miscellany monday

grab the button, write random and link up below!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. lost and found.  yesterday i lost my cell phone (my 5 year old nokia, so i wasn't too sad and thought it'd be the perfect occasion for an iphone).  we don't have a land line so i felt pretty much helpless.  not to mention i was going to have a panic attack if i lost all my phone numbers.  however, the side of me that wants to declare bankruptcy on time was kind of relieved.  : )  but, alas, i found it.  my budget was especially glad.

2. a fat cat.  no offense to cat lovers everywhere, but i'm not that interested in them.  except when they're pink, soft, cuddly, and chubby with a big dimply smile.

3.  cooky caillou.  if you're a mom, you may be familiar with caillou... the bald headed lil' boy on pbs.  is it just me, or do you, too, wonder why he's bald?  we had it on the other day for a minute and i was just completely confused when he had a girl sleepover.  and they slept right next to each other.  hello weird.

4.  taste buds had a terrible treat.  we tried out a new froyo place.  it was sick.  nasty.  and expensive.  the absolute worst combination.  you serve yourself... fill the cup with frozen yogurt, add whatever toppings you so desire and then weigh and pay.  it is 49 cents/ounce.  ounces add up.  avoid this place if it's near you.

5.  allergy annoyance.  speaking of the said yogurt shop, we asked for an ingredient list to make sure hunter could eat it (he has a severe egg allergy).  the manager checked and said something like, "well we don't have an ingredient list... i don't think it has eggs, but i can't be sure."  ahhhhhhh!  that is useless.  useless, i tell you.  (right, beth?!)

6.  beautiful babies.  we watched the documentary on babies and it was quite fascinating to see how different places and cultures raise babies.  you see a baby in america, where we parents are addicted to parenting formulas, magazines, all while being completely scared that there must be something wrong with our child because they're aren't developing just like they "should" be (or maybe that's just me?) versus a baby born in namibia that has no toys and roams around outside in the dirt while getting a spit bath from mama.  the namibia baby developed far more quickly than misses america.  imagine that.

Hi Carissa,

Thank you for hosting this fun random Monday get together. I love the picture of Sage, even though I am not particularly fond of cats (more of a dog person myself). She is growing so quickly, though. It seems like it was just yesterday that you posted her first pictures.

I am glad you found your cell again. Loosing all my numbers would get me into serious trouble. I should probably make a list and write them down somewhere.

Have a blessed week,
Kate

Hello, I am new to your blog- this is my very first Miscellany Monday:) Nice to 'met' ya'!
Caillou is cooky -LOL- I agree . . . I have his voice down perfectly & like to annoy my son by talking to him like that. He 'LOVES' it;)

-& that might be the cutest cat I ever saw!

Thanks for Hosting,
Stacey

I'm with you on the cats-not a lover...but geez, when they're a cute as that how could you not love???? She looks adorable!

Caillou. Hmmmmm, I've see him before and he is just a little strange...but the sleepover is a tad bit weird, and now that you mention it, where did is hair go exactly?

I've been dying to see that Babies movie...I'll have to check it out for sure now!

Have a wonderful Monday!!

Ohh your little pink cat looks so sweet!...I want one like that too..hahah
That frozen yogurt place sounds really bad...
Have a wonderful Monday and see you soon

Is Sage not the cutest little cat ever! They absolutely make some of the cutest little Halloween suits for these little ones. One of my grans is going to be a Penguin and the other a flower. And, it's all about the picture taking!

Never heard of such a yogurt place but doesn't sound like I'm missing much.

A most blessed and happy week to you!

Calliou is a strange show, and even though I share your cat sentiments to the tee, I can't help but think that Sage is just the cutest kitty around! Interesting about your Nambia vs. US comparison...who would've thought?!

What an adorable costume!! Ahh so cute! I'm playing along this week, I'm a new follower to your blog!

Oh my goodness! Your fat kitty is the cutest I have ever seen!!! Gah! ADORABLE I tell ya! <333

What an adorable cat!

We have a different froyo place that opened near us, but a very similar experience. They had one size of container, large, you serve yourself and then pay a ridiculous amount. It was rather disappointing in flavor and not firm enough for me. I refuse to go back there and will drive the 20 minutes to the nearest Golden Spoon for my froyo.

I'm not a fan of cats, but that is the cutest cat I've ever seen...EVER! I would be lost if I lost my cell phone too...I think of all of the numbers lost. Maybe I should write them all down...hmmm...remember when we had address books :) I have always wondered about Caillou's head...why does his sister have hair and he doesn't. And a girl sleepover...that is very strange. That is very annoying about the yogurt, I'm so sorry. I have to check out that documentary.

Good morning girlie. Did you "lose" your phone on purpose? I've been trying to figure out how to ruin our washer and dryer so I can get a new one. They'll probably last 20+ years...HA! Thanks for the yogurt warning. Your little one is precious in that cat outfit. Sweet!!

Shelby Bukhenik said...

Glad you found your phone...I have lost mine or ruined it on too many occasions and losing numbers stinks!
I love a kitty cat costume!!
Emma is obsessed with Caillou, we are currently watching him whine on TV!

