miscellany monday.

{1} i've lost every ability to spell.  yesterday i had to ask kelly how to spell scarry, i mean scary,  a part, i mean apart, and suttle, i mean subtle.  i used to be able to spell well.  i was in the spelling bee in 4th grade {you can hold your applause until the end} and quickly got kicked out almost won.  needless to say, if i spell something wrong it's because i'm working on our home computer that does not have an automatic spell checker like my hubby's work computer {a.k.a. the mac daddy}.

{2} no, it's not a coincidence that i'm going to be talking about an etsy shop called 2 sweet things as my #2.  my mom bought sage (well really i bought them and then she paid me back... all this new fangled technology such as buying online just blows her mind) the most adorable burp cloths from mandy at 2 sweet things.  the quality and craftsmanship of the cloths blew me away.  look at this cuteness:

these are sage's beloved new burpcloths:

{3} new obsession: pb and {strawberry} j with skim milk on whole wheat.  i've pretty much had this for lunch or dinner {or both} every day for the past 8 days.  i forget how good pb and j is until i eat it and then eat for weeks at a time.  until i get completely sick of it.  what's your latest food obsession?  i'm pretty sure i set the bar low... i'm guessing yours is going to top mine.

{4} speaking of pb and j... i made some pot roast last night.  well actually the slow cooker did.  regardless, i've apparently lost every single ability to cook right along with spell.  somehow the roast burned on top.  i should've known after i realized that we were out of potatoes to change the menu.  instead, i stuck with the roast, believing that my $7.77 meat was going to turn out perfect.  oh well.  poor hubs.  he ended up eating pb and j.  and believe me, he's not obsessed with it like i am.

{5} miscellany monday wants to know if it should be a meme {meme = something everyone can link up to and have their own miscellany monday}?  to meme or not to meme?  that is the question.  tell me your answer.

I love spell check. ..I try to be a good speller, but sometimes I make simple misteaks. ;)
I love peanut butter and jelly too. Only we call it P&J. My son is in love with it right now and he's reminded me of how much I like it.
I don't know what a meme is?? :)

I, too, am pregnant obsessed with peanut butter & strawberry jelly, whole wheat bread and skim milk. Perhaps we should start a support group. :)

Love the Sweet Things! Off to check them out for my new baby too...

Happy Monday!

Well, I'm not pregnant but my current food obsession is homemade guacamole! I'm growing my own cilantro and tomatoes so it makes it that much easier to make...yummm. Is 9am to early for guacamole? ha:-)

Lane said...

My current obsession is equally (if not more) boring than yours! Turkey on wheat with mustard. I have it like every day for lunch. And like you, one day I will become so tired of it I won't ever want to see it again!
Before WW I didn't do wheat...I did white.
I didn't do turkey...I did ham.
I didn't do mustard...I did mayo.
I am making progress! :)

Jessica @ This Blessed Life said...

Sure, why not?! As long as you'll keep writing yours - I love reading them! :)

Cole said...

I kid you not I ate peanut butter toast every single morning for the second half of my first pregnancy. and then Micah ended up being allergic to peanuts! so now I blame myself that it's because I ate too many peanuts. silly I know. so now I sneak to eat pb&j cuz he can't eat it and I don't want to be mean and rub it in his face or anything.

Kristin said...

Thank the Lord for spell check! Oh, and btw, I unfollowed and refollowed, and lo and behold your post appeared in my reader this morning! Hooray! Misc.Mon.s are cute, and would be fun to link up to - or at least read what is rumbling around in everybody else's brain! There are SO many out there though... I'm having another Kindred Connection party Wednesday, and just don't know if it's already adding another player to an already full field, ya know? I guess it never hurts to try!

I lost in the elementary spelling bee for missing the word "lose" i think i said "loose" that one is so tricky! And i'm a tad obsessed with PB&J (I like grape jelly!) Love your monday posts :)

Mmmm, i love PB & Strawberry's too. I don't know how many times i have burned or screwed up dinner, so instead we made sandwiches or ordered pizza, i love that you are so honest about that.

I would totally replace the mantra with the your meme :)

Kelli @ RTSM said...

PB&j can be addicting sometimes! I think I am addicted to junk food:) I sometimes have trouble spelling little words that should be SUPER easy to spell too. I think a meme would be fun!

Cara said...

definitely meme. It would be so fun to have all your followers have miscelleny things and let you know about them!

