. I guess cleaning up books isn't so bad!

brookesbabble said...

hahahahhaha... Those eyes!! He looks so excited...That's definitely how I look when I see anything dessert. At least he's eyeing books... hah! And the balloon? That's my favorite part... I love that he is carrying it around everywhere! He will love these pictures one day. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be the mom trying not to laugh and taking pictures also... Have a good Friday!!!

Cynthia said...

He is SO CUTE! I would find it hard not to laugh when he makes those faces either...

Isaac does the same thing and I keep telling myself that I am going to have to stop being so amused at his shenanigans one of these days...

Stephanie said...

What a cutie! I can't believe you already have another one on the way! You are going to have your hands full :)

ThingsToDoWithKids said...

Oh my, he looks like he just won the jackpot. Note, my son is 2 and still takes everything off our book shelfs, not that he's taller it's 10 times worse...so this is just the begining =)
Balloons are always a nice way to make a kid happy. Do you have a 99c only store or a Dollar Tree near you? If so, they do sell the pilar balloons for only $1. Cheapest toy ever for a toddler.
Atleast now you have photos to show his future wife all of his disobediant moments. Have a great weekend.

Kelly Marie said...

hahah! I love the photographic evidence!! I always have to walk away when my niece does something wrong & my brother tries to discipline her. I start giggling because she's so cute!!

Carrie said...

That is so true! We still laugh when our kids do something wrong...not when they can see us of course! Especially when they tattle and the 'crime' is just too funny! He is so so cute! Emily used to do that with our dvds...they were always on the floor!

xoxoKrysten said...

Not that I have kids, but I know whenever my pup does something bad I have a hard time being mad. I think it has something to do with his puppy eyes.

Meg Fletcher said...

That's awesome! He's so cute I don't blame you!

Taylor-Made Wife said...

that is adorable. I still think you'd be a good competitor in the mom of the year contest:)

Carrie said...

Oh, just wait! The fun will really start soon when you say that terrible "N" word! There is nothing worse than the fit that is thrown when momma says, "No!" Maybe Hunter will miss all that :)

Anne said...

How precious is he?!?!

Ok, so I'm not a parent yet, but I am really bad about laughing when little kids cry - not like cry when they are hurt, but cry over something silly, like not getting what they want. When you can tell that it is fabricated and they are totally just trying to get sympathy. Or crying because they are legitimately upset but it is about something really silly. Does that mean I will be a horrible parent?

Stacey said...

The pics are GREAT! I love that wild eye he's got going. :) I'm the worst at not laughing, I have to turn away and shake silently. Especially when my son sticks out his bottom lip for added drama. Kills me everytime!

That made me laugh out loud too just by witnessing through pictures...good thing I wasn't there! :) I do that all the time with my nephew...I won't win "mom of the year" either. (I even have to turn my face in the classroom sometimes or hold my tongue when I wanna say "way to go" when someone dished out a comment toward someone else that I really shouldn't let them get away with. ha!) And that balloon..too funny!

Sabrina said...

Such cute pictures Carissa! I'm always having to turn my face so I don't laugh while trying to "correct" my girls. They are just too darn funny though. It's amazing how smart our little ones are and how hilariously sneaky they learn to be.

Your comment about how you must look like that when you see a giant chocolate anything made me LOL!

Mine are 22, 19 and 13...the youngest a boy.. (I wont tell you what kind of humor a 13 y/o boy has) I laugh everyday at no no's. Life is funny. Even when kid's are being turds. Even though I laughed when maybe I shouldn't have, I seem to have managed to raise 3 great kids. They all love Jesus (which is my greatest joy) and they are all pretty awesome human beings... who are sometimes turds.. and then I laugh some more.

That is so cute!

I remember my daughter at that age saying, "Nah nah nah" (no no no) as she crawled to the bookshelf to pull them off. She knew she wasn't supposed to, and would even scold herself! But that didn't stop her.

At only 8 months, GG is the same way. She has an idea of what "no" means but isn't sure she likes it and certainly isn't sure she's going to obey it. Her favorite forbidden object, our armoire with our television. She loves it...take your eyes off of her for sec and she's there. You lil' Hunter is too precious! You're right though, those eyes give him away! No wonder you can't keep from laughing!
