miscellany on monday.

grab it and link up your random musings!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. fighting back the chuckles.
my children are 16 months apart.  hunter is at least 16 lbs heavier than sage.  hunter is more than twice her size.  so, you can imagine that when a grown woman asked if they were twins it was all i could do not to laugh as i replied, "no.  she is 2 months and he is 18 months."  her response: "oh, i have twins so that's why i wondered."  what in the whole wide world was she thinking?!  i mean, if a five year old asked that question i could understand why... but a grown woman who has twins herself?

2. cutting off the curls.
this weekend we said goodbye to hunter's curls and hello to a little boy... it's been a long time coming.  i managed to not shed a single tear while we were at "sports clips."  i boo hooed on the way home.  i am not too excited about the haircut... hunter moved around a lot so i didn't expect it to be perfect.  but, the end result is monkish.  he looks like a monk.  poor thing.  at least it will grow.  i want to go back and get it fixed, however, i think at this point it's beyond repair.  only time will heal.

3. death to dye.
why do drug companies insist on making children's medication with red dye?  or any color for that matter?   the dye can't be good for the littles or their clothes.  i'm grateful for the dye-free varieties, but usually the stores run out of those first.  and with the plethora of recalls lately, you can't be choosey.  so, i was left to buy bright red cherry triaminic.  and this is how it went down:

4. to end on a cute note.
~ sage at 7 weeks ~
this adorable headband is made by the lovely anna from "in honor of design."

Your babies are so adorable! Mine older two are 16 months apart. I remember first haircuts. I think I cried!

Twins??? That's hilarious! Adults can say the darndest things too...not just the kids! haha

Christian's hair is starting to get mulletacious so a haircut is in order soon I'm sure...but I'm with you-those curls are so cute!

Have a great Monday!

AWWW this is full of cute babies! :)

I totally understand the hair cut! Mine looked like he was straight out of bootcamp when he got his first one. Sad day! Hunter is still adorable, though. :) And I love those sweet Sagey cheeks!

SAGE is so adorable!!!! Gah!!! Love that IHOD headband!

I dont have kids yet, but that doesn't make sense that childrens medication has dye in it. He looks too cute though ;)

Oh boy...was the woman wearing glasses? Maybe she forgot them! Too funny!

Emily used to have the cutest curls...but once she started getting haircuts...they just didn't come back. It's just a wavy mess now, haha! Hunter's adorable no matter how his hair looks :) It does grow back so fast, though! Alex is always getting his hair cut!

Love Sage's headband! I will need to check those out! ADORABLE! :)

Lea said...

Oh, those first haircuts for little boys are so tough, but it's a part of the "growing up" process. But, they do take on such a more grown up look and it does tear at your heart. My little Grandson went through it so too long ago and I could hardly stand it. Can't believe how Sage has grown and isn't it amazing at folks comments? Sometimes we just have to scratch our heads. :o) A wonderful week to you!

Linds said...

I hate to tell you this, but Sport Clips (atleast 'round our parts) does hack jobs for every hair cut they do. Drew one time got his hair cut there a few days before a wedding we were going to... I thought he was going to cry... it was THAT bad.

Linds said...

And for what it's worth, I don't think Hunter looks like a Monk... I can't tell that it's a bad hair cut from the pictures. Have you seen Tim Tebow's new haircut? THAT looks like a monk :)

Heidi said...

I don't even know why I'm surprised to hear dumb comments like that - I think I give people way too much credit. LOL
I think Hunter looks cute, but it made me laugh when you said he looks like a monk. :)

Mandy said...

Good morning! Your 'twins' are adorable~ and I'm with you~ what an idiotic question! Hunter looks adorable. I am never happy when Remy gets his hair cut for a few days after... I think boys just need a while to grow into it each time. And as for the medicine, it always amazes me that the dye-free kind costs more. They charge more to leave out an ingredient... not right. I hope you have a great day!

DORCAS said...

Your little ones are so adorable. Awwee! His curls are gone :( As for the twin thing. That's happened with Zeke and Lydi. Just because they are in a double stroller doesn't mean they are twins.

Thanks for sharing all these beautiful pictures

Your kids are so cute! I'm gonna be so sad when we start giving Stephen the uniform buzz cut. He is the only boy with curls. Hopefully baby 9 will have a curl to his hair.

Sage is just ADORABLE!!! What a sweet, precious little girl!

B said...

That is very strange about the woman's comment. lol. Hope you had a good weekend, dear :)

Courtney said...

I cried the first time we cut Keegan's hair. I waited as long as possible to do it. I'm about to cry again tomorrow - his first day of PreK. UGH.

The pictures are adorable. Your kids are precious!

I still get asked that about my 22 month apart girls and I would laugh too at the ones that would see Actress clearly walking beside the stroller and Model in the stroller with feet not big enough to walk and ask if they were twins. Baaa Haaa
He is cute hair cut or not...I know you will miss the curls. I missed my little guys too when we finally cut it.
Gorgeous picture of Sage. Love it in black and white.

Laura@Cowboy Boots said...

that woman cracks me up...i wonder if she felt silly afterward? haha

Rachel said...

I know, I know, odd. Just the other day someone asked me if Hannah and Samuel were twins. And I was like, "come on -- they're 13 years apart!!" (just kidding. really. I'm kidding.)

My sister and I grew up with everyone thinking we were twins. She's 2.5 years younger than me. I'll be her age now. :)

Love the haircut. He looks cute.