I always look forward to Mondays so I can read your miscellany monday. it makes me happy. So does the fact that you can't spell and you love pb & j. I can't spell either (I never made it to a spelling bee) and i have a slight obsession with pb & anything (jelly, honey, bananas, etc). Right now I'm obsessed with cinnamon toast crunch..I eat it allll the time.

Meme! That would be such a fun link. I would definitely link up. :)

I hope yall had a great weekend!! Sage is going to be here soon... So excited for yall!

I know I tell you this every time you comment, but really your comments just bring a huge smile to my face. Thank you thank you thank you for always making me smile.

I love your miscellany mondays I think it'd be a great meme!

The trick to a perfectly cooked roast in the crockpot (by itself) is to put about an inch of beef broth in the crockpot, tenderize (use a mallet and beat the crap out of) the roast and coat it with kosher salt and a packet of french onion soup mix. Cook it on low for at least 4 hours, more if you have the time, and it'll be awesome and falling apart!

LeAnna said...

I vote for a Meme! And I do not vote for pb&j, but it's okay, I will still read your blog. Ha! I'm JUST now getting food cravings, and so far it's been stereotypical dill pickles. And mustard. Weird, huh? Hope you have a great week!!

Shelby Bukhenik said...

A. everyone talks about an etsy shop or several etsy shops (not sure what the even are called) and I think I need to take the plunge, or not if I will end up being obsessed and spending money haha!

I LOVE your miscellany (good thing I am on my mac and it spellchecked, haha you are not alone!) Monday and would probably jump on board most Mondays!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE PB & (grape) Jelly on wheat and now you have me wanting one for lunch. This is probably better than what I have been craving lately (bacon cheeseburger - I know gross)!

FYI->I am very behind lately and I just sent your jewelry today, I am soooooooo sorry!! It is in the mail though.

Trina said...

I love PB&J!! I usually have turkey every.single.day at work and it is nice when I switch it up. So it's usually PB&J or egg salad! Have a great Monday lady!!

Jewls said...

no bake cookies! I get in the mood and make them like three times a week...eating at least ten cookies a day. Hope this phase wears off soon, it's definitely not as healthful as pb&j...

Cynthia said...

Mmmm, I was totally craving PB and J last Friday! Served it up with a glass of milk and watched t.v. while my baby slept. I felt like such a kid. Perhaps it's the feeling it gives you rather than the taste? Hmmm, who knows.

Oh, and no worries about cooking or spelling...or whatever. Blunders happen...esp to me...all the time ;^) It helps us have something to giggle (or write about) later. Life's hidden jewels, right?

Have a fabulous Monday and start to your week!

Emma Jade said...

haha i always love your posts!
I was always obsessed with correct spelling and grammar but seem to have lost the ability lately too!
This might shock you, but I've never actually tried PB&J, maybe it's an American thing! I might give it a go :)

Haha! Great post! (: Random, but I LOVE random. (:

About the spelling, I get that way too. Once I could not spell "problems" to save my life...which just shows I DO have problems! (:

That etsy shop looks wonderful! I love etsy. (:

PB & J. Don't even get me started. I LOVE LOVE LOVE PB & J. Definitely my food obession, though I prefer grape jelly. But strawberry is amazing too. Ohhhh I'm drooling over here! (:

And pot roast? I hate slow cookers. I can't wait five hours to eat! I usually end up eating cereal or something when slow-cooked pot roast is on the menu. Haha. (:

Hmm...about Meme. Sounds good - I probably wouldn't participate, but I bet loads of people would. And I would LOVE to read everyone else's Memes. (Haha, fun name. It's catchy. And fun to say. I'm now saying it out loud. Meme. HAHA! It's awesome!)

Have a GREAT day! (:

Now I'm craving a PJ&J with strawberry jelly and crunchy peanut butter! Hope you have a wonderful day :)

Okay, I've had that happen before. All the time. So you're not allone. Alone. Y'know. (if you use Firefox, it's got a spell-checker with it...BONUS.) My problem is that I can spell...but I have to write it down. I can't seem to formulate the words in my head...yep. Aren't I special? Weird would be the word...;-)

You KNOW I love etsy. So. many. cute. things. I could spend $10,000 there. Oh, man. Some of the most darling stuff ever. Note to self...don't head over to etsy with a full paypal account.

