1. call me a tweeny bopper... i tried on a pair of jeggings (jeans + leggings) and was awed by their comfort. they didn't highlight my fat like i thought they would. i want a pair.
2. speaking of tweens, if you saw my face you'd think i was going through puberty. i have the "gift" of oily skin. my grandma says it's a gift because when i'm 70 i won't have nearly as many wrinkles as a result... i hope she's right. anyways, maybe it's the weather change or just wacky hormones, but i have zits that will not resolve. until... i found an angel disguised in a $3 bottle of oxy face wash. this stuff trumps proactiv and clinique. i love it when cheap things actually work really well.
3. free highlights. i would love to get my hair highlighted, but that costs money, and babies cost money. obviously, the babies win every time. : ) but, i've discovered another use for oxy face wash. if it touches any hair while i'm washing my face it bleaches it. hello free highlights. (annie is my hairdresser. i hope annie's not reading. gasp.)
4. sick of sickness. i love church. i love having fellowship with a body of believers. i'm sad when i miss it, especially since that means hubby goes alone (he's the worship leader) and i've been sad a whole lot lately because my babies have been sick for so long. we had an entire week of wellness. we went to church last sunday and then, on behalf of nursery germs, were sick by wednesday. i don't like having to choose between sick babies or going to church. what do i do?!?
5. bring on the prunes. our poor baby girl has a pooping problem. she went 12 whole days without a dump. can you imagine how that must have felt?! so now she gets miralax in her bottle and prunes for breakfast. instead of starting her on rice cereal or veggies, the doc said to go with prunes. i didn't think she'd ever want to eat solids for the rest of her life since her first taste of them tasted like prunes... so i balanced it off with rice cereal. that went just as well as the prunes; nowhere:
6. to be fair, i need to show you this cuteness. because he's been sick, there's been a lack of hunter pictures. i'm trying to change that. i told him to smile for the camera:
7. playing pretend. hunter's learning the art of pretending. he pretends that i feed him like a mama bird feeds her baby. here he is pretending to eat off of a mixer attachment. it's cute how little minds work. : )

Although I don't own any (yet...) I'm a bit obsessed with leggings and jeggings myself. They do look so comfortable! Now for a cute top long enough to cover my rear end...
That last photo is totally adorable and made my Monday morning...Aww such a cutie. Ohh so sorry that both your little angels are sick. I hope they will feel better soon and I hope that Sage will feel better with her tummy.
Hugs and kisses,sweetie
Ps: I just wanted to give you heads-up on my Wednesday baby-kids giveaway...It will be a gift cert. from a great shop with many amazing stuff for kids so I hope you will have a chance to enter as I bet you will love it:)
Have to check out that Oxy face wash! Also good to know about the jeggings...I've been a little afraid of them :-). So sorry to hear that you've been dealing with so much sickness over there. It's been going around our town for sure too. Since I've been stuck home puppy training for 2 weeks, I have managed to avoid it so far.- Let's hope it lasts! Happy Monday to you Carissa!
Thanks for the tip on the face wash. I'm so tired of zits at my age!
Can't do the jeggings thing....I look like an egg with legs.
I wish people weren't so 'generous' with their kids' illnesses and would just keep them at home when they're sick. :( My little guy is asthmatic and every respiratory illness picked up is so much worse for him. He's forever coming home from school saying "So-and-so came to school sick today" or "So-and-so's mom made them come to school even though he had a fever." Drives me bonkers!
Adorable pictures, as always! Sorry to hear that you're still battling sickness. It's so tough at this age. I avoided the church nursery with Noelle for her first 18 months because of my fear of her getting sick (not that she didn't get the germs from big brother...). But, it was at the sacrifice of not getting the most out of worship and that's no good. No good answer :( Hope everyone is restored to perfect health soon! Enjoy the new week of making sweet memories with your babies!
I love the cooler weather of fall, but I always dread the onslaught of sickness it brings in my kids!
I want to try jeggings but even typing out that word makes me want to gag a little. I mean, really, jeggings?! I think this is gonna be one of those words that in 20 years we look back at and laugh at ourselves. :) I did, however, purchase my first pair of skinny jeans and leggings this fall. So I'm only like, 1 or 2 years behind normal fashion. lol!
My baby has the same problem as Sage! We did rice for just a bit and then I switched to barely. Someone said it might help with "those" problems! He also eats a lot of prunes! Poor kids.
