miscellany monday.

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. welcome to the 2000's.  i finally did it.  probably an entire decade late.  but hey, better late then never.  i signed up for electronic bill pay.  i was out of stamps and checks; i figured there was no time like the present.  now, if only i hadn't waited so long... i would've saved hundreds on stamps.  what are they like $1.89 these days?!

2. shattered dreams.  i mean knees.  my left one in particular.  i love to run; i used to run 30ish miles/week.  the day hunter turned six weeks and i got the green light from my doc to exercise i ran five miles... i love it THAT much.  in the recent months, while running, when i hit mile two my knee feels like giving out/shattering/collapsing.  it can't be good.  i'm scared to go to the doctor.  plus it costs money.  way too much money, even with insurance.  i'm bummed.  as always, there are way more important things in life than a hurt knee (i have to remind myself).

3. thrive project, week two.  the rule of thirds.  this is a good example of the rule of thirds that my father-in-law took a while back:

see how the plant is off-centered?  you imagine your photo having a 3x3 grid and you line up your subject where the lines intersect.  it makes your photos more artistic and interesting.

my off-centered hunter shot.  love this boy to pieces.

for more on the rule of thirds, visit sweet becky~

4. hunter lovin'. so don't hate us, but we had 60 degree sunshine weather this weekend.  we enjoyed it saturday but then got sick on sunday.  see, you don't have to hate us THAT much (and please forgive me for using THAT much twice in one blog entry).  we visited the pitt street bridge (if you live here and haven't been, GO.) and enjoyed the scenery...

hunter had a blast walking everywhere like a big boy with his daddy.  hunter will be two this week.  my mind can't even fathom it.  it's bittersweet.

Oh Carissa, I am so sorry about your knee. Gosh, my ankle is just now better so I am able to run. For years I had issues with mine. Although I have never been the high mile runner like you are. I will say a prayer for you. I hope your 100% better really soon!

Happy early bday to your lil big man:) Time flies so fast. Breaks my heart.

Hope your week is filled with blessings,
Daph

I love the pictures. I always wanted to take gorgeous pictures. I have a great camera but a poor eye : (

As for the knee.... I am sorry about it, but remember to take care of yourself too.

We had awesome weather too and spent a lot of time outside. It makes me long for spring! Sorry about your knee- I'm no runner, but I can imagine that not only hurts but frustrates you as well.
Have a great week :)

With your knee- it could be many things of course, but it sounds just like runner's knee which is very common in women and isn't a major injury. Try getting it checked out, or research runner's knee and see if it sounds like what you have. I always get that feeling my knee's about to give out when I have it.

We had gorgeous weather this weekend too and had to take full advantage because we may be getting snow tomorrow! Happy Monday!

The picture of Hunter and Daddy is heavenly!! Great shot :) You know I so feel your pain (literally!) with your knee. I pray it gets better for you very soon and without any medical intervention. I got a good lecture from the surgeon last week about how horrible running is for me and how I should switch to swimming. I'm sorry, that's just not going to work for me! I am a RUNNER! I hope we're both back at it soon :) Hugs to you! I hope you have a great week, sweet friend!

I just started paying bills online a month or so ago, all because our utilities company JUST DOWN THE ROAD...lost our payment in the mail (you know, it takes the mail man like 30 minutes to finish his route and take it to the post office) so I said forget this, and started paying them online. It's so much easier!
So sorry about your knee, that's a bummer! Have you ever heard of MSM? It's a great supplement for joint pain. My Dad takes it for a bone spur, and at the vet we gave it to dogs with Hip Displaysia. Might be something to check out!
Love the pics from your gorgeous weekend! It was almost 80 here on Saturday, so we spent it outside! Beeeautiful! Have a great week...

Love your off-centered pics..especially the one of your sweet boy :) And a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him this week. Time is flying boy, enjoy all of those walks on the bridge :)

So sorry about your knee :-( I'll admit, I hate to run and am not good at it...but I know people who love it, and I know how hard it must be to have a bad knee. I hope it's all good and you can still enjoy it!

