because you're just dying to know what i do all day?! right?! in all my spare time. ; )
y'all {maybe i'm turning into a southern girl after all}, my life can be summed up in one not-so-simple word: crazeeeeeee. and yes, all those e's are necessary to fully stress the meaning of the word... after all, i've had two children under two for almost eight months now.
but guess what?! i love it. i'm thankful for all the craze.
i'm thankful for changing who knows how many diapers every day {because i could be using cloth diapers and not only have to change them, but rinse and clean them too}. i'm thankful for pumping milk 4 times/day for my little prettily plump girl {because formula is expensive. and this way i'm saving pennies while burning calories.}.
notice her massive amount of arm rolls. just means there's more to love.
it is a blessing to be home with my kids all day. because i get to capture moments such as these...
they couldn't love each other more, and yet, they seem to find a way to every day.
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
(Psalm 127:3 ESV)
during the days while daddy is at work i'm lucky if i get to eat breakfast or lunch. which is probably a good thing since i have no ability to bridle my painstaking desire for chocolate. i'm a sweets person. i could pass up savory food all day long if it meant saving my calories for a lavish bite of chocolate. {yet another reason why i like to pump bottles... i burn at least 400 calories/day and something has to make way for the chocolate} which brings me to this recipe. best chocolate chip cookies i've ever made. thank you tyler florence. should it scare me that they are named "my big fat chocolate chip cookies?" probably.
which brings me to my workout time. i love to run... but the kids and i have been sick and sick people should not go outside in the cold and run; lately i've hung up my running shoes. so, this means i have a nightly date with jillian michaels {and it's really hard to workout late at night, but it's the only time that really works in the schedule}. i do about 20 minutes of plyometrics/weight training and then 15 straight minutes of abs. sometimes it feels like i have meningitis afterwards because i probably use my neck muscles more than i should and my abs less than i should. which is also why i don't have a six-pack like she promised. **sigh** okay, seriously though, carissa, there are more important things in life than exercise. i know, i know.
on to more meaningful things... i read the Bible while pumping {i love my ESV study Bible}. kelly says that i pump just so i can have 30 minutes four times a day to sit and do nothing but read. he's absolutely right.
oh, i should share some style tips. hmmmm. here's my tip: when you're a mom, get ready and learn to be okay with throwing style out the window. there will be no extra money for new clothes {no matter how cheap they may be} and the funny thing is, if there happens to be money in the clothing budget then you'll spend it on the kids. so just be prepared for that.
if you want to share a day of your life, head on over here!

I also have to do my working out at night. It's definitely the only time of day available, but it's OH SO HARD to do it after the baby is asleep. :) The couch and remote are always so appealing!
And I'm with you om the clothes...I've only bought a few things since E was born (and that was because of my largish size...why I need to workout!), but otherwise any extra money I use on her clothes. Even though she has a closest full! Go figure.
I also have a really hard time working-out in the evenings as my body tells me that its time for relaxing...hahha..Your kids are totally adorable and that photo of them hugging...awww so sweet!
Wish you a lovely day
Kisses
Ps: I am hosting a natural cosmetics GIVEAWAY later today! Hope you’ll join in :)
Oh my heavens that photo of the two of them melted my heart.
SO ADORABLE

Ok, so that made no sense....I meant I don't share much about my life except on Monday, lol :)
Oh, I have done those Jillian Michaels videos! Now I do Jazzercise at our church every morning. It's a lot more fun!
LOve this post pretty girl! Sage is soooo cute I heart chunky babies....Kelcee was such a chunky monkey and I loved all her little arm rolls :)
Soooo you sound like one awesome busy momma :)

My sweet tooth is GINORMOUS! I have the time to exercise now that the kids are grown, but not a lot of motivation...thank God for the dog for many reasons, one being that I do get out and walk him 3 miles every day! I love the pictures today! So cute!!!
My friend just sent me Lindens sea salt chocolate. WHO KNEW??? Oh my goodness. You have to try it. I'm not supposed to be eating sweets at all so my first bite was out of this world.
Good for you exercising at night. You're a rock star. I'm so tired at night I can't function...I'm sure you are too and yet there you are! WOW:)
I love her armrolls! I also love this post-it reminds me how blessed those of us that can stay home are!
P.S.-totally get you on the neck vs. abs thing!
I could just DIE over that picture of the two of them! They are SO precious. And those little arm rolls...oh.my.goodness. Adorable beyond words! What a lucky momma you are :) Happy Wednesday, sweet girl!
This sounds exactly like my daily life as well! Being a mom is a stressful yet rewarding job!
Love the photo of the two of them, so cute!
Now you realize that turning into a Southern girl isn't a bad thing, right?!? Some of us wear our y'alls with pride! Love the photos, those arms are adorable!
Loved this post, Carissa! And those pictures are so sweet -- Sage is such a darling. She is adorably chubby, my goodness, what a cutie! :) And I LOVE my ESV bible -- favorite translation! And who doesn't love chocolate? Or super uber amazingly yummy chocolate chip cookies? (it's not good to have me around if you've got cookies of any kind, or chocolate, I'll tell you that...;)) Loving the LOVE between your adorable kiddos -- too precious. :)
Much love! ♥

