miscellany monday.

{1} i want a minivan.  there, i said it.  i'm the one who has always said they'd never be a minivan mom.  but hey, every time i'm in a parking lot and a mom with a handful of kids walks up to a van with sliding doors {especially ones with remote sliding doors} i sort of start drooling.

{2} no.  guam is not going to tip over if a bunch of people populate it.  can someone please tell that to this congressman?!?  umm, is it just me, or does anyone else wonder how these people get elected?

{3} we watched a movie this weekend.  if you know me in real life, you are thinking that this should be a public service announcement... the mere fact that we watched a movie {on our own choosing} is quite astonishing.  i've seen 2 movies in the theater in the past 2 years.  i've seen even less rentals in that amount of time.  anyhow, we rented the movie taken.  wow.  you should see it.

{4} worst recipe ever = chicken breaded with potato chips served with a homemade honey mustard sauce that consisted of honey, mayonnaise and peanut butter.  i should've known better.  but i was a newbie at the whole cooking thing and thought it would be something that was surprisingly good.  this was over 5 years ago.  kelly acted like he liked it {after all, we were newlyweds} but after two bites, he couldn't bare it any longer.  since then, i've managed to avoid recipes that sound like they could be surprisingly good.  you should avoid them too.

{5} anna, from in honor of design is an adorable talent that has a charming etsy shop.  look at this little miss lovely headband {yes, this makes me anxious to hold my baby girl}:

{via 1 and via 2 }

{6}  i hope you had a joyous easter.  i love easter.  i love what it means.  praise God for the hope and joy believers can have because of the glorious cross and resurrection of Christ!

I had a mini van and I would love to have another! My family would never go for it! I loved the room we had! Have a great day!

You totally shouldn't be ashamed of wanting a minivan just get one of the really awesome ones! They have auto doors and tv screens, secret storage and built in navigation. Dang, I don't even have any kids and I want one just thinking about it :)

Also, Taken is an awesome movie!

jon calls my SUV a minivan. It sorta makes me mad. I used to drive a van when I was younger so once I got rid of that I said I would never go back. But those sliding doors are really nice and I see them in the drop off car rider line all the time. They must be all the rage. lol.

I love Easter and what it means too! I was overwhelmed with Emotion yesterday that Jesus lay down his life for us!

Girl I am in the mini van club with the remote doors....I never thought I would be so excited to drive one but girl I love it....especially with my hands full LOL....Greg and I got it when I started getting sick so it would be easier for me to get Kelcee in and out of the van and with the remote doors and all....

That headband is total cuteness and I can so see your precious Sage wearing it....
Hope ya'll had a fabulous Easter as well

xoxo

I want a minivan so bad! That will definitely be the next vehicle we get. I will rock it out. :) Ha!

Kelli @ RTSM said...

I just can't do the minivan thing! I think it goes back to the fact that we had one growing up and I had to learn how to drive in my mom's huge minivan! I will always be an SUV kind of girl. We rarely go to the movies either...it is just too expensive and most of the stuff out there isn't worth my two hours and $20! We do watch movies on Netflix quite often though!

Taken is creepy! But, of course I loved it. Kept me on the edge of my seat (and I had nightmares for days. oops)

I LOOOOVE mini vans! Suburbans are even better. :-)

Easter was beautiful--and the meaning behind it is what makes it beautiful.

I honestly don't know how certain people can get elected. Hubs and I were flipping between the Red Sox game and Celebrity Apprentice last night...let me just say IDK how Fmr Gov. Blagovitch (sp) ran an entire state (he couldn't use a computer..seriously). & I am anxious for you to hold your baby girl too (: Happy Monday girlie!

REally? Oh my gosh thanks so much for the shout out! You are so sweet. Thanks for making my day!
...and I have seen the movie Taken...wow. is all I have to say to that.

-I know, I kinda want a minivan but the ridicule I'd have to endure, lol at least from some I know
-I heard that congressman the other day and thought, were do these people come from? then I heard Rush say he has some kind of hepatitis that messes up his thoughts and that Nancy Pelosi just puts him out there to humiliate him, then I felt bad...
-love that your husband tried to act like he liked the food, I can tell josh doesn't really like a new recipe when he gets done and says "well, that filled me up" instead of "that was good..."

brookesbabble said...

I think I will have to see Taken now! A minivan would be amazing.. I'm not judging at all :) It would be easy and fun for the kids! I feel like my "newlywed" recipes sound a lot like that one... I'm working on them though. Hah! Hope yall had a great Easter and Hunter enjoyed the Easter bunny!

ThingsToDoWithKids said...

