miscellany monday

grab the button, write random, and link-up below.

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. ocean waves.
john frieda used to make an ocean waves product that was perfect for my curly hair.  it tamed the curls, turned them to waves without the frizz.  and then they stopped making it.  oh the tragedy!  or they at least stopped carrying it where i shop.  it was overpriced anyway.  regardless, i have good news.  here's the recipe to make your very own:  mix 2 tsp sea salt (not table salt) into 1 cup boiling water until the salt dissolves.  once the mixture cools, pour into spray bottle.  spray your hair, comb it, scrunch it and air dry!

2. cash: a friend to your budget.
we use cash for most everything, minus gas and our bills (as long as i can remember to go to the atm).  when you feel/see twenty dollars slip through your fingers rather than just sliding a debit or charge card, it starts to feel like a whole lot more.  you double think every purchase you make to make sure you really want to spend the money.  it saves money in the long run.  and once the cash is gone, it's gone...  no more spending for the month.  if you want to stay in your budget, do this.  i'm preaching to myself, here, too.  : )

3.  a boy and his trucks.  and tigers.
hunter spent three hours outside playing in the rocks with his trucks at grandma's house.  it's so cute that little boys know how to be boys.

and the tiger/leopard part...

i found hunter feeding his tigers and leopard "cereal" (handy manny's tools) in "bowls" (upside down blocks):
(oh, their little imaginations are CUTE!)

4. sagey poo too!
(can't leave sage out of a post!) this is her favorite place to be... waiting for food.  : )  she can eat gobs of sliced strawberries and bananas.  and crackers.  my baby eats more than baby food already.  can't believe it.

5. thinking Biblically.
i love this blog, everyday mommy.  it's full of good, encouraging, compelling, and convicting Truth.  there are so many things vying for our attention; we must fight to fill our minds with Biblical Truth rather than anything this world has to offer.  i can so quickly and easily lose focus... instead of thinking eternal i start to gripe and moan about wanting new clothes or wanting a day to do nothing but anything for myself, etc, etc.  my mind wanders into meaningless territory that brings forth no good fruit.  it's a battle. i have to fill my mind with Truth.  "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:2 ESV)

happy happy monday sweetie!

i am loving your tip for the ocean waves!!! i'd say it's a little cheaper than my new bottle of morrocanoil curl cream!! i have to try this:)

your babies are so precious. gosh, time flies by. seems like yesterday, i could have taken these same exact images :(

we pay cash for about everything also. it's funny to see you had $$ then the next day it's GONE! you realize alot quicker that way just how much your spending for sure!

have a blessed week-

Thanks for #5. I need that reminder. I complain too much and think of myself as a martyr too much. It is a struggle for me.

I'm gonna to have to try and make my own! My hair gets so poofy when I use product, maybe this will help. =)

I'm your newest follower! Will probably link up today, too! Your kids are so sweet, love that little face of Sage's and Hunter is so cute with his tigers!

Awww! That pretend tiger feeding is so cute! I love seeing the creativity of little ones. I still think Hunter & Sage have the most kissable looking cheeks! :)

I've perused & read Everyday Mommy before, and I'm not a fan! I guess I shouldn't get into my reasons here ;), but I'm glad you can find encouragement there.

I guess it makes sense that salt water would scrunch your hair perfectly. My hair has a funky-uncontrolled wave that always seems to do better at the beach. And I just love your photography!!

Adorable cutie pies! Love the pictures of Hunter playing, and feeding his animals, that is so precious. Q loves to play with his tractors and trucks on the kitchen table, it's amazing how much time they'll spending with imaginative play, I love it!

Going to check out the blog you linked to, I like the sounds of it!

I used to use another brand of ocean waves that had an oil in it and you shook it up before spraying on...they stopped making that too. Thanks for the tip on how to make your own. Your little ones are so cute and I love the imagination! Makes me miss mine when they were that age!

Heather said...

I'm always looking for help with my wavy/curly hair, so I'll have to try that recipe. Thanks for sharing. Happy Monday!

Wow, I'd say that's cheaper! I'm sure lots will benefit from that tip. I haven't tried the cash system but I'm sure it would be good for me. I love my credit card reward points and the gift cards that they net me. I wonder how much I really "save", though. Maybe I'll test that theory with grocery shopping. Adorable pics of Hunter and Sage...as usual! Little ones' imaginations are simply amazing and precious. Thank you for sharing that Bible verse and site...heading over to check it out soon! Wishing you an awesome week ahead filled with abundant blessings! xoxo, Kelly

Don'tcha just love when you find out how to do something yourself instead of paying a fortune for it!? Glad you found a way to make your own John Freida :)
We have those same yellow trucks for our boys.
Thanks for promoting Everyday Mommy, I'm going to follow!

Peace :)

Great idea on the hair product! I'll bet you could add a little oil (maybe olive oil?) and a few drops of essential oil (lavendar?) if you wanted/needed it! My waves seem to come and go with age/hormones, etc. but I might just have to try that!! Have a great week :) Lisa

Thanks for the hair tip--I love it! Even though I live minutes from the ocean, if I don't prepare it before hand, it just turns in to one giant ball of friz. I can't wait to try this out.

Happy Monday to you!

We're trying the cash thing too, but gradually. Starting with food/eating out. We're hoping it will really help to put us on track to where we thing we should be. If not, we're moving to cash for other things too!

Feeding his tigers and leopards, soooo cute!

You always do the most uplifting posts and I so enjoy the smile you bring to my face. I love the animals eating, just how cute is that! And, Sage, is growing so fast. Seems she was just a little baby.

I think we all struggle with going over into "meaningless territory." What good words of wisdom and I love that scripture!

Special blessings to you!