Oh, poor Sage, do hope the prunes work. :o) And, I can only imagine that the jean leggings would be adorable on YOU! Sure hope the babies are restored to good health ASAP and you are all back to church as a family. Blessings to you dear!
I love the "leggings" trend! So comfortable, and oh so flattering!
Love, Makay
#1 - Jeggings? Highlight your fat? Ha! You crack me up, Carissa - I don't think you even come close to qualifying as fat!
#5 - Hope she starts feeling better and the prunes start working!! My babies are nursed only up until about 7-8 months and they have all gone for up to TWO WEEKS without a BM. Needless to say, with our first baby this made me completely paranoid and I feared terrible things. But when the babies went it was completely normal. Now I know it's nearly impossible for a nursed baby to be constipated. Would it possibly help to do more nursing and less formula??
Have a great week, Carissa!
Adorable pics! So sorry you're babes have been sick, too. That's always the pits!
Happy Monday! So sorry that your little ones have been sick~ we've had runny noses for what seems like years! Love the pics~ they are so sweet!
Seasonal allergies have taken over our house for weeks now. I'm ready for the runny noses and sneezies to go away. Hope everyone gets better soon. Love the pics - they are precious!
Poor thing about the constipation. All our little ones had that problem. Even Z to this day is still plugged. As for the breaking out. that happened to me when I was preggers a lot. It's the hormones my dear. Hormones*sigh* Thanks so much for sharing Pictures. Will be praying that the little ones get better so you are able to go to church more.

Those pictures are TOO FREAKING CUTE!
Love leggings. If only I had a multitude of really cute longer shirts to wear with them. Have to hide the booty.
Be blessed...oily skin means you won't have wrinkles right:)
Your kiddos are too cute, as usual! Poor Sage, baby! Probably TMI, but my GG poops at least twice a day on most occasions! I cannot imagine going as long as Sage did! Glad y'all have got a new diet regimen for her and hopefully the prunes will help!
Haven't tried jeggings but am a fan of just plain old leggings. They are amazingly flattering!
AWwww!! I'm sorry the little one has been sick! Something is going around and I have felt icky for the past week! I hope he feels better!
I'll have to check out the Oxy face wash!! I have such a hard time finding a good face wash!
Happy Monday!
xo
Hi! I am a new follower of yours. I read some of your blog and it really is great! I'm sorry your baby has constipation issues. I hate that! I run into that every now and then and it is NO fun. Stop by and see me when you can!

Carissa,
I totally understand the sickness issue with 2 small kids. That was our entire last fall! It was hard and my girls were getting things back to back. They have seemed to do much better this year and so I am hoping that age helps!! I hear you about leggings. I am slow to get on the trend wagon but they are so very comfy. I haven't tried any jegglings yet. Hope this is a healthy week for you all!
It will be quite a while before I can wear Jeggings. I am envious of my daughter! Poor Sage. She doesn't appear to like those Prunes too much. Hope she gets regulated soon. Hunter is too cute. Those facial expressions are adorable. Have a great day!
my daughter had problems pooping when she was a baby too. our doctor suggested a tablespoon of brown sugar in one bottle a day (she was preemie so we weren't able to breastfeed). The brown sugar worked great! maybe you could try adding some to rice cereal too!
I love the photos. This is my first week over here. I remember when my SIL told me that babies can be constipated for days. I thought, "What?". I could not believe it. But yes, they can.
Thanks for hosting this meme. I love new ones to link up to.
I love my Jamison in her leggings and I do think they are cute. Good for it. Jamison had a poop problem and we gave her prune juice which worked pretty well for her. There is also a Rx that could help too if you want to go that route. Sick vs. church...We have that too and we usually stay home and worship at home (well one of us stays and the other goes). Or we have grandparents watch the kids. That's a tough call, one you should pray about and see what God says. We don't stay home for sniffles though or light coughs...just the real nasty stuff that I couldn't want any other kids to have.
SO excited that I finally participated! I've been reading your blog for quite a while, not sure why I have never joined the fun, GEEZE!
Hope you're having a fab Monday morning :)
Hope the babies get better very soon. And number 3, really? I'll have to check that out.
Love those facial expressions from both babies!