Taken was such a good movie!! We had borrowed it from my parents the week it came out and I was completely impressed with it. And, I am with you on the mini van. My sis in law has a van and I love it! I hope you had a great Easter!

Stephanie said...

Haha! I am also one of the "I will never have a minivan" gals. I just can't do it! And that stupid clip of the congressman saying Guam would tip- seriously?!? These are the people that run our country, it's no wonder we are where we are.

Bonnie said...

Hahahaha I love the fact that you are drooling over a minivan... can you believe that day has come for you?! :)

I had so much fun reading this post.. so sorry you had to learn the hard way with that recipe. Believe me, been there, done that, and my poor husband suffered right along with me... we went out to eat a lot when we were newlyweds.

Happy Monday!

xoxo,
Bonnie

PS thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it. :)

ahhh you are a minivan mom!! haha. there are some cute ones out there now. yes. cute. my husband always gives me a hard time because he knows i'm scared of driving a minivan..if he see's one on the side of the road for sale he always go "that could be yoursssssss" hehe.
oh and yay for mentioning anna from in honor of design! her sister was a bridesmaid of mine love that family. :)
ps. still no word on the job. keep praying for god's will!

Debbie said...

lol @ the recipe. I've done something close minus the peanut butter. And I SO want a minivan too, and I say it proudly! Anything to make a momma's life easier.

LeAnna said...

Those little headbands are SO CUTE. I had to crack up at your mini van comment. I think my husband would just as soon we drive a school bus before he would buy a mini van. Actually, we'd probably start out with a 4 door pickup pulling a travel trailer with seats lined up in it. Ha! He's so dead set against mini vans, it's hilarious. Even more hilarious to see what we're going to do when a few more children make their way to our home. :P Have a great Monday!

Iva said...

that is the cutest little headband and picture ever!!! I will have to take a look at her shop! My little girl is 1 and I think one of those headbands would be super cute on her! thank you so much for posting and sharing!! Hope you have a lovely start to your week! :)

Hahaha! It's okay if you want a minivan, this is a safe place. :)

And guam will tip over?! What?! Sheesh!

The chicken sounds gross! Phew...you make me laugh!

Jocelyn said...

Hey, mini vans are great! I am a mini van mom and proud of it! I honestly don't care what I drive though, as long as it gets me there! Vans are awesome for long trips too:-) Yea, that recipe doesn't sound the greatest...sorry!

MollyinMinn said...

Well I have a love-hate relationship with my minivan. Depends on the moment.

But yes, agreed, that chicken sounds horrific.

Lauren said...

that video is hysterical ... I cannot believe these people are making our decisions! I wonder how the officer being questioned held it together! I kept expecting him to burst out laughing ... that's what I would have done! haha

Karisa Tells All said...

Was that congressman for real?? Also, Taken was very good, I agree!

Heather @ Gerber Days said...

Taken is sooo good, and intense. It was a little depressing, as these things REALLY happen! It freaked me out, but was so good.

I too have learned that "surprisingly good" does not mean "actually good."

Heather @ Gerber Days said...

Ps... your minivan comment cracked me up. I think we all have the "minivan Mom" deep within our souls.... whether we want to accept it or not. ;)

xoxoKrysten said...

I just cannot agree with you on minivans. I had to drive my parents' when I first started driving and I HATED it!

Kristin said...

Always love your miscellany :-) Oh and yes, since my strawberry-rhubarb crisp has fruit, it most definitely can be eaten as breakfast :-) Hope you're having a great day Carissa!

Tamara Nicole said...

Ha ha that mini van comment cracks me up. My friend has one (she's a nanny) and she just loves it! I swear I won't ever have one, but I'm up for a mini SUV instead when the time comes.

Super cute list girly, happy Monday!!!

Mandy said...

happy Monday! I was one of those 'hip girls' too that would never drive a minivan, and I just got my hubs looking for one this weekend. I, too, drool over those doors!

Don't worry, everyone has bad recipes now and then~ I tried some Martha Stewart veggies once that turned out terrible. Even Remy said 'This is NOT good!' don't worry, fortunately they always forgive you and try again. =)

Have a great day!

1-yes..nothing about that chicken sounds good. :)
2- I have been watching too much PBS and not CNN so I am out of the loop on the GUAM comment
3-You have GOT to read my post I did a while back on minivans!

I used to say that same exact thing, "I will never own a mini-van, EVER." Fast forward to May 2009, I love my "mini" as I refer to it! Best thing ever! When my girlfriends are in town, I put up a disco ball and it turns into the party van. Just kidding!

Kelli said...

