1. brotherly love.
my oldest brother is 4 1/2 years younger than me. normally we are nice to each other minus the usual joshing around. he is not overly complimentary and mostly picks on me for the tiny bit of belly fat i now have (he obviously doesn't take into consideration that i had a baby six months ago). so anyways, the other night he saw a picture of megan fox and said that she is hot. (does that hot word annoy any other ladies like it annoys me??!! i wish they would just say pretty instead. it sounds more gentleman-like.) he then proceeded to tell me that i look like megan fox. clearly i do not. but, hey, i'll take it. basically my brother called me hot. hahaha. he's never going to live this one down.
2. trail of tears over toys.
i finally watched toy story 3 with hunter. it is such a good movie. hunter enjoyed it and now totes around my previously mentioned brother's buzz and woody from when he was a kid. when andy went off to college i cried like a baby. i mean sobbed. and then i reminded myself that this was animation and that my kids won't be going off to college for at least 16 years. phew.
3. move over paula deen.
i made a superb alton brown cookie recipe for a family get-together. sitting next to my cookies on the counter was a pre-made paula dean pie from wal-mart. i don't mean to sound snobbish, but once you start baking dessert from scratch you can never go back. it's not even hard to whip up brownies or cakes or cookies from scratch. it's so much tastier, too. i am glad the holiday's are over, though, because i can't handle anymore sweets. time to get back on the once-a-week-only-dessert bandwagon. can i get an amen?!
these were some tasty cookies.
4. twins?!
no one ever tells me our kids look like me. i'm totally okay with this because i find my husband very attractive. however, i think it would be fun hearing that they look somewhat like me. so here's a look at sage and i. now it's your turn to tell me that we look alike. that we're practically identical. twins even. pretty please?! at least entertain me for a bit. ; )

Aww you both look adorable:) Happy New Year, my dear
Wish you all the best!
Hugs and kisses
I cried like a baby too at Toy Story 3 - even the third time I watched it.
Those cookies look delicious and you and your little one are both beautiful (or hot, if you will!)
You guys are totally twins - I could hardly tell which one was you! ;)
What a cool brother - and yes, that hot word annoys me too.
Drooling over your biscuits I must add...
Those cookies look amazing! And I also get an icky feeling when I hear guys call women "hot". Hope you gave your brother a good ribbing for basically calling his sister a hottie :D. Too funny!
You crack me up, Carissa! :) I totally agree about cooking from scratch - or at least my family does. I do almost nothing "instant" in the kitchen because my family likes it made the old-fashioned way. It's good to feel needed!!
You need a matching hat than maybe you and Sage would look more alike? :) I'm not quite sure how this genetics thing works because in our family both my hubby and I have green eyes. We've ended up with 5 brown eyes and 2 blue eyes and none of them look like us?!
Toy story broke me too - I cried. It is super sad.
Cookies look delish and even persuaded me to pull out a cookie from the stash immediately after reading, so I'm typing through crumbs.
Totally Twins!
Carissa I am so glad we have "met" on here and become friends! You crack me up LOL......speaking of UP (hahahaha) yes I too cried like a baby and it reminded me of me being sick and Greg taking care of me and I had to get myself out of that zone quick, quick, oh and I totally cried during the Toy Story 3 part when Andy went off to college too.....
Your cookies look amazing....recipe please hahaha
Oh I feel ya on the younger brother scene mine is 9 years younger than me and when I was in my twenties I made the mistake of asking im if my outfit made me look fat to his reply "no Sums your fat makes you look fat" um yeah....brothers.....
LOL that your bro called you hot that is so funny never let him live it down EVER....hahahahaha YOu do look like Megan FOX and that is a BIG commpliment girlie....oh and I am with ya on the HOT.....ever since I heard Paris Hilton say it a bazillion times I was kinda over it LOL
xoox
Sums
Ha! I am in the same boat as you :) Noelle and I can't exactly pass as twins! What a funny story about your brother! I hope 2011 is a blessed one for you and your precious family!
Oh my word, EVERYONE always says my kids look my husband. Especially his side of the family. They're a little more begrudging to say it about my son, because he can't help but look like me. But my daughter...it's all the time "Oh, she looks JUST LIKE B..." and I'm like, thanks. I only grew her in my womb, and birthed her without meds, and feed her milk THAT I MAKE MYSELF, no to mention we do share DNA. Ahem. I'm not bitter about it. That being said, I can totally see you in Sage. Amen.
And YES to the home baked goods. I try not to snub my nose at the store bought stuff when people bring it, but seriously? Think about all of those preservatives. Shame for shame. ;) Have a great week!
Must be an older sibling thing-my sister picks at me too! I take every compliment I can get from her:-)
I totally know what you mean about baking from scratch-it really isn't that much more work that a cake from a box! Those cookies look delicious!
And...p.s. You and Sage are totally identical twins!! ;-)
LOL, HOT! nope, I'd be on him like white on rice for that;)
Your prettier than her though!
I remember crying with my son watching a Tom & Jerry movie. Isn't it funny how we connect with these shows?!
Y'all are so twins!
Happy New Year Carissa!
I came across your website from a friend, and thought it's such a great meme.
Wonderful post, and I will do better next week with my miscellaneous stuffs.
Those cookies look delicious! Yum!
amen! ;)
Those cookies look wonderful!
I cry every time I watch "Woody Buzz" as Hayden calls it. And I too finally come out of my tears when I remember my kids are still young!
love this fun link up! thanks for doing it!
have a great day :)
I don't like the word "hot" when referring to woman. Although now that I've entered menopause, my husband is constantly telling me how "hot" I am! Oh those cookies looks so yummy, and you photographed them so well. Can you believe I've not yet seen Toy Story 3? My kids have, but I have not. Oh and you and Sage, definately twins! Have a great day!
I love that your brother called you "hot". I have to say I have mixed feelings about that word, sometimes it bugs me, and sometimes it doesn't LOL.
Oh, and you and Sage are totally twins! Happy New Year! =)
oh my gosh - you and sage are TOTALLY twins!! haha Feel better? :) I love the pictures - so cute!!
I'm still giggling about your brother...:P
I totally can't even tell a difference between the two of you. Are you sure that she is in your arms and that you aren't just looking in a mirror?!!
I BAWLED in the theater when we took Autumn to see Toy Story 3! GREAT movie!!!
First off girl you are hot. Not sure if you look like Megan Fox...she's a little anorexic looking for my taste. But you are definitely a cutie patooty! Oh and we all watched Toy Story 3 on break (I'd seen it before)and my honey actually made sounds while he cried. It was brutal. They sure know how to tug on the heart strings with those movies. Loved the pics:)
Just found your blog through another I read. I really like it and this is a great meme! And, after looking at pics of your family, I think your kids look like eachother. :o)