And, yes, I'm the one that messed up my MckLinky entry. I'm admitting it. Apparently, you CANNOT use quotation marks. So my clever little entry now looks like a big fail. Oh well, live and learn.

Have a great Monday!

Rachel

Joanna said...

Hahahah...What a crazy question! I would have never thought, ever that they might be twins. The difference in size just says it all.

I love those curls...Awww...So sweet. Cute haircut too. I would have had to cut them off as well because I am not into the boys with long hair fashion statement.

Sage is beautiful!

Farmgirl Paints said...

The lady with twins must have been in a sleep deprived state OR high. Either way that was too funny.

I hope you saved some of his hair. Those were precious little curls. That first cut is brutal. It really changes the way they look!

Lauren said...

Twins?!?! No way. They're both adorable! Love the pics!

Megan said...

Twins, Really ?!?! The saddest part is that she has twins, lol. Hunter has such big beautiful eyes and his haircut is very cute. Sage is precious, I love her headband, off to find one for Madison.

Angie S said...

That woman has lost her mind...wow. She must have been having a bad day. Or since she has twins she's stressed, can't see straight! heehee!

Your babies are adorable...love the pic of the dirty medicine face!!

And the bow on little miss is so cute!

Love the curls and all the pics this week! I almost wish we could cut Lily's hair, she has that mullet when her hair is down, looks like I neglected her or something!

That's crazy she thought they were twins!! Maybe when they're older, but now?!?! I've been asked if my kids are wearing the same size clothes since Lily is teeny tiny and Ben is a big guy (12 lbs 12 oz at 1 1/2 months). He's in 3-6, she's in 12-18, no where near the same size!

Have a great week, btw, you look GORGEOUS in all of the pics from last week. Whatever you've been doing, it's working cause you look fab! ;)

Awwww look at Hunter and his big boy haircut! I cried like a baby when we had Kelcee's hair trimmed for the first time and that was last year LOL...
He looks cute as always

I love the curls ;) Maybe Sage will get really long and curly hair :) They both look so adorable in the pictures, however, I would never get the impression that they are twins ;)

Blessings,

Sage looks beautiful - and Hunter is still adorable although I know how you feel... 2 of mine have curls and it's sad when they get cut off. :(

My two oldest daughters are 3.5 years apart, but look very similar (though drastically different in height) and I've been asked before if they are twins. Um??

Lori said...

16 months apart and she thoughT TWINS?! Maybe when they get older, but gosh, your LO is only 2 months!

Love Hunter's new 'do :) Stylin little man!
Sage... is gorgeous.

Rebekah said...

AWW.... Poor guy! He still looks adorable, it only hurts mommy's heart! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Shame on you for not mentioning it and celebrating you! :) You are one amazing woman!

Also, I would love some advice on how to get a button in my blog post with a link up- i want to do it, and read about a million tutorials, but I guess I'm an idiot! If you are wiling, I would love some help! :)

Shelby Bukhenik said...

hahaha OMG some people are so dense!!! I would have trouble holding back laughter if someone asked if my babes were twins!

He still looks cute without his curls!

That baby Sage is gonna be a heartbreaker!

Anna said...

I have always said I was not going to be one of those moms who sentimentally kept her little boy's hair long forever. But I have a feeling I may eat my words one day.

and by the way --

--should have put it in your Miscellany---I'm just saying :)

how hard it was for me to make that cut.

they both are just too adorable.

Aww! Such cute and beautiful pictures! I always wonder why they had dyes to any medication too. I mean, I can't imagine that a red dye is necessary for one to feel better! :)~

Stephanie said...

TWINS??? People are crazy!
Your boy still looks handsome, even if the haircut is monkinsh, ha!
Sage is so pretty - just like her mama! :)

kim said...

i laughed out loud when you called Hunter monkish...but after seeing the picture I have to say he is too adorable & the haircut looks good!

Shelley said...

Thats hilarious that somebody with twins thought you had twins! This is my first time here and even I can see the difference!

Candace said...

Bye, bye, sweet curls! I hope you saved them! As for that precious baby girl - words are not enough!

Mrs. Buck said...

aaw, his curls were so cute - but now he looks so handsome!

Kelli said...

I did my post and completely forgot to link it! I had to laugh at the lady, WITH TWINS, who asked is they were twins. Wow! I love Hunter's new hair cute...such a little man. I am not a fan of cough syrup, especially cherry. I need to try the homemade kind that my friend uses.

angela said...

The good thing about hair is that no matter how strange it turns out, it always grows back. I think your baby looks adorable with or without curls :)
And I must say.. I tried the whole wheat tortilla with havarti and pesto and spinach and tomatoes... yum yum yum yum yum!!!! That is my new favorite thing.

...::Heather @ Mrs. Southern Bride::... said...

Adorable pictures, as always. :)

Kelli @ RTSM said...

Hunter's haircut is too cute! We waited until just after my second son was born to get my oldest one's curls cut off too...and mine are 17 months apart! You should probably get used to people asking if they are twins. I get asked that at least once everytime we go somewhere, and mine are 6 and almost 5!

Your kids are absolutely adorable! Twins??? That's a hoot!

Sandy a la Mode said...

Twins?! Seriously?! I could maybe see that in a few years depending on how they both grow but not now. What in the world?!

LOVE his little grown haircut! I'm sure I would have bawled like a baby. Hopefully Sage will have those sweet curls too!