I'm sure this has been said already but I LOVE my minivan (yes, those doors are the best, especially when your child can open them without help!). Ooh, I should rent Taken this weekend...we want to see that, thanks. And yes, isn't Easter a wonderful day...so thankful.

Stephanie said...

Ahhhh, that sweet baby girl with the flower headband is so stinkin cute!!! I love you Monday posts - you're such a hoot!

#1 and #3 me too! I never thought that I would want a minivan, until I saw my SIL's kids climb into it themselves...ahhh...tv's and nice sunroof's ha ha

Happy, Happy Easter!
These posts always crack me up!
Love it!
Okay, really a minivan? I have always sworn against one...because I know that if I ever (never) get one that I won't want to go back. I hear they are amazing.
Ahhhh...I can't wait to see your sweet baby girl too!

Caroline said...

I love that you said you want a minivan!! Ha, I tell my husband all the time I will never have one but something tells me I might change my mind, never say never. Love your sweet photos!! XO

Your baby is so cute! Love that you want a minivan...since Z was born I've been wishing we had a car that was at least higher off the ground! He's still little now, but when he gets bigger it's going to be a pain to get him in and out of our tiny car!

Shelby Bukhenik said...

I love the Miscellany Mondayness!! I keep saying how I WILL avoid the minivan, but my once perceived "mom SUV car" seems to be closing in on me (and we have a one year old and one on the way)!! So, one day i think minivan will be where its at!
Recipes love to deceive you!!

Rachel said...

I loved our minivan. We don't fit it in it anymore....now I drool over large family 12-15 seater vans! :)

Fun post. I love random posts. It's like my whole blog.

Natalie said...

I think someday I'll want a minivan, too haha!
And you're right--taken was amazing, loved that movie!
Hope you had a great Easter, girl!

Abigail Kraft said...

HAHA!!! That video is SO funny!!! I mean seriously....tip over??? That's flat out ridiculous. :)

lol. I've never wanted a mini-van, however, my family does own a rather large and quite conspicuous 15 passenger white van. Half the time, it's really dirty from the dirt roads all around us, but it doesn't stop us from driving through the Starbucks drive through right along with the sharp little Mazda's, and the fancy Lexus clan. ;) Needless to say, we're very popular among the Starbucks employees.

Have a lovely day!
Love,
--Abigail

Haha! I always swore I'd never drive a minivan, but these days they're so cool! All of the space...plus they look so much better than they used to! We never watch movies either. Maybe once a year! Too expensive!

Lesli said...

Girl I am riding the Minivan band wagon also! So glad you had a Great Easter!

Katie said...

hahaha I love that you admitted you want a minivan! I think others do too and don't admit it. Also where did that recipe come from? It sounds interesting, but I will probably not try it after your review. Doesn't it annoy you making something like that and it not turning out well? Have a wonderful day!

I hope you had a great Easter too!

I know minivans are really practical for families and what not, but I just can't get over the "soccer mom" stigma. But who knows... I bet I'll change my mind as girls always do. haha

Carrie said...

I don't have a minivan either but am a little jealous of those glorious sliding doors too..especially when one of my kids opens ours into the car next to us...wait..that wasn't me ;) no damage, but it makes me cringe every time! adorable sweet headbands...can't wait to see that sweet little girl too ;) take care! {and I don't remember the last movie I watched...Barbie in a Mermaid Tale maybe! haha!}

Q, La, and Gooner said...

We never go to the theater either. It just isn't as fun as being at home all snuggled up together. Plus someone once told me that you can get lice by sitting in the same fabric seat. ew.

The headband is VERY cute. Girls are tres fun.

chelsea rebecca said...

that chicken does not sound good! haha. maybe its cause i'm a vegetarian but chips covering chicken? i feel like it should be on http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/ haha {which is a total guilty pleasure by the way!}
hooray for movie nights!! i must see taken!!
love the adorable baby headband. oh so cute!!!

I drove a mini van for MANY years and loved it....This was a GREAT post...

AtOneWithHim said...

I would love a mini van.. there are some sweet vans out there these days. Seriously plush. I'm not ashamed that most of my kids are grown (one 13 y/o boy at home) and I don't have any grand kids, and probably wont for awhile. Mini vans drive so nice.. not like a bus either. Easy to park...
Have you seen the swagger wagon commercials? I think it's Toyota Sienna.. youtube it. It's funny.

Heather said...

Just wait till your driving the minivan, you might feel differently. LOL! I like them for gas mileage over an SUV. Thankful I don't find my identity in what I drive! We can be minivan buds!

oh carissa, hubby and i caved and bought a honda odyssey when i was preggers with our 2nd.

it has power sliding doors, a trunk that opens and closes with a push of a button and a DVD player.