Those cookies were so delicious,I know as I had the opportunity to eat a couple. Your baked goods are all so very good.
The older Sage gets the more she looks like you. Her eyes are yours for sure and her cute marshmellow cheeks are like your's when you were a baby. Her nose is her's alone and that is okay. You are almost twins just a few years in between.
It's quite a compliment to have a brother say you are "HOT".
Yes, I really dislike the word 'hot' meaning pretty. Ugh.
Well..you're almost twins...I see lots of resemblance...
LOVE YOU!
Lulu
P.S. I have 50 Followers on my BLOG! YAY!:)
haha. I cried like a boob during that movie.
I'm in the same boat on the kid-look-like-me thing. Both boys are twinners for my hubby - every now and then little monkey looks a teeny bit like my little brother....so yes, she looks JUST LIKE YOU!!!
Cheers,
The Survival Mama
She does look like you.. no seriously... she does! :)
The cookies look delish!
Oh I love love love Toy Story! It totally made me cry!
Those cookies look deelish! And I think Sage is definitely her Mama's girl :) Adorable photos of the two of you!
Amen!! Oh yeah twins...all you need is a matching hat and no one will be able to tell you apart! Loved the brother story...he called you hot...LOL!!! Desserts from scratch are absolutely better.
yummy cookies! I see similarities in your eyes.
I think you look alike. You're both adorable and beautiful!!
I was meaning to link-up yesterday, but when I woke up I couldn't write due to the shoulder. I love my Mondays -- next week, my friend!!
And thank you for your so sweet and kind words to me. And your prayers. I am so grateful.
Rachel
Oh I can totally see the resemblance between you and Megan Fox! And those cookies look delish ~ nicely done!

Happy New Year! :)
You are totally hot...I tell you this all the time. One dessert a week, maybe I should try that WITH the shred, I'd probably see some GREAT results!
I think Sage looks a lot like you!
and I sobbed, SOBBED in Toy Story 3. It was the saddest movie!
those cookies look amazing!
oh that movie makes me sob. Even my hubby cried in the theater. It tugs on the heart!
The cookie pic is fabulous. I'm sure they taste even better than they look...which is dangerous! :)
the cookies look very yummy and sage is just too stinkin' cute and yes, she looks just like her beautiful mamma!
