Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. sagey baby.
she is officially half a year old.  it was all a blur.  i have a feeling that five years from now i'll look back on these beginning years of babies and wonder what happened.  that's what a blogs for, though!  in honor of her sixth month birthday, she can be summed up in six words: cutest thing ever and high maintenance.  but oh do we love her!  with great sorrow, comes great joy... she smiles bigger than ever but also cries louder than ever.  the more she can look around and see her brother, the happier she is.  oh, and she pretty much prefers to be held by ONLY her parents.  and she would prefer to be on my hip every waking second of the day.  i can't say that i mind;  she is so precious to me.  and our trend of big babies continues... she's in the 90th percentile.  mommy is getting buff.

2.  please pray.
a dear part of our church family is having an unexpectedly tough christmas season (which reminds me of this post written by my dear friend, rachel, whose husband battled cancer five years ago).  imagine one day everything being seemingly fine, and then finding out that your 4 yr old has cancer and needs immediate surgery and chemo?  few of us could even begin to imagine what it would be like to traverse such deep waters.  my dad died of cancer, but it's way different when it's your child.  your baby.  the one that you spend your days protecting and nurturing.  visit their family blog and pray for precious ansley.  she is the cutest four year old i've ever laid eyes on.  pray that the peace of God would dwell richly in their hearts and lives in the midst of extreme hardship.

3.  reflecting.
and now i'm reminded that life can change in an instant.  what was once priority becomes null and void.  no matter what, God is faithful and is the same yesterday, today and forever.  He is God over all.  He is the same God after a cancer diagnosis that He was before.  and i'm also reminded to hug my kids as much as possible, spend more time with them, worry less about the laundry and more about showing my children Christ.  and as our family is in town for the next few weeks for Christmas, i'm going to enjoy being with them more than ever and cherish every single moment.

  2. Sage is just beautiful, Carissa. Boy, am I ever familiar with the high-maintenance kind. But as expressive as they are on the challenging side, they're even more expressive on the side that makes you laugh and smile from ear to ear. I just wish there were more of that side!

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to your church family and little Ansley. I'll head on over to their family blog.

  3. You described my Noelle to a "t" when you summed Sage up :) I think it's a girl thing! She's precious!

I will be praying for Ansley and her family. You and I share the awful bond on losing our fathers to the monster but you're right - it doesn't touch a child fighting the beast. I watched that firsthand through my mom losing my sister. We have come so far with pediatric cancer treatments, though! I pray Ansley's was caught early and that her treatments cure her quickly. God has His hand in what is happening to this family and, although it is often times hard to believe, His plan/timing are perfect.

Many blessings to you and your sweet family this week!

  5. LOL- High Maintenance...you just wait, HA!! Mine is almost 14 and she is killing me:) My 17 yr old son, he could live off $20 a month....funny the difference between boys/girls!

I am sorry to hear that this precious baby girl. I will def. be praying. That just breaks my heart. (((HUGS)))

And AMEN on the relecting part. I couldn't agree more. I hate how commercialized this season is. I was thinking yesterday, with all the things on TV/radio, I haven't yet heard the mention of Christ's Birthday :(

  7. Sage is so adorable! And my little girl was the same as a baby -- wanted to be held all the time and terribly upset by strangers.

And, that SAGE, is she precious of what! And, you are right, this time will soon fade into the far distance and you will only have a vague memories of the cries and high maintenance. But, you'll have vivid memories of that big smile and those times of cuddling.

Enjoy your family and blessings abundant to you!

  22. Happy half birthday Sage! She's a cutie!
I will be praying for Ansley and her family during this tough time. We had found out my cousin Michele had cancer this October... But we have seen a miracle in her life. I wrote about it on my blog. No cancer!!! When being diagnosed with Stage 4B cancer. All I can say is prayers are heard. And God can do miracles even in this day and age. I am a witness to that!

Will be praying for a miracle!

    Many blessings

  26. Beautiful pictures of your sweet Sage -- and you!

I'm praying for Ansley. I'd like to mention her on my blog as well. Would you that be okay? I just wanted to check with you first. Cancer is such a horrible beast. I will be praying for the Lord's healing hand for her, for peace and hope for her family, and that their Christmas, despite this, can be beautiful.

Love you, sweet friend. You're a blessing.
