misc. + monday

grab it and link up your random musings!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. the miracle drug.
i'm taking some medicine with these possible side effects: weight loss and darkening of the skin.  hello!  can someone please bottle these side effects!?

2. mommy vacay.
kelly is off this week and we will be enjoying a staycation.  really, what this means is that i will have a handsome pair of extra hands this week.  the words thrilled, ecstatic, and excited come to mind.  we are even going to venture to the beach.  with the two babes.  but, since i haven't completely lost my mind (yet) we are bringing along my mom and siblings for their help so daddy can fish and mommy can lay out a bit.

3. speaking of laying out.
yes, this 7 week postpartum body will be sporting a one-ish piece that has so much coverage, it probably can't even be classified as a bathing suit.  and yes, it will be black for the fullest slimming effect possible.  can i get an amen?

4. wildtree's grapeseed oil.
this is the healthiest of oils and full of antioxidants that help stall the effects of aging.  with it's high smoke point, the oil can be used safely for sautéing, stir-frying, and deep frying.  it's also been shown that grapeseed oil reduces ldl cholesterol levels.  thanks to amanda, i've enjoyed cooking with it and love to use it to saute vegetables and chicken.  it also works in several recipes in place of butter.  you can put the oil in an oil spritzer and use it instead of butter flavored pam.  you must try it.  click to visit wildtree to get order details... amanda will take care of you!  it's very well priced and a bottle will last you a long while.  plus, it will make you a healthier cook and person.  win-win.

5. mommy bling for baby.
teething bling... it's cool for you and your babe.  and like most momma's i'm all about multi-tasking, so why not wear a necklace that also doubles as a teether? yet again, another win-win.  and i hope i win.  but, because i'm nice, you too, can try to win one by visiting rachel at finding joy.

6. public service announcement.
much to my surprise and delight, sage slept through the night last night.  there's nothing quite as thrilling as waking up in the morning and realizing the baby didn't wake in the night.  i thought for sure we had a long way to go for that, but it turns out she beat her brother (he started at 8 weeks) and at 7 weeks made it through the night.  now, hopefully it becomes a trend.  : )

I'm so excited for your "getaway" this week and it's okay about the bathing suit. I'm sure you will be just as "cute as a button" in it and I've always worn the "extra coverage" bathing suits, even when I was a very young lassie. :o) Always enjoy Miscellany Mondays and thank you so much for hosting them. Enjoy your week and we'll be looking for photos to follow. Hugs!

1 - can i get in on this? or can you at least tell me what your symptoms are so i can come down with it, too? lol

4 - i've never heard of this but i am definitely going to check it out - thanks. :)

Yay for helping hands around the house! Jason had a week and 1/2 off and we didn't do much, but it was still so nice. We ventured off the museum and stuff like that a couple days...it was more relaxing that way:-)

I've used Wildtree stuff before, I'll have to check the oil out.

I entered the giveaway for the teething bling-it's such a great idea! I love the wear necklaces and Christian loves to chew them, so it's perfect for us!

Have a fabulous Monday and Week:-)

Heather

Oh yeah, and P.S. Amen!

This will be a great week. I love the name. Stay-cation. My little Elijah, when he wants to go outside, has the cutest way of asking to go in the backyard. He'll say, "'lijah play backside? Go backside, mamma?" I just cannot bear to teach him backyard because backside is too funny.

OK. On to the swim suit. My life now consists of the tankini suit (whoever thought of that was a life saver) in slimming colors. I am SURE that you will look radiant in your suit. Ahh...the joys of being a mother.

Thanks for mentioning the give-away on my site. You are so sweet.

My miracle drug of choice? Anything that can get me some sleep. I am tired today. Super tired.

Have a wonderful Monday. I am looking forward to pictures from the BEACH!!

