it's easy to put your best foot forward on the internet. i think we're all pretty good at that. in an attempt to be sure that you don't think i have myself all put together, i introduce you to the confessions of carissa:
:: i like chocolate. way too much chocolate. it's close to an addiction.
:: i like exercise. it helps with the chocolate problem.
:: i think too much about myself. my weight especially.
:: i used to be proficient in multi-tasking. until i had children.
:: i'd rather stay in my jammies all day and play with my kids than do chores. i do this too often.
:: i'm frazzled. i'm clumsy. i'm nervous.
:: i enjoy politics. now you think i'm a freak, huh?!
:: i get especially nervous at the check-out line when i'm getting ready to pay. i feel like i'm being watched.
:: i like to play pretend. i do school (almost) everyday with hunter just so i can play teacher.
:: i like to pretend that our dog, banjo, is a monkey.
:: did i mention i'm weird?
:: i over-analyze. everything. my mind often feels like exploding.
:: i worry.
:: i want long hair just so i can pull it up in a pony tail.
:: i don't mind being alone. although alone right now means being with two kids.
:: i've only visited my dad's gravesite once. he died when i was nine. i'm 25. isn't that strange? i just can't bring myself to do it. (and, i live 3,000 miles away from it. so that might have something to do with it.)
:: i'm insecure.
:: my daughter is 8 months old and doesn't like to take naps. she is crazy. i've tried everything. she'd rather jibber jabber in her crib or cry for hours. but i love her.
:: i worry too much about the nap situation.
:: i don't like taking showers. but, i tell myself to be a big girl and that proper hygiene is a good idea.
:: cancer breaks my heart. my greatest fear in life is cancer. my dad died of cancer.
:: i stay up way too late.
:: i miss my nose ring.
:: i'm gullible. my husband convinced me once that goldfish chirp like birds.
:: i have a new obsession with photography. now if only my skills would follow suit.
:: i don't share Christ enough.
:: i have a weak bladder. i peed my pants on my honeymoon. and many other times in my life that i'd rather not remember.
:: i have had four surgeries on my stomach (not plastic surgery, real surgery, just to be clear). geesh. maybe that explains the weak bladder.
:: i've had seizures and couldn't drive for six months. that was a bummer. if you have experience with seizures, aren't they the weirdest things?! oh wait, i have a funny (kind-of) story... in the midst of not being able to drive for six months, i did drive one time. and it was only like two blocks. during that not even five minute drive, i was stopped at a police checkpoint. i've never been so nervous in my life. i thought they'd hall me away and put me in the slammer for life. the good news is that the police officer didn't have my doctor's chart in front of him. whew. see, i told you it was only kind-of funny... i promise, you had to be there.
:: i don't like talking on the phone. unless it's my man on the other end. : )
:: i love my husband, but i don't tell him enough.
:: i'm afraid that my kids are behind in everything. it's probably because hunter didn't crawl until after 12 mos. but, guess what? he's catching up just fine.
:: i don't have a computer or a printer. the good news is, i get to use my honey's work laptop when he's home. i throw myself pity-parties because i want a computer.
:: i'm pathetic.
:: i'm a mess.
:: i'm a sinner.
:: i'm saved by grace. through the work of Christ's death on the cross and his raising on the 3rd day, God has reconciled man to Himself. i can know God through Jesus. my sin's are and will forever be forgiven because of the blood Christ shed.
:: i rejoice, because of Jesus.
~::~::~
on another note of rejoicing...
today is my hunter's 2nd birthday. we are going to do whatever he wants! well, almost. otherwise he would starve (he hates eating) and i would not be able to walk by this evening (horsey rides are his favorite). can't wait to report tomorrow on how our day created by a two year old went! i cannot believe this picture is already a year old ~

Happy 2nd Birthday to Hunter!!! I cant believe that he is two already! Btw: I also worry way to much and I could honestly eat chocolate all the time...hahah
Hugs and kisses,sweetie
Ps: I am hosting Paloma’s Nest GIVEAWAY later today:).Just in time for Valentine’s Day!
I loved getting to know more about you! You're totally not weird...or maybe I'm weird with you? hmmmm The goldfish thing is pretty funny too! That's ok, my hubs convinced me that gatorade is flammable (there was gasoline in a gatorade bottle when he started a fire one time). :-)
Those rolls on baby Hunter are TO DIE FOR. Love it!