I simply love this! Gives me a glimpse into motherhood! Your babies are so very cute! <333
I received an ESV study Bible for Christmas this year and have fallen in love. It has taken at least a decade to drag me away from my NKJV Study Bible but it has finally been done. Great post!
Love it thanks for the glimpse into my future :) What blessings you have with those gorgeous and happy children!!
Sounds like my days for the past 6 years too! Except I think I probably eat way more chocolate than you and exercise way less:)
cute post! i think it would be so fun to spend "a day in the life" with all my friends! and i'm so glad you get those 30min x 4 to read every day, but i'm sad to hear you don't always get breakfast or lunch...guess that's what i have to look forward to in the future...:) have a great day, carissa!
I loooove the picture of them hugging, how PRESH! And your workout time is exceptionally better than mine, which must be why I'm not losing much weight. Ha! My 30 day shred is turning into a 190 day shred, or something of the sorts. I haven't even made it out of level one yet. I just now feel like I can survive through level one, figured I better keep it that way for a while. :P
Look at Sage grow, wowweee! She's adorable! Reminds me of GG when she was littler. She had tons of chunky rolls too and I just love it!
Laughing at your y'all comment...that is after all, my all time favorite word and I use it constantly, almost too much!
Hope you have a great day!
Love this! Thank you for giving me an inside guide how it'll be once my little one gets here! I know it'll be alot of change..but I can't wait at the same time! :-)
I want to know what you do with your kids while you pump? I've thought about exclusively pumping, but there's no way Brayden would let me pump that many times for that long. He tries to pull the cords out of the pump!
I have to say I miss days like these...mine are big and in school instead of home with me:-( Love love love the arm rolls...too cute!
HA! I feel like I could have totally written this post :) Yes to everything that you wrote! :) I just kept nodding and smiling as I read :) Don't you LOVE staying at home with your sweet babes?!? And yes... fashion is just out the door. *sigh* there will be a time for that again someday.
Loved this post :)
hey girl! thanks for linking up to "A Day in the Life"!!! I suppose i need to try that awesome choc. chip cookie recipe...just for my family and all....ok maybe i'll sample it to make sure it's good enough for them. ;)
And seriously...You know i already am so impressed with you as a mama and woman of God but when you shared that you read the bible while pumping...wow. that is awesome carissa. i have been telling myself i need to make time for that in my busy schedule. thanks for the shove in the right direction. :)
Wow, she's getting so big, and so gorgeous! You are definitely a blessed woman...with or without the new clothes!! ;)
I know what you mean though, I think I only buy myself a few items a year, always when the season changes. It's a bummer but so worth the little mischievous, diaper wearing, heart warming little monsters! Having kids is hard but the best thing I ever did!
Great post, I think I'm going to link up to this party next week, looks like fun!
I used to love reading while pumping too! It's actually a great way to relax and get in some ME time :) Respect your dedication to working out with 2 little ones...seriously! I'm lucky if I exercise 2 times a week!
I found you from the Busy Budgeting Mama blog link up and am your newest follower.
So happy to be back and able to see how much that sweet Sage has grown. The pic of your 2 is so, so CUTE! Am happy to be past the diaper changing stage but have to admit that I am looking forward to the grandbabies some day. NOT any time soon, of course, since the girls are only 15 & 17! Plenty of time. NO RUSH!
Haven't ever had an ESV. Might have to consider that one next time.
Chocolate chip cookies could be terrible and I would still think they were edible. Would have to say that the cacao tree was one of God's best creations. :-)
So enjoyed reading about "a day in your life." I cannot imagine having two so young, but you seem to have it all figured out at this point. I would think you get work out enough just keeping up with the two of them all day. :o)
Always love sharing in your day!
OMG lady I am right there with you balancing being a mom, wife, blogger, and business owner is a lot to manage.
I love what Kelly says about the pumping. And can your babies be any more adorable? Oh and you are absolutely right, never extra money for me, and when there is, I spend it on my kiddos!
I just loved reading this! It really just makes me realize even more my desire to be a momma...your crazy day is so enticing...no matter how crazy it seems! ;) On a personal note, I would love to hear from you about the sacrifices made, changes you all made, etc. so that you could have the wonderful blessing of staying home with your precious babies. Maybe you've posted about that before and I missed it? Happy weekend...LOVE, LOVE that painting you got, too! What a wonderful keepsake to cherish and pass down!
How wonderful is it that you get to stay home and take care of your kids. The next best thing is bringing your kid to work like I used to do, when my son was a baby. We have a family business and it was a blessing! I had to pump several times a day too! I look back and thin k, now how did I do that!!!! Patsy from
