miscellany monday

keep your musings random, grab the button and link up below!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

{one}  i'm sure we've all seen the huggies jean diapers.  at first glance, i assumed it was a joke.  seriously?  really?  umm, well... to each his own.  would you actually buy them?  the commercial with the lil' stud sportin' the jean diaper says in the background, "i pooh in blue."  bahaha.  i laughed and had to tell you.

{two} i must admit, after a day of taking care of two kids under the age of 16 mos, i feel like i deserve to pull out my cape with an embroidered "swm" standing for "superwomanmom," and to dance around the house in excitement while exclaiming, "i did it.  i made it through another day.  and everyone survived."

{three} i would never fake nurse in order to just sit for a few extra minutes while getting my sweet husband to do some chores for me since i'm busy nourishing our daughter.  no, i'd never do such a thing.  not ever.

{four}  we are going insane and our bodies are going to hate us for it.  in less than three weeks when i get the green light to work out, we are starting beachbody's insanity workout.  we're about to get all fit as long as we don't die on day one.

{five} is it lame that i often spend several minutes deciding how i want to write out the numbers for my miscellany?

{six} i'm in love.  my awesome and fantastic friend, liz {who happens to be moving far away, which happens to break my heart (even though they are moving for the best reasons), because she happens to be one of the most fun people ever.  i mean ever.} introduced me to naartjie, a children's clothing line that i now adore.  i want it all.  you have to go peek at all the cuteness.  and here's to hoping that someone from naartjie is reading this and sends me like a $1,000 gift card.  or a million.  either will do.

{seven} clearly my blog cannot be reserved only for miscellany monday.  wish me luck {and energy and brain power and time} so i can hopefully come up with more posts this week.

So I've seen the jean diapers and totally thought they had to be a joke! And I guess they think they're going to sell so good because they are for a "limited time only"!

Fake nursing is great. Period.

Heather

I'm completely confused by the Huggies jean diapers...strange.
I think you're supposed to soak up all of the extra help time...your body just created a human!
I think #5 is absolutely normal!
Yes, you are superwomanmom...definitely!

Happy Monday! I completely thought those diapers were a joke, too~ My sweet girl won't be wearing any, but to each his own... You totally are SuperMom, and a little fake nursing never hurt anyone! =)

Good luck with Insanity~ I have heard awesome things about that program!

Shannon said...

You are so totally normal...I obsess over the smallest details, including how to make everything look on my blog! Oh I remember those first few weeks/months with a newborn so well. Everything is a haze! Good luck with Beach Body! Not that you need to do anything, you still look amazing! Have a great week and hopefully get some rest!

Becca said...

I will admit, the fake nursing is great. I might have faked nursed on several occasions. Especially when dinner needs to be cooked pronto!

I thought those diapers were okay. I would not have bought them for my girls. I did hear that the blue dye is terrible once the baby pees. Apparently its staining clothes and sweet baby skin.

Here's to hoping that someone from naartjie also reads your comments and is feeling generous enough to throw a gift card this way!!!

Oh and you are totally superwomanmom. ROCK it girlfriend!

Elizabeth Rose said...

Yes, I saw those jean diapers! Hmm, weird. I wonder if they feel scratchy or uncomfortable?

You could totally get a SWM cape! Sage is still a newborn and you're already here posting. That's my kind of SWM-ness. :)

I loved reading your post, Carissa!

In Christ,
Lizzy Rose

LeAnna said...

I totally agree, you ARE supwerwomanmom, let's hear your roar! :) Oh, and I think the jean diapers are dumb. As if we don't have enough chemicals in our babies diapers!!!

Reese Ray said...

Good to hear from you!! Ok, so I got a coupon for the jean diapers so I bought a pack for Weston and they are so cute!! They're just like a normal diaper just a different color on the outside. Its really pretty funny! Oh and some girls from our church are getting together a few mornings a week to do the insanity workout....but I dont know if Im brave enough to join!! You'll have to let me know what you think!

partialemptynester said...