Love the pic of your sweet Hunter and especially the last one...how precious is that?! So CUTE!!! We are getting ready for an ice storm...that's the weather here :-) Take care!

Great pictures, Carissa. I love the one of Hunter.

I'm so sorry about your knee. Todd used to run and then his knee started to bug him as well. The bummer? He loved running. But, knees are expensive. And not easily replaced....

And, that last picture? A treasure. You'll value and love that picture so much in the years to come.

By the way -- I linked up -- it felt great to write a miscellany. Thanks for keeping this meme going. :)

Blessings and thank you for your kind words.

You are an awesome friend. Just saying.

Rachel

I recently found your blog, and have really been enjoying your posts! I had problems with my knees this year, too. With me, I would feel like my knee was "loose," and it felt like it was popping out/collapsing. Weight training with a physical therapist ended up really helping -- my quads were weak, especially on the inside of my knees. The PT told me the quads hold your knee in place, and imbalanced strength in those muscles can cause problems. Of course a doctor’s advice would be best, but maybe you could try some squats, quad sets and extended leg raises at home and see if it helps… Of course make sure your legs, not the joints, are feeling the burn. :)

SO sorry about your knees girl. I wish I loved running that much. 5 miles the first time out...you are a rock star! GO to the DOCTOR!!!

The thirds pictures you posted were perfect examples. You got it! And that last one with the palm trees about made me cry. I need to move!

I hope all is well with you knee and you're able to get it checked out soon so you can go back to what you love! I need to start walking! That picture of Hunter is just amazing...I see why you love him to pieces :) I've thought about signing up for bill pay but I just haven't so you aren't the last person ;)

Jenny said...

I know how you feel about going to the doctor! I hate to go and pay so much money unless I feel like I am dying. Hope your knee gets better on it's own so you can start running again!

Oh, you girls just kill me with you running. :o) Me and my trusty treadmill will just have to keep plugging along. The thought of running causes me pain. :o) Do take care of your knees, you are way too young to begin having trouble.

Thanks for the picture tip!

Happy B'day to sweet Hunter!

Sweet blessings for a beautiful week!

I joined in on Miscellany Monday!

PS - Your baby boy is SO precious! It looks like you have beautiful weather down there... My husband and I are planning a trip to Hilton Head in April and I can't wait!!

Wow! I can't believe Hunter is turning two!!! Emma just turned 3. I'm still in denial.

I'm sorry about your knee and I can totally empathize with you. I injured my right knee over the summer and haven't run a mile since :( Still haven't been to a doctor, knowing I'm going to hear the word surgery (yeah, it's that bad and still hurts ridiculously just getting up and down). Since then, however, Jillian Michael's and I have become best friends :)

Hi! I just discovered your blog and love the Miscellany Monday idea! I hope your knee heals soon. :)

That last picture is great! We had nice weather {in tehe 70's} this weekend too, but I think the cold is coming back soon. I can totally relate to the knee thing. My right knee is full of arthritis and running just isn't going to happen for me for a long time!

I also had trouble with my knees after having babies. My sister suggested it might be patellar-something-or-other. Basically a tendon is loose, or pulling away from where it is suppose to be. Anyhoo, I wrap tape under each knee to provide pressure and I can run again! There are so many things that can go wrong with knees, but it's worth a shot . . .

Looks likes a fabulous weekend excursion!! Oh to have 60 degree weather, sunshine, the beach, and palm trees!! That would do my soul good right about now. :D Happy birthday to your sweet Hunter!

And that running thing...craziness! I wish I would enjoy running just one mile. Whew!

I still have yet to go paperless and do online billing!! I've paid one or two online but haven't went completely paperless.

A couple of weeks on an exercise bike should put your knee straight and you can pick up running again - that's what they told me last week anyway!

Shannon said...

Just like the others, so sorry to hear about your knee! I know how horrible injuries can be, especially when they effect something you love to do.

I hadn't thought about the whole picture and off center thing before but you're right, it makes for a lovely photo.

Those pictures are great, the one of H and H and his Daddy are too good!