I'm going to have to try that grapeseed oil, sounds pretty neat! ANd here is an AMEN on the bathing suit, black and one-ish piece with lots of coverage is still what I am wearing and its been almost 2 years since my daughter was born. Haha! Enjoy the week with your husband home!

Staycations are SO wonderful and I hope you enjoy each and every minute of time with your Kelly and time at the beach (amen!). I hope you win your bling. And WHOO HOO for Sage sleeping through the night.

Enjoy having your hubby home!! We did the same thing last week (minus the trip to the beach...boooooo!) and it was wonderful. I could get used to both of us being home all the time :)

I have a bottle of grapeseed oil that someone gave us as a gift. I guess I should break it open and give it a shot!

Good luck with the giveaway! No teething babes for me so I'll sit this one out! What an awesome idea though...

WOW - GO SAGE! Happy for you, Momma! I bet you feel like a million bucks today. I'm going to look up the grapeseed oil. I'm intrigued...

Linds said...

When I have time (and let's be honest, I rarely ever these days), I make my own spreadable butter with grapeseed oil and REAL butter. It's super easy, just a lot of cleanup since the blender gets pretty greasy. I posted about it one time on my blog if you're interested:

YAY...she's awesome! I bet you rock that swimsuit:)

It's such a relief to know that someone else is around to help out...and a bonus to take to the beach! You both deserve a little break and soaking up some sun and fun! Enjoy!

What a great milestone to sleep through the night! I hope it continues! {Emily still gets up at night...but we've been working on that!}

Sounds like I could use some of that grapeseed oil...my eating has been less than healthy! And a teether/necklace is a great invention!

Happy Monday! Have a GREAT week! ;)

Mandy said...

Good morning! Isn't it amazing how awesome one can feel after some consecutive hours of sleep?! Congrats! I still wear the one piece black suit when forced to wear a bathing suit... don't worry, I'm sure you look great. Enjoy your stay-cation, too. After our week away from the kids we are going to be home a lot too!

arsenalfamily said...

Oh Carissa, if they COULD bottle that stuff it would be way to expensive for the likes of us. bah. I guess we'll just have to lose the old fashioned way! My swimsuit was perfect after pregnancy - it even had a skirt!!!

Angie S said...

yippee for the hubs being home...that is going to be wonderful!

have a great week girl, and thanks for hosting! it is FUN!

Enjoy your staycation and the beach! Oh, if you bottle what you mentioned in #1, please do send some my way. Yay for Sage sleeping through the night. I am praying that that will continue! Have a wonderful Monday!

Okay, you know we're all wondering what kind of miracle drug THAT is.

My baby is 15 mo and I'm still not willing to pull out the swimsuit. You obviously bounce back waaaay faster than I do. :)

Have a wonderful time with hubby home. Maybe take the time to ask him why we women talk so much about weight, but men never utter the phrase "I look so fat in these swim trunks - look at my hips!" :)

Carrie said...

Woah! Sage is already sleeping through the night! That is h-u-g-e! Mercy, Allie Claire was every bit of 5 months old before she started. You are one lucky momma! Could you please rub my arm so my baby #2 will sleep more than AC did ;)

Laura@Cowboy Boots said...

i'm sooo jealous...
my first 3 slept through the night by 4m....i was thrilled for that...
ummm Lily is 22m and still doesn't know the meaning of SLEEP. i don't know what i did wrong w/her haha
baby #5 will be put under a spell b/c i'm not doing this again!

I'm surprised ur boobs didn't wake u...after 3 hrs i was awake whether the baby was or not in pain! haha

Kelli @ RTSM said...

That drug does sound like a miracle...all my meds have terrible side effects like killing my liver and making my hair fall out! I have been wanting to try some of amanda's wildtree stuff too.

Lauren said...

yippee for staycations!!! Thanks for the tip about the grape seed oil! I will have to give it a try :) Oh and can I get the prescription for your medicine?? I'd love to lose about 5 lbs and a tan never hurts either! :P

Kelley said...
