memory moments.

memory moments.  you know, the kind that you want to multipy by a million and make last forever?   i've added a few to my list...

a) sweet moments with sage, just before leaving the hospital and bringing her home.

b) the fatigue.  it's tiring but way more than worth every second.

it's amazing how the sweet scent of a newborn - especially your newborn -  can make you rethink everything... how you spend your time, what you think about, what you're thankful for, what you pray about... all of a sudden nostalgia sets in and everything becomes so meaningful and cherished; even dirty diapers and spit up.  every moment is treasured and inevitably my memory moment list gets longer...  my thankfulness to the Lord for His gifts grows all the more and rejoicing ensues!  if you can't tell, i'm head over heels for my little gal.  oh, and these guys too -

So very true about being a parent. I pray to cherish those moments and not get wrapped up in the everyday routine where the memories can get lost. Carissa, she is so sweet..and so are your boys!

she's so cute. And seriously can't believe you look that awesome before leaving the hospital. Pretty sure I looked like a mack truck had hit me, and didn't recover from that look for a few days. haha!

This is so sweet! Gosh, you are reeeeaaaally making me want to have another baby! Sage is so so cute! I bet you give her 10,000 kisses every day! I know I would! How are things going? a little hectic or smooth or both? Has Kelly gone back to work yet or is he still been able to stay home and help you some?
Take care friend!
p.s. your hair still looks smokin on you! love it!

You are so right - the smell of a newborn can take you back. Remind you of what's important. It's amazing how God can use that. Even before I had our daughter the smell would take me back to my sister's birth. And all that God hopes for us.

Shelby Bukhenik said...

Beautiful little family! And I couldn't agree more!

Carissa. You are so blessed. Those pictures are beautiful. My favorite? The one about fatigue. There is something amazing about the giving of one's self for a little one. To see you, tired and all, embracing your Sage is beautiful. Though know that I will pray that you get some rest.

Enjoy these days. They are so precious. I always liken it to a taste of heaven. There is an innocence -- almost purity -- to those first weeks with a newborn. It always makes me a bit teary-eyed. In fact, I'm tearing up just typing this.

Blessings to you, my dear friend. Hannah and I are so grateful for your friendship.

Now rest. Just a bit.

Rachel

I know what you mean about smell--it holds so much memory and it's so precious to smell something and then be brought back to something you wouldn't have remember otherwise. I love that third picture of you and Sage...you have got such a beautiful, sweet, growing family! I'm so excited that you're sharing your life with us. Such a sweet post. You're a beautiful inspiration. God bless you guys!

Much love,

So glad to see the new pics! Sage is so beautiful and your men are pretty cute, too!
15 and 16 yrs. is a long time to remember that newborn smell. :-) However, I do remember the fatigue and lack of sleep! Some of my favorite memories are of falling asleep with them on my chest. That is yummy.
Praying for rest for all of you!

You guys are so wonderful, and I totally agree with you about the scent of a newborn. God must have known we'd need some extra endorphin releases during that time of our life, ha!
Love the picture of your two guys, too precious! Hope all is going well!

Even after 10 bio. kids, the precious memories are just as sweet. Nothing better than a newborn baby that is totally and 100% dependent upon their Mama.

Even though they are teens now, I knew even then that I would never, ever forget that scent, the fragrance of new baby...those 4:00AM feedings early on when I felt like it was just the baby and me in the world, a world no one could penetrate but God alone...mmm, the best!!!! When I brought my daughter home from Russia, God gave me precious "alone" moments with her, as well, leaving me with the same "new baby" scents, fragrances and nostalgic memories till memories of the two are intertwined as one, my babies through and through :))
