grab the button, write random and link-up below. and thank you for linking up. seriously. you are the best.

1. put a poncho on please.
the few times that i actually watched the super bowl was during the commercials. isn't it a family show?! i saw way too many scantily clad women... i guess that's the usual case. but it never ceases to annoy me. modesty is a virtue, ladies.
2. shame on me.
due to a birthday party and a super bowl party, my children went to bed after 10pm the last two nights. their bedtime is normally 7pm. it could be an interesting day week.
3. almost Ansel.
the thrive project this week is about lines and contrast. these are ways to make your photographs visually interesting, they draw the eye in and keep it there. Ansel Adams was especially good with contrast. here are my almost Ansel (in my dreams) skills:
this is contrast... the bright orange sky over the dark ocean waters. this is off of Venice. as in Italy. we went there in the fall of '09... it was a business trip of sorts. ; ) a beautiful couple from our church flew us there to sing in their venetian castle wedding.
as if one glimpse of Italy wasn't enough, here's another...
this is an example of lines... the waterway draws your eye up the picture. there really are NO streets in Venice. no cars. all boats and waterways. it's remarkably stunning.

4. trails of tears.
Sage is 8 months old and still consistently cries in the nursery every week. once in a while they page me, but most of the time they are so very patient and try to soothe her. i feel bad for them and her. tell me your child did this too, so i don't feel awful. please. my Hunter rarely ever cried over the nursery. but then again, Sage is all girl and full of drama. : )

