1. don't waste your cancer.
i think we're all captivated by stories of heartbreak because we get to see how people cope, where they find their strength and how they make it through. it's beautiful to see Christ becoming someone's all... and it seems like this usually happens in the midst of the toughest trials. and then it's also a good reminder that as Christians, we are called to carry our cross - we are called to suffer as Christ did. and this looks like different things for different people. i came across libby's blog a few weeks back. i was instantly intrigued. she was diagnosed with cancer in june of 2010, shortly after their first child was born. after intensive chemo, she was recently declared cancer free. read her story, be encouraged, praise Jesus for her healing, and help if you can {see her sidebar for details on the nashville half marathon}.
2. i love my church.
this weekend our church had a missions conference {and i'm so thankful that our church puts a major, huge, ginormous emphasis on missions - you know like THE GREAT COMMISSION... the thing Jesus told His disciples (us Christians) to do}. there is nothing more compelling than hearing missionary's share their stories of people coming to Christ. it's amazing and heart-wrenching to hear about what is happening globally... there are several hundred thousands of Christians being persecuted for their belief in Jesus, right now, all around the world. persecution exists; read their stories at voice of the martyrs {and pray!}. you may think twice when you complain - i know i do.
3. lighthearted.
this miscellany is a bit intense. i know. i couldn't help but share certain important things on my heart. however, i should also say that my favorite choice for lunch lately is pineapple peach salsa... an entire jar eaten with a fork. and maybe some flax seed chips.

4. you're invited
to lynette's blog party ~

she's a dear, has a beautiful story of loss while finding hope in Jesus, and serves as an inspiration to many. hop on over, read her story, and join in.
5. a lil' dirt won't hurt.
if you read my last post, you could have been fooled.. hunter is all boy and does like to get dirty. his favorite thing is to be outside running everywhere. although he's been sick for almost eleven days now {bummer!} all his germs seem so far away when he's out in the sunshine.
i have to include sagey poo for good measure!

Isn't Libby's testimony just amazing?!?! Such a remarkable woman who has carried her cross so faithfully. So many will come to know Christ because of her testimony! That salsa sounds so yummy - will have to head to Target to pick up a jar :) Adorable pics of the babies, as always!! I pray Hunter feels better soon. Noelle has been sick for a while, too - so rough when they're so small! Many blessings to you this week & always!!
I find Libby's blog so inspirational as well!!! I need to try that pineapple peach salsa! I am sure that I would just LOVE it!

It is so true how we become captivated by the stories of others and how they prevail in difficult times. I think we would all find the strength if we were faved with the same sadness :) Love your little man playing outside...so great to see kids being kids!
flavored salsa's scare me.... hah!! I'm afraid to try them (how ridiculous do I sound right now?!)
I love to hear testimonies...they are so inspiring.
That salsa sounds interesting.
I'm excited about Lynnette's Blog Party too! I will be joining in the fun.
And I loved the pictures of your little guy outside in the sunshine! I wish we would get some sunshine to play in. I think maybe tomorrow we will!

thank you carissa! you're awesome!
I LOVE that salsa! Have a great day! :)
You have such beautiful kids Carissa!
I haven't joined in several weeks so I'm getting back in the swing of things! :-)
Your children are just beautiful! I have seen that salsa in Target but been worried how it might taste. {I'm a picky eater} However your not the only person that likes it. I might just have to give it a try.
We would love to find a great church to get in to. The last one that we were attending was a little too cliquey and hard to get involved with the church family. Glad your going to a great one! They are def hard to come by.
Hunter is getting so BIG! I am going to try and link up today (on monday) instead of wednesday this time!
This is my first time linking up to Miscellany Monday and I'm excited!
I adore Libby's story, her strength is remarkable! I went through a very high risk pregnancy, I have a kidney transplant and there are only a few other women in the world with my illness who have been able to have children. Needless to say it was an incredibly stressful adventure and we weren't sure if I was going to make it, or the baby. Well, our little miracle arrived last year! Every minute with her is a gift.
xox.
Oh, Carissa, I love your heart! Our church is very mission minded as well and it thrills my heart so much. So many lost and dying without the love of Christ. We are so blessed and often take it for granted.
I love the salsa's at Target, so yummy!
Always enjoy MM, thanks for being such a gracious hostess!
Even though it was intense, thanks for sharing those links! This post was so inspiring and it's so wonderful to meet other women with a passion for Christ.
I've never tried the pineapple peach salsa, but I'm seriously contemplating driving to Target just for a jar of that. It sounds yummy.

Pineapple peach salsa? Something I will most definately have to try. I am looking forward to Lynnette's blog party! It's gonna be fun. Your children keep getting cuter!
Mmm, that salsa does sound so amazing. I was actually going to make some salsa today, I wonder if I can replicate. Haha, hard to replicate something I've not tried, but hmmm, it's got me thinking. :)
I love what you wrote about being able to see how Jesus has become someones all through their adversity. So true, it's the iron that sharpens iron in this crazy life.
Your kiddos are just adorable, I love that pic of Sage and her little bare toes soakin' up the sunshine. Be blessed this week, girl!
I've never heard of Libby. I could totally eat that salsa with you.
I love kids and sunshine! And I think potty training is a lot of work. When she gets it it will be better than diapers but setting the timer every 20 minutes....Feels like time FLIES by.
I love that you share the important things as well as the fun, lighthearted stuff. That's why I adore your blog. =)
Some friends of ours have a very similar experience that they are going through right now- Heather found out she had leukemia when she got pregnant with her first child. She was able to have the baby and now she has just found a bone marrow match... her story is very inspiring too if you want to check out her blog. She has been on the news too.