Great post Carissa....no worries I have a weak bladder too and when I get really tickled well ya know the rest LOL....
Happy Birthday Hunter he looks so presh in his first bday pic
keep up posted on ya'll fabulous day
xoox
Sums
LOVE this post, Carissa! Funny and serious at the same time. Happy birthday to your sweet Hunter! Love that pic.
Much love!

Happy 2nd Mama birthday!
I have many of those same things on my list...I don't know if I am comforted by commonality or if I just feel "weird" too. lol
Just kidding.
I hope Hunter has a super silly and fun birthday!
Happy Birthday to Hunter! I love all your confessions:) I over analyze stuff too...but I think it is probably just making up for the people who never analyze anything! I love chocolate, but not exercise. That causes problems sometimes! I'd like to stay in pjs all day, but they look at you kind of weird when you walk up at the elementary school in them:) I hope y'all have a great day!
Awwww Happy Birthday cutie pie Hunter!!! I can't believe that pic is a year old either! wow!
oh, and dont worry, I have peed my pants way more than I care to mention too!! hahahaha!!!!
Hope yall have the funnest day!
Happy birthday to Hunter! I didn't realize he and my daughter were so close in age. She just turned 2. Why don't you have your nose ring anymore? I have a small one and I can't imagine ever getting rid of it. And, it's so stressful to worry about kids' sleep isn't it? I also spend way too much time worrying about my daughter's naps and night time sleep.
Happy Bday Hunter!! :) I love the nose rings and I am sad for you that Sage doesn't take naps. :( Also I have only had one abdominal surgery, but it weakened my bladder AND I had childhood Epilepsy so I can relate to the seizures and bot being able to drive. I didn't get my license til I was 17 and then it was almost immediately taken away for 6 months... got it back... taken again when I was 19. Thankfully that was the last time!
Loved this post! Pretty sure I can identify with the first two, and the fact that I don't like talking on the phone unless it's my husband. Sweet pictures!!!! Happy Wednesday! :)
YOU my dear are such a sweet heart. I so relate with you on many of your confessions. I too am completely addicted to chocolate. My honey's dad died of lung cancer...he never smoked. It rocked our world and made me scared of cancer. I think too much about my weight. I don't like talking on the phone. Showers exhaust me. I take a bath because I can lay there. See we could be twins;) Oh and you know I'm all out interested in photography right now!
Happy birthday to your sweet Hunter. What a sweetie pie:)
Love it.
Oh, how thankful I am for grace for a sinner like me! We are the righteous of Christ Jesus, new in Him. That makes me want to shout this mornin'!
Happy birthday to your sweet boy, hope ya'll have fun today.
I love this honest post.
What did you have surgeries for?
I love hunter's picture!
And I also love your nose ring!
awww happy birthday to hunter!! and thanks for sharing, it's fun to see a little secret side of you :)
I think this is one of the most real posts I have seen in a while... it's good to see this part of you. I think everyone has one and it's not bad at all :)
I love learning more about you!!!! I love that you are so gullible. Was it refreshing to be so open and honest?? I too am a serious chocolate addict! It's real bad. And I can't stand talking on the phone!!
Happy Birthday to your sweet lil man! <3
I feel the same way on some of these things. I really agree with a lot of them.
Happy Birthday to Hunter!
I like this! I don't like to shower either. I used to do the whole "sha-bang" everyday (shower, hair, make-up) now I don't even want to think about it!
Oh my goodness, I relate to so many things you said. Isn't that the beauty of being honest? (I suppose even when you don't have to..)So many of us 'struggle' and/or delight in the same idiosyncrasies. I, too am insecure...and worry so much about my children. I LOVE chocolate (or sweets anything) way too much...and yes, I have known to be 'strange' at times. Aren't we all? God blessed us that way.
Thanks for being so open! I think one of your great qualities is being so relatable ;^)
God bless!
Sweet post Carissa! I can relate to so many of these things... I would probably have believed that gold fish chirp as well :)
What a great post! I am totally with you on all of your worry and over-analytical items. It was fun to get to know you better. Have a great day with the Birthday Boy!
