go back exactly one year. september 29, 2009. i remember the day like yesterday. hunter (he was seven months at the time) and i headed to cvs to get their notoriously good deals with lots of extra care bucks back. except for the fact that i threw in a pregnancy test (the digital expensive kind) which blew my savings out of the water. oh well. the fact that i was feeling sick, the sickness that only comes with the first trimester, convinced me to check. i figured my husband's beliefs of me just imagining something would be confirmed. after all, i was nursing. you can't get pregnant while nursing (wink, wink).
i had taken a test the day before (the cheap dollar store kind) and got a negative result. but the nagging nausea kept me thinking otherwise. i called hubby to tell him i was going to find out for sure with the digital kind. he chuckled and figured i was a goofball. as is the usual case. after all, i had just taken a test the day before!
well, let me just say the digital tests are well worth the money. there was no guessing or wondering. in plain english i read: pregnant. i texted hubby a pic of it. he was shocked. so was i. i think having a seven month old made us scared... the newborn stage was still fresh in our minds. how were we going to afford two babies?! was it possible for me to really be pregnant with two different babies in the same year? i couldn't quite wrap my brain around the fact that i was about 5 weeks pregnant already and had a seven month old in my arms. : )
so, sage christiana, then there was you! you were our blessing in surprise and our constant reminder that the Lord is faithful to provide!
now fast forward to today! you are such a beautiful girl and we are head over heels.

What a sweet story and a beautiful result. We had a shocker too with Caleb and I wouldn't trade him for the world. God's plan and timing are really the best. Today is special for me too because it's my Jamison's birthday :)
Carissa, that was so beautiful!
Awwwww!!!! And a lovely little blessing she is! : )
I can't imagine having two so close together, and it isn't the thought of two infants to care for at the same time...my sis had twins, so I know how it goes. It's the two actual pregnancies so close together! I didn't really dislike being pregnant, but my last one was so very hard on me.
She is such a doll, Carissa! I love that story and am so thankful that God provides as he does. What a blessing!
so beautiful! :)

This was about the same time I did the same thing. And I COMPLETELY agree the prego or not prego are much better!
Beautiful, beautiful Sage Christiana. How sweet you are!
Such sweet surprises! Carson (my 2nd) was my surprise when I too had a 7month old. I remember thinking "I already have a baby" :) After the shock and awe wore off, we were thrilled! Take lots of pictures and video. We were looking back on old videos for charlotte's 5th bday and that first year of having babies so close was such a blur. I was watching videos thinking "I don't even remember that time" Helen is 18 months now, and when charlotte was that old I had a 3 month old too! Can't even imagine right now!
but you are doing it beautifully!
Another beautiful story! God's timing is always perfect :) Thanks for sharing!
Awwww look at those cheeks!!
Surprise blessings are the best! : )
Oh I love it! All those emotions when you find out the TRUTH! Your kids are going to love being so close!!!
I love all of your posts, but this one I really love... Such a sweet and beautiful post for a beautiful baby girl (i can't believe she is so big already!!!). It's so funny how God's plan is so much greater than ours...

What a precious, precious memory - and she's so beautiful! Six of my seven kids are living proof that you CAN get pregnant while nursing... :)
Oh, I do hope you are having your blogs preserved in book form. Sage and Hunter are going to be so blessed reading these one day. Such a sweet, sweet entry! Hugs!
Sage is such a sweet blessing. I am sure you wouyld never be able to imagine your life without her. It is hard now with them being so close, but I am sure it will get easier as they get older.
She's just so beautiful! No wonder y'all are head over heals. Now that GG's 14 months, I keep thinking back to last year when she was just about Sage's age...gosh time passes so quickly! What a sweet message to your lil'!
beautifully written, my friend. your little girl is just precious. what a sweet blessing little girls are! (and little boys too, i'm sure!)
SO precious! Precious! What wonderful news!

Oh man, she is a little DOLL. So very precious and adorable!
she is a beauty and what a blessing.....
This post made me smile... what a precious little girl.
Your blog is beautiful! Glad I found you! :)
Such s sweet picture of Sage.
this was a great post - i loved it. The same thing happened to my sister in law however, she was surprised with their 3rd boy so 2 boys less than a year apart.. eek!
She is beautiful! I so miss the baby stage-sounds like our story too. We found out number 3 was coming when number 2 was 10 months and number one was only 3. Yikes! No amount of responsible birth control helped us there! Enjoy it-it goes so fast.