Tarryn said...

What an adorable kitty outfit!! Just too cute!!

We have a yogurt place like that near us. The first time we went I loved it - I got strawberry cheesecake swirl with fresh strawberries. The next time I got chocolate and vanilla swirl and it was GROSS - made me really miss Rita's.

Caillou - oh yeah, I haven't met a mom who likes him. He's freaky and whiny and the show is weird.

I can't wait to watch "Babies". Sounds so fascinating.

Carrie said...

I love that fat cat...it's the sweetest ever! I'm actually not a huge cat fan, even though we have two! the kids love them, though :)

My kids always watched Calliou, and it was definitely weird sometimes :) But I do miss those little shows sometimes...I'm not a fan of what they watch now, either!

I don't use my cell phone very much, so I could do without it ;) It's an old Nokia too, but it's nice to have when I need it! Glad you found it!

Happy Monday!

Oh I was jumping for joy at the prospect of you having an iPhone, but I am thankful you found your phone. Sage is too adorable in that costume. I avoid those types of yogurt places, where you pay by the ounce. I believe the first time I went mine cup of yogurt cost me $7, no joke! I've never seen Caillou, but my kids use to watch Stanley. I did wonder why he was bald. Have an amazing Monday!

Carrie said...

I, too, hate cats, but I must say your pink cat is precious!!!

Lauren said...

we watched Babies last week and loved it! We both had the same thoughts as you about the American family. It was definitely an eye opener!

Mandy said...

I do not care for cats, in general, but yours is the sweetest I've seen~ I would take her home in a minute!

Becca said...

Oh my, you have the most precious little kitty! She looks so sweet in that costume! We are addicted to froyo. However, that place sounds terrible!

Carissa that is the post precious kitty I have ever seen!! Oh and I still love ya even though you don't like real cats that much LOL...we have 3 hope you still like me LOL....

I laughed out loud at your Calliou analogy because the hubs always asks the same thing "why is he bald" and "why is he so whiney" LOL that is just so funny to us to and I also saw that episode of the girl sleepover and thought that is cooky hahahah

glad you found your phone, OMG I feel ya on the allergy front, I have to steer clear of peanuts right now and when we were at a restraunt a few weeks back we asked if something was fried in peanut oil and they said "I don't think it is" well thanks...I was kinda hoping for a no it isn't LOL....

Great post chicka, and sorry about my comment thingy givin you probs....I did get them though I will have to see what is up with blogger LOL it doesn't like me much lately

love ya
Summer

we watched that Babies documentary too and found it so fascinating! I wish it would have been narrated, but it was beyond adorable!

isn't it frustrating to not know ingredients? I am learning about my gluten intolerance and it is quite confusing!!! I understand!

Oh man! I would have been so annoyed at the yogurt place if I was given that answer. Sage looks absolutely presh in that costume!! I'm not a cat person at all but she takes the cake!! Did you say what Hunter is going to be? My kids change their minds every day. Noelle's latest request is to be Luigi from Super Mario Bros. Try explaining to a strong-willed 2 year old that it's a boy costume ;) We've had a lot of laughs over this topic in the past few weeks! Hope your week ahead is an awesome one! Thanks for hosting this linky party :)

What a darling little kitten! :)
I also hate it when you ask for ingredients and they look at you as if you have grown a second head. Or when you ask for the calories! lol
I love your blog and I am so glad to have found it !
Happy Monday,
xo

1. I would absolutely go crazy without my phone. Then - other times I wish it would go away....I'm torn!

2. I absolutely could care less about cats....except your cat seems quite the treat. I need one JUST LIKE THAT!

3. Not a big fan of Caillou...your observation tops off the dislike...

You are awesome. Is that her Fall costume? I love it. My Mom made Gooner a "Belle" dress, she looks tres fab! And you found your phone, well it wouldn't be too much of a loss since we've never chatted on the phone... ;) just kidding, that would MAJORLY stinko.

Crazy Shenanigans said...

So did you end up getting an iphone? They're fabulous! You'll love it!

partialemptynester said...

LOVE the "catsuit", teehee, couldn't resist! Sage is adorable in that outfit!!

Caillou, what are you thinking, sleeping with a little girl! You've changed since my kids were little...but yeah, you're still bald, what's up with that, boy?! Hahaha!

Yeah...frozen yogurt is very deceiving, gotta be careful with that stuff! Egg allergy? Poor baby, there are so many things that eggs are slipped into without a soul knowing!

Oohhhhh, my goodness!!!!! The BABY MOVIE!?!?! My daughter and I have watched it so many times...we LOVE it! Hubby thinks we are so weird, but I tell ya, we just love those boys in Namibia...gotta love it when the younger one pulls up the older one's flap and the older one slaps his hand away...sooo cute!!!! We just love that documentary! I'd so rather be a mom in Namibia, than here...k, well, not really...but there are sooo many things we can learn from other cultures :))))

amanda said...

we don't have a landline either! i'd be lost without my phone. and have been, when i've lost it!! ;)

i don't especially like cats, but i think i could handle one like yours. lol.