Aaaaand....as I wrote on my Food Love post for the first week of Planting Chums...I LOVE PBJ. I'm a die-hard lover and fan of it. And in all honesty, I was just going to go make a PBJ sandwich for myself...hee hee. Great minds think alike, right? (okay, to add more proof to my spelling "genius" I typed in "Geat" instead of "Great" at first. Geat? What on earth is Geat? Is that related to Gait?)

Don't worry about your cooking--it's probably a prego thing. ;-)

And I was actually gonna ASK you if you'd make Miscellany Monday into a Meme. I've wanted to participate in it soooooo bad for the past few weeks. (well, ever since I found your blog.) Please say you will...pretty, pretty please with some strawberry jelly on top?

Here's to wishing you a FAB day!

Happy Monday! Thanks so much for showing off my little shop~ I'm so glad you like the burp cloths!

With my first pregnancy I had a major buffalo chicken obsession, and now Remy loves spicy food! I don't let my food touch, so PB & J is out for me but my kiddos seriously eat it every day!

Becca said...

HA! You are too funny! I can tear up a good pb&j every NOW and THEN. We had pot roast last night. My mil cooked it though. I have a slow cooker somewhere...

I am just loving those burp clothes! They are so cute!

Annie said...

Oh my gosh...the food obsession thing is totally me! I'll eat something or somewhere so often that I'll get sick of it and not want it again for like YEARS! We ate at Olive Garden so much during my first pregnancy that JUST NOW, almost 4 years later I am wanting to go back! My current food obsession is Chick-fil-A... cant get enough. (My thighs wish I would stop! ha)...
And the cooking/spelling thing can be blamed completely on "baby brain"... it happens to all pregnant girls! :)

The Carters said...

I LOVE PB&J!! We have a new favorite PB - Skippy Natural PB with HONEY. It is SO SO SO good! I've only been able to find it at Target so far.
Also, have you ever had a toasted PB&J? If you have a toaster oven that's the best way, just make your sandwich and heat it up for a bit. Or if you have a plain toaster, just toast the bread and quickly spread on the PB&J while it's still warm - YUM!

Hey gorgeous!

I would die without a spell checker. I'm a good speller, but after I've been on the comp for awhile, words start to look weird. I think you do pretty good without it! Never noticed any spelling errors.

I ate a PB & J (not strawberry, although that does sound yum!) every single day of my pregnancy. It was probably the # 1 thing I craved. I would have it toasted and that was even better. It melted the pb which was so decadent.

I would for sure join in on Miscellany Monday occasionally.

Mara said...

yum I love pb and strawberry j! I'll have to make it tomorrow for lunch :)

chelsea rebecca said...

i can't spell either!!! HURRAH!!
i have relied way to heavily on my auto speel check on internet has.. so when i'm writing or texting i just kind of freeze and get really embarrassed! hahaa.

mmm pb&j! so yum. recently i cannot have enough pb&banana with HONEY! i eat it everyday!!!!

Tawny said...

How did people ever live in a world WITHOUT spell check? I rely on it TOO much!

Those burp cloths and booties are TOO presh!

I have no excuse of being preggo, and I dont' have the ability or motivation to cook. With beautiful weather I want to eat only watermelon and bbq!

junghwa by amy stewart said...

I can't spell anymore either! It's the strangest thing. And it random words I should know but my brain goes blank at that moment. Makes me feel old. I'm losing my mind. Haha.

p.s. Do you think you'll ever try to become a nurse?

Kristi said...

You do have an excuse with the spelling thing. You are pregnant, you are allowed!! I, unfortunately don't have an excuse...

Love those little shoes and clothes. What a talented lady, makes me want to have another girl. Only for about 30 seconds though. ;)

i eat like that too and i can't use the excuse of being pregnant! :) i'll pick two things and i'll just eat them day after day for weeks at a time until i move on. right now it's peanut butter applesauce toast followed by natural cheetos. awesome.

Rebekah said...

Hey Carissa,

I love those baby things, I might have to buy something for a friend of mine who's about to have a baby.

Just wanted to let you know that I went to bi-rite creamery with my mom who was in town this week, and we tried to go, but it was one of the first nice weekends in the city and the line was out the door, down the street and around the block, no parking to be found. we decided it might not be the best day to start/try it out! :( sad times. i really want to go! :) Soon - I'll let you know when I go - I'm sure it will be amazing!