Wow, I really love those Venice pictures!
Your contrast and lines photos are beautiful!
My son doesn't just cry, he wails. Both at church and at the YMCA - sometimes they page me, sometimes not - but I always feel bad for both sides too :(
I kid you not - Rob and I were *just* talking about how long it took Noelle to not cry in our church nursery as we dropped her off (tear-free) yesterday! It took her a good four months to stop the drama but we had waited until she was 20 months to start leaving her so it's not a good gauge for you. And, Noah never cried when we left him so I totally support your girl theory!
Beautiful pictures, as always! The Venice pictures are breathtaking! I hope we get to experience Venice one day. I have a close friend who is going at the end of this month. Her husband is in the late stages of ALS and they are taking the 'trip of a lifetime' through Venice and Paris - talk about bittersweet!
I hope you have a blessed week and that the babes go easy on you with their altered sleep schedules ;) Maybe they'll be extra tired and nap really well! xoxo, Kelly
Oh Honey! I hope soon Sage won't cry. I hate to hear that. I remember those days.
Your images are gorgeous!!!! Now, I want to go to Italy more than ever;)
I hope your week is blessed,
Daph
Did you get caught speeding or you just know you were speeding? My kids were up late late this weekend too which is rare. We did have a mini meltdown this morning. Both of my kids cried in the nursery for a while...you are not alone. You photos are just divine!
Don't feel bad about the bedtime, it's been the same way for us here lately!
Those pictures are beautiful and I think I'd loooove to go there!
Christian cries in the nursery on occassion...he seems to do better when there aren't as many of the "older" kids in there:-)
Happy Monday!
Those pictures are AMAZING! I want to go to Italy!!!
Benjamin never cried in the nursery and Joshua rarely cried in the nursery (he is now 11 months old). But he is addicted to the boob and Benjamin was never that reliant on me! So I have a feeling he might give me a run for my money with the whole separation thing. Sage will outgrow it - you need time to worship without your kids, so you must keep on keeping on! She'll one day just stop fussing and you'll be like "oh! okay! awesome"!
Ellington has cried and cried and cried in the church nursery. Like you, sometimes they page me but they usually just try and do their best so that I can stay in church. I feel AWFUL about it but it's the only time all week I am not with her and I REALLY NEED it. The good news...yesterday I picked her up and she was PLAYING!!! They said she laughed and played all morning. What???!!! Hooray! She's 16 months old so it took us awhile to get there. :)
Ansel Adams...ohhh, I love his work...and girl, you are on your way...seriously, you are doing really well with photos!!
Precious Sage, I can't believe she is already 8 months!! I think I actually took a picture of my 8-month-old son with the nursery attendant and his face is quite red and swollen from crying...everyone told me it was a stage, but I thought it would never end...almost two decades later, I seriously can hardly remember (or believe) that he ever had a hard time anywhere!! Hang in there, it really is just a stage :)
Venice...simply gorgeous!!!!
I'm kind of new here and I have to tell you- I love your daughter's name! I hope she cheers up in the nursery soon!
those Venice pictures are gorgeous! lucky you for being able to go
There was one commerical with Kim Kardashian that was terrible. The kiddos had come back into the room with the adults and we had to pause it and then fast forward becasue it was so bad!
Bless your heart! Most of my kids went through this at one point or another. I understand how stressful it is! She'll grow out of it :)
Love your pictures! They make me want to go to Venice now!
Girl, your pics are amazing!! Love the contrast in that top sunset pic, gorgeous! My Q cried in nursery and the ladies weren't very understanding in there, hence why he no longer goes, even at his age. :sigh: So, at least you have some caring and understanding women in there...hopefully she grows out of it soon, for hers and your sake. :) Have a wonderful week, girl!
My son cried in MOPS all the time. He's almost one but has done it since the beginning of the year. I feel your pain!
Those pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!! <3
Great pictures, as usual! We spent some time in Venice in the 70's (I was 5) and it still looks the same!
The commercials were ridiculous!!!! Agreed! Put some clothing on!!!! Your venic pic is oh so lovely! Let's all do traveling posts!!!
There can never be enough glimpses of Italy :)
The pictures are beautiful! Ventian castle wedding? I would like to see pictures of that!
All my children have cried when I started leaving them in the nursery on Sundays. I found that it helped if I spent time familiarizing my kids with at least on of the workers outside of class time. It especially helps if there is a consistent worker who your kids get to know. I also have brought a few of my kids toys with them to help them feel more at home. But mostly, you just keep working at it and one day...it works.
your photos are seriously amazing!!!!
I'm with you on the modesty thing - it always makes me mad!
all three girls of mine went through seasons of tears in the nursery! it will get better! yeah for patient nursery workers!
Great photos! We have friends that are visiting Italy this week...that's one of my dream vacatations...maybe someday! Sorry, I accidentally entered the wrong link in my first link-up, #50. The correct link is in #51.
Your pictures are absolutely breath taking!!! That sunset...AMAZING!!! and yes, I agree with you...not enough clothing in those commercials!
LOVE the pictures!
Gorgeous shots!
The photos are amazing!!!
Those pics are beautiful!
Oh and I couldn't agree more...put on some clothes girls!!!
Those photos are amazing!! I love them! Ugh, I completely agree with on the girls who need to cover up at the super bowl.
Love those pictures. Oh to go to Italy! :) Um yes, modesty...one thing that's definitely lacking at the Super Bowl. Or should I say in our culture?!
Great pictures! LB constantly cries in the nursery so I rarely put him in bc when he is with us he is calm. I blame it on separation anxiety for us both ;)
Oh, can I just say that I agree 110% about the whole modesty deal! Indeed it is a virtue!
The pictures of Italy are WOW! I need to learn so much more about photography. I take pictures continuously but need to learn a whole lot more. I'm trying my hand at editing right now.
Always a joy to link up on Mondays, a definite highlight of the day. Hugs!
ok yet again i will link up when i get my groove back! haha
you didn't tell me about the sleep deprivation when giving birth....i blame you! KIDDINGGGGGGGGGGG
totally agree about the clothing about super bowl ads....pretty soon ppl will walk around naked...i mean how diff can it get?!
Wowza - that canal shot is amazing!
We couldn't leave our son until he was 18 months old. And even then only if a particular lady was there. We would wait around for her to finish with choir. At the time if frustrated me. By the time #3 came along (and needed the same lady!), I realized that the phase goes so quickly and it's kind of nice that they only want their mum.
Those pictures are beautiful!!
I love watching the Superbowl {for the food & commercials} and was really disappointed by some of them. I couldn't agree more; why so many scantily clad women? Also, did you catch the Pepsi commercial where the couple was on a first date? I won't describe it but it made my husband say "Does Pepsi still not realize that kids watch the Superbowl??"
Yet another reason why I love Coca Cola ;)
My daughter is 17 months and she just started crying when I leave her in the church nursery in the last month or so. It's gotten to the point where she starts whimpering as soon as we start down the stairs to the basement. They assure me that she's always fine within two minutes of me leaving, so obviously I have a drama queen on my hands!
My 4 year old is almost 5. She cries if I drop her anywhere. She could care less if her daddy leaves her. I tell myself it's because she loves mommy best :)
oh yes, my youngest clinged to me each time we dropper her off at church, clined to me everytime i took her to kindergarten class, clinged to me even in 1st grade and 2nd...she finally had more confidence in 3rd grade...she is now in 7th grade...social as a butterfly and doesn't cling to me but instead shooes me away : ( time is fleeting. she'll outgrow it. oh, and i do the baby room and toddler room at church and for the most part they get use to it. just be consistent by going weekly so she'll get use to it. ....sorry for rambling but i hope it helps.
anyhoo, if you have time come by... (haha yeah right with two little wee ones) i'm having a valentines giveaway. a handstamped necklace made by me and my favorite movie "the notebook" perfect for V day! however, i totally understand if you can't.
Love the photos from Venice - great example of lines! We're headed there next month - I hope to take just as breathtaking photos!
Wow, those Venice pictures are gorgeous! What a beautiful place!
Aubrey hates going to the nursery. As soon as we pull into our church's parking lot, she starts screaming. I was paged once and had to watch the rest of the sermon on a television in the pastors office. Since my parents don't go to church (sadly) they have watched her ever since. We will plan on taking her back soon to see if we can talk her through it a little better because I would really love it if my parents could go with us to church. Good luck hun!
OH my goodness girlie. Those were sooooo amazing. I really really want to go to Italy someday. I'm going to have to just stare at those for a while to get my fix. Thanks so much for linking up:)
Your Italy photos are truly gorgeous! Makes me want to go there ASAP.
Great pictures. This is my first time linking up to your party. I have a really random post about my shoe and boot obsession and I thought it would fit right in with your linky party. Thanks for hosting!