OMGoodness, LOVE those "pooh in blues", so funny! And I immediately noticed the cute way you did the numbers and immediately rethought how blasE mine are, lol! I simply must do something about that next week! And you've found the secret of the supermommies: fake it till you make it, so now you're seriously IN THE MOMMY CLUB! Oh, you sweet thing, revel in this time, love on those babies and don't push yourself (:and if hubby doesn't clean, either, your babies will never know they lived in a pigsty the first two years of their lives, and it's sooo good for their little immune systems to be around filth...totally:)

Happy MiscMonday!

Lea said...

Well, looks like we are all in 100% agreement that you are Super Momma! If you don't post anything but MiscMonday for a while, it really will be okay and we'll all understand. You are amazing and here's wishing you a splendid week of "mommyhood."

Hannah said...

Ha! And then at the end of the commercial, it goes, "The coolest you'll look pooping your pants" or something. Makes me laugh just typing that. I don't think I'd ever buy them for my (hopefully) someday-kiddos. I wonder if they'd even make them then. And you ARE superwomanmom! My mom always says that its the hardest when you've got little kids and no older ones to help out. Although, I don't see how that was, considering how well Chloe and I got along...well...hmm...
Fake nurse? You? Pshaw. Of course not. ;-)
If you don't die--that's a good one. When Chloe and I switched dance studios last year (switched to a full-out, professional ballet studio) we almost died the first few weeks. Make that months. Make that, it's killer. The problem is, it's hard to keep going if you can't move your legs...and especially not to 90 degrees...
Of course not! Your letters are funky cool. And, ohmigoodness, ohmigoodness, ohmiword! Those are SO cute! I love the little lace leggings...darling! HA! I know what you mean about wishing that. "Please let someone see my blog and send me something. Please, please, please..." Hoping to review a mac. Y'know. HAHAHA...that will happen.
We miss your posts! But definitely know what tired/craziness is like.
Much, much, much love.
XOXO - Hannah

You are superwomanmom! Fake nursing is a great idea! Even if it is just a little break!

...::Heather @ Mrs. Southern Bride::... said...

Haha...I saw that commerical for the jeans diaper and laughed. Do people really buy stuff like that? And I laughed, too. ;-)

Jennifer said...

I think if you manufacture the 'superwomanmom' cape, we would all buy it. Don't be hard on your self for not blogging as much now that you have 2 little ones....it is lucky you just barely 'survive' each day in the beginning. No less, pull out the laptop and think about us, your crazy followers :)

Kelly @ Blessed Mommy & Wife said...

Fake nurse away! More power to you :) I would never keep nursing an almost 2 year old because I love that break in the evenings (among other reasons...).

And, I am not even looking at naartjie!! The last thing I need is another brand of children's clothing to become obsessed with.

Happy Monday!!

Farmgirl Paints said...

Oh girlie I just love you. I loved your secret nursing confession...shame on you;) Glad you made it hrough another week. I like the cape idea. I think most moms need one of those. It's tough! Especially when they suck every little thing from you. Those early years are hard. Don't fret the once a week post. I know I'll still be here:)

Rachel said...

Shhhh.....fake nursing....it's a secret....Not that I've never done that. Ever. :)

Love your posts, my friend.

And thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers for my Samuel. I am so grateful.

Love ya!

Rachel

Good luck with the beachbody! just saw that Mandy is going to be a rep. Exciting stuff!

Boo to you for turning me onto another children's clothing line. My kids are going to break my bank account.

Hope you have a great week!

I just linked up for the first time! Love your blog! Those jean diapers are so weird! Bummer that your friend is moving away though! I moved away from my best friend 10 years ago and we're still just as close as ever =)

Taylor-Made Wife said...

If I was any good at sewing, I'd totally make you a cape.

Love the fake nursing...I'll have to remember that.

Lauren said...

We understand if all you get out for a few weeks is Miscellany Monday. Though I do like reading your posts if you have the time!