Hi! I am your newest follower. I love your blog, and I pray that mine would be a blessing to you

Hated to hear about the little ones being so sick..seems germs are passed around everywhere really badly this time of the year (church especially). Do they still make prune-orange juice for little ones? I'd always heard that was helpful with constipation. Way to go on finding a way to do highlights for free! :-)
Sick kiddos is no fun at all...and I always got the feeling that a lot of our sickness used to come from the church nursery! The pooping thing is always hard to deal with. My two year old has been having issues lately, so he gets miralax mixed into his milk a few times a week too.
carissa, i officially dub you best brownie maker in the world. thanks for sending some here with kelly.
You look so beautiful Carissa! And your salad from yesterday...divine! Oxy, oh Oxy. It bleaches EVERYTHING it touches. I've ruined many a towel with oxy. In face, while staying in Paris I had to PURCHASE a towel that I had ruined with my Oxy at a hostel...um, not so awesome. I'm shocked by how many people link up here on Misc. Mon but don't take the time to comment. I don't know... I'm kinda annoyed about that. I guess I shouldn't be. But I am. 12 days with no dump is RIDICULOUS! Just feed her a Spicy Hot Chimichanga! That'll get her going in no time!!! ;)
I'll never understand why hair coloring cost so much!!! It's crazy!
Hey girl! LOVE your blog. My kiddo also didn't go regularly. We started him on solids around 6 months and even before that he was only going once every 2 weeks! We went to see a specialist. I went off dairy and soy. We fed him prunes mixed with miralax EVERY morning. All that to say, as soon as he started eating regular solids he pooped several times a day. Even at the beginning with bananas and rice cereal he wasn't regular. It wasn't until there was just that NEED for a dump that he went ;) Most natural-ists say that its totally normal, but I, of course, panicked. Which is okay. Praise Jesus he goes normally now, but for those few months I was scared to death. I think its normal for breastfed babies, but it makes you wonder what their tummy feels like, ya know? Hang in there and maybe try more solids (like fruit and stuff.) we tried apple juice, pear juice and none of that worked. Finally, prunes, pears, bananas and the occasion avacado did the trick. Hang in there, girl! You are doing a great job!
Thanks for hosting, Carissa!
I haven't participated in a while as I didn't feel like I had enough time to visit the links (and what's a party without visiting?!). It's so great to see Sage and Hunter getting big and hearing little tidbits of your life.
I want jeggings too! Walmart has them for $3.50 in baby sizes, I bought some for Lily. They look soooo comfy. I'll have to try some on...
12 days, holy COW! Poor baby girl, hope the prunes get to work.
That salad you posted (yesterday?). Oh my gosh. Seriously. Yum. Thanks for the recipe, hope to be back to being a regular around here. :)
I too have the gift of oily skin... and am still waiting to see it's giftedness!
Our church also had the germs problem - I got them to buy some special sanitizer spray that was totally safe to put on the toys and that made sure there were no germs on the things the kids sucked/played with. I know your dilemma though - such a pain!
i don't like highlighting fat! haha esp when the scales keep rising and i know the end isn't in sight for a few months!
as for baby girl and her dumps! haha...and boooooooo
i hate it when our babies are constipated!
I hate having to miss church because of sickness! Autumn was running a little fever Saturday night and coughing just the slightest but we skipped out on it because I didn't want her to spread any germs!:( Hope those sweet babes of yours start feeling well and stay well for a while!
I admit I've eyeballed the jeggings a few times. I just haven't gotten brave enough to try a pair yet!
What a cute smile Mr.Hunter has! :)
It's fun to look at the kids here on your blog, but to think that in two weeks we'll see them in person is even better. You and Kelly too. We are getting excited.
hey carissa!! jeggings are awesome, you must get a pair!! and i've been highlighting my hair for awhile and i think it's damaged boo.. not to mention uber expensive! can't beat free highlights!! and soo sorry to hear about your baby sage's BM probs.. hope they get better soon!
Jeggings are AWESOME!
Prunes are icky, and my babe also dislikes rice cereal! Poor thing, poop issues are no fun, especially for baby!
Hi! New follower here from the Charleston area!
aw poor little loves. :( i hope they both start feeling better soon! the pictures are too cute.
much love,
xx.
Hi, Carissa! I enjoy reading your blog, also! Your little ones are beautiful! Hope you're doing well! I need to do your little Miscellany Monday sometime! :) Fun!
