uffda.

uffda is norwegian for "i am overwhelmed," "ouch," or "oops."  i'm norwegian and scandinavian; uffda has always been a common term around my household growing up.

i find myself saying it a lot these days.  hunter is going to start saying it soon too, i'm sure.  he may even begin to think it's his name because i say it all too often.  i'm tired, my tummy has stretched and stretched some more {and thanks babycenter for informing me that sage will be having yet another growth spurt this week} and my back is weary after carrying around my 30 lbs of handsome sugar.  he better walk soon.

i'm tired, too.  i have lists of things to accomplish but i find myself resting while hunter naps.  and i keep telling myself that it's okay.  i feel guilty and unaccomplished, but i'm giving myself grace.  after all, i was pregnant for 9 mos, nursed {really it was pumping... but that is another story for another day} for 8 mos - during 2 of those mos i was pregnant and didn't know it, now i'm 8 mos pregnant and going to nurse some more.  whew.  my body is tired.  uffda.

i couldn't be more thankful for the gifts of my kiddos!  tired or not!

here's my 32 week belly shot.

You look adorable!

And yes, it's ok to rest. Your body tells you what it needs.

Happy Tuesday!

Ditto, you look incredible! Isn't it amazing what our bodies go through to nourish, grow, birth and then look after children? I think we should get a special jewel on our crown for it. Ha! Thanks for your sweet words, today is looking to be a better day.

You look great! You aren't a super big pregnant woman. :-)

You are so cute pregnant! I wouldn't worry one bit about sitting down and resting while Hunter naps. Enjoy that peace!!!! I do, and I'm not pregnant. Ha! (It helps that I can justify anything ;)

Tracey @ My House of Giggles said...

carissa...you look so beautiful!!! And as tired as you say you are (and I totally believe you!)...you look so gorgeous...not tired at all! :) I totally hear you on the exhausted body thing....I'm feeling the same way....I really do think nursing/being pregnant takes a LOT out of you. Don't ever feel one bit guilty about taking a nap when your little guy naps!!! You need to do that! Everything else can wait :)

Thanks for the UFFTA tip...;) I feel like that 100% of the time these days!

Tracey @ My House of Giggles said...

You're getting so close, but it really is so much more tiring. I remember that feeling of complete exhaustion all too well, another reason why Jacob is IT. One day at a time. Continue to give yourself that grace.

You do look fantastic~ and have ample reason to be tired! We are so hard on ourselves... 'Mommy guilt' is one of those things I am constantly trying to overcome. It just never ends! Don't feel bad for taking it easy sometimes right now... 'cause it's about to get a little crazy again! =) Blessings~ I hope you get some rest!!

Uffda, huh? haha. I've never heard that one! I can't start using it now though, because I'll feel like I stole it from you. :D

Maybe someday the moment will be just perfect for me to use this new and exciting exclamation. lol.

Love,

you look great!! ((this is off topic, but my daughters are playing dolls together and amelya told breigh her dolls outfit was too sexy!! UFFDA! they must've gotten that from their dad!))

i would love to hear the 'i pumped for 8 months' story. i give any mom credit that sticks to it for that long. my friend had to pump only for seven months becuase of her son being sick. and it seemed a lot harder than just 'whipping it out'!

Natalie said...

My computer teacher in elementary always said Uffda! You look great! And it IS okay to rest while baby rests! (I know, I know, easier said than done!!)

Carissa you look beautiful! Don't feel guilty for resting...soon you will need to have even more energy so do rest now. I'm going to pray that Hunter starts walking soon! I can't imagine having to pick him up all the time. Yesterday I was so tired too...Tiago decided to go potty everywhere but in the bathroom, my belly felt so big and hard and at one point it even hurt like she was going to come out! I stopped everything and sat down on the couch with Tiago...sometimes we need to forget everything else...Soon we will have two, hopefully they will get into a routine together that will work and we will have more energy (not being pregnant and all!). Until than...let's do what we can and enjoy the season!! God bless you!!

love the name Sage and seriously, do you know me or something? I feel like we have the same circumstances surrounding this pregnancy... I can't wait for Lily to start walking and didn't find have suspicions that I was preg till I was about 8 wks, then when I thought I was 8, I was REALLY 13... so crazy.

it's been crazy around here and I haven't been around but I still hopelessly love your blog!

you have every right to say uffda!! after just reading your post i wanted to say it. uffda. First, you look SO beautiful with your cute little tummy!! i just love it. second, ohhhh man...i can only imagine how tired your body must feel. you deserve to rest and just relax. you are wonder woman being pregnant and carrying around cute hunter.

thank you so much for your sweet comments!! i think i am slightly ( very much so) obsessed with cupcakes. you should try (when you have time...since it sounds like you have plenty? hah!) to make sprinkles at home... you might not be able to go there but you could make it at home :)

also, gap and american eagle have really cute gold sandals...i was at the mall today and spotted them. the gold ones in my picture are from last summer.

i hope you have a great day!! just keep smiling! :)

praying for you!

God bless you girl.

You look so beautiful! You're so tiny. I'm one of those huge pregnant ladies when I'm preggers. It's okay to rest. When you feel tired...rest. I had a problem doing that and thought that I had to do it all. I ended up having Evan at 32 weeks, emergency c-section and a one week stay in the hospital for me and three week stay for him. So take it from me...rest!

Wow! Learneda new word today but I doubt I'll use it much here in the Philippines! I nursed for 11 months, but like you, it was more like pumping because unfortunately I was one of those moms who had such an excruciating time breastfeeding. My husband insisted I breastfeed, so I took it to a higher authority and asked God permission to stop. I was listening to the radio at the time, and the announcer said just in time to answer my question: " Don't quit! God doesn't like quitters!" So of course I continued until I developed mastitis which I took as God's way of saying, OK you can stop now!