Brooke&Tyson said...

hahaha the jean diaper commercial cracks me up... One of my friends is the girl who has the sunglasses and starts checking out the little guy in the beginning. You definitely deserve your "swm" cape and I'm glad you dance around... I know I would! Ohh man that workout plan sounds intense!! I'm extremely impressed though... I need to get on that!! I have a little bookmark labeled kids clothes (even though that won't happen for a while probably) and I definitely bookmarked naartjie kids :) Hope you have a great week sweet friend!!

Anna Liesemeyer said...

oh my gosh I am dying laughing over here. Fake nurse? Of course we would never...hehe.
I tried insanity workout....it is insane but oh so good. You will be as sore as ever the first time.
Good luck!

LOVE that store. Thanks for sharing! Wow to the workout, I think I saw a infomercial for it while on vacation. I totally wanted it. Look forward to hearing more about it.

Girl, I love that you admitted to fake nursing to get chores done. That cracks me up! Speaking of husbands, mine will not thank you for introducing me to a new kids line of cuteness! Thanks ;)

i've never done #3 like a million times....sadly if they would peek behind our backs they would see the baby totally popped off the boob

I love the Monday posts....just have to remember to get one up...I am full of random....

Sandy a la Mode said...

you ARE superwomanmom, congrats on surviving!! and that's sooo cool you are doing insanity workout, my husband and i just finished the first week!!! it may be really intense and hard at first, but it does get easier!! although i saw the titles of the next few videos and they seem a lot more intense than week on b/c they all begin w/ the word "Max", eeks!!

Lauren said...

you are too much fun!!! I love it that you fake nurse... sounds like something I would come up with! haha

I am DEFINITELY checking out that clothing line! :)

Gwen Toliver said...

"Fake nurse"?? No, you have to get your excuse down properly! I've nursed all 7 of my babies for over a year and it's important to call it "non-nutritive sucking". THEN you're not faking nursing, plus it sounds like it's really beneficial all the way around. :)

Don't apologize for non-blogging!!!! You're doing sweet mommy things that you'll never regret - blogging can always wait till another day. Raising and training those sweet precious ones is something that will not wait!!!

A Lil Story said...

haha, I thought that diaper line was a joke too!! hilarious~ You are doing great to even get one post up! don't sweat it, just keep lovin on that baby~ that newborn stage passes by so quick =)

Embrace your superwomamom abilities... I think secretly every Mother has a cape she wishes she could wear.
Enjoy your times with them!!!

marilyn said...

You don't have to write anything. Just post some pictures. That would make this Great Grandmother happy.
Love you,
Grandma

Those jean diapers are RIIIIIIDICULOUS haha!

I feel the same way about the nursing haha, it feels like I can order hima round when I am feeding the baby haha!

taking care of two little ones under the age of 2 day in and day out is worthy of an olympic medal for sure. Someone took Emma over night and it was the most relaxing day/night of my LIFE, haha!

I CAN NOT wait to get the go ahead to start working out...honestly for those few hours of getting out of the house as well!! Spinning and running and being skinny again!! woohoo!

Natalie said...

I've been meaning to message you for the last, ohhh three weeks - gah! But I think you'll understand that I've been in just about the same boat as you! Hope all is well and that you guys are adjusting well. Sage is absolutely beautiful, I've enjoyed your pictures, seeing how Hunter is doing, and your musings on having a new baby- I feel the same way, right down to the stretchy underwear from the hospital! lol

We had our son Benjamin on June 7th, so far things are good around here! I'm surprised at how it's been going from one to two, it's tough and I have like no time ever, but it's better than I thought it would be! Here's some pictures so you don't have to dig: http://www.whitehouseblackshutters.com/2010/06/weve-been-blessed.html and http://www.whitehouseblackshutters.com/2010/06/new-normal.html.

well just so you know...even if your blog was only for miscellany monday...I would totally be here every Monday to read! sad to have missed the link-up the last couple weeks...I have no superwomanmom reasons (and yes, you do deserve a cape!)...just busy, busy!

Yes I would love to know what momma has room in her budget (or allows herself) to buy denim diapers? craziness! but to each his/her own...

The fake nursing idea is genius...not that you do it...but it's genius!