I have a confessions series on my blog, too! Started it last November and they seem to get some interesting feedback every time i post. http://withallherheart.blogspot.com/2011/02/confessions.html
Love all these confessions:-) It is so good to know we all are human, thank goodness God saved us by grace. Happy Birthday to your adorable boy!
Thank you for humbling yourself enough to make this post. It's so great to know we are not alone in our quirks and it was fun to read. Your right that we all put our best foot forward but the truth is in our ENTIRE selves and that is what we need to share. Thank you!
happy birthday to Hunter and I can relate to oh so many!! like really. I have a weak bladder and I've just had 1 sugery!! yay for depends at 40! jk!
We have so much in common (being weird, worry warts, weak bladder, etc.). We could be twins!
Happy Birthday, Hunter!!

You are so funny! I love this post and Happy Birthday to your sweet boy!
I think you sound totally normal. The weird ones are those that think they're normal!
happy 2nd birthday sweet little hunter! and Sage! Getting so big and BEAUTIFUL :)
Happy birthday to Hunter! And I don't like to shower or talk on the phone either :)
Well, you sound totally normal to me! Loving your honesty. xoxo
this was incredible.. and it kind of spurs me to do my own list like this.
i miss my nose ring too. i really want to get mine done again. i worry too. all the time. i wish i would stop b/c i know it is needless.
i enjoyed reading about ya!
I don't like to shower either! I have to talk myself into it as well, glad I'm not the only one!!
1. My sister and I got our noses pierced this past August, and I have loved it! You would never know it though because I have to edit it out of all of my pictures on the blog. My extended family FREAKED when they found out. My grandmother cried. It was bad.
2. I peed my pants the other night from sneezing 4 times in a row. Disclaimer: I am 19 wks preggo with my second baby. I get a pass. :)
Great, great post...we share similar weirdness......your blog is the best
Thank you for being so open and honest and confession-y. Sometimes I read blogs and I wonder how every other woman in the world but me has it so together. Nice to know I'm not alone! and Happy Birthday to Hunter!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HUNTER!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! Hope you have a great day!!! :)
On another note, I love how honest you are on your blog. It's inspiring and makes me remember that I'm not alone with my craziness. You make me laugh, cry, and rejoice. I have missed catching up on your blog!!!
Happy Birthday to your little guy!! I totally agree with you on the chocolate, exercise, weight and a lot of other things listed! I just loved this post :)
Happy birthday to him.!!! I have a french bull dog also and we always call her a frog because of how she sits.!!
Great post Carissa and Happy B'day to adorable little Hunter! I admire bloggers like you who are not afraid to share themselves, now throw some of that courage out to me:-)
I think you're just GREAT! Really, who hasn't peed herself at least once???
Happy Bday to Hunter and I can't get enough of the pictures of Sage's cheeks!
This was a great entry and I love getting to know you better. Now, we have got to figure out a way to get you a computer. No joke! You "need" one of your own. I am glad that you have access to one because I'd sure miss you if you didn't.
Sending sunshine and rainbows your way!
I loved your post! And if you think you're weird i must be nutso :) I could relate to most all your points.
Hope Hunter had a wonderful birthday!
oh - and you looked great with a nose ring. You should get one again! If i was younger i would - or maybe I could set the trend for 37 year olds!
Loved your post! I hate to talking on the phone too..finally..I'm not alone! And happy 2nd bday to Hunter!!
Happy Birthday Hunter! I loved reading this post about things I never new about you. I love that picture of you with the nose ring. What happened to it, or did you just decide to let it close up?
Happy Birthday to Hunter!!!
You are always so easy to relate too! I love your honesty in your posts:)
Love your honesty. I over-analyze and worry way too much, too. And I get nervous when I check-out at stores...especially when I have a bunch of coupons. I feel like the cashier is going to get annoyed with me, ha! Love the nose ring look...adorable! And I hated naps when I was little...still do. They literally make me sick to my stomach and give me a headache if I take one. WEIRD. I've turned out just fine, promise! :) That sweet Sage of yours will too.
I can match all of these except about 5 :) I must be weird, too!
You have, what we call around here, PBS {Petite Bladder Syndrome}. It means that #2 can't have soda unless she's within 5 minutes of a bathroom.
I love reading about other peoples quirks, makes me feel a little more normal ;) Happy Birthday to your little man- my youngest is about to be three... crazy how fast they grow!
