walking side by side.

my brother, Chad, is almost a senior in college and calls my husband his hero.  i can't blame him. my honey makes me swoon too.  it's really a beautiful gift to have someone to look up to.  someone you desire to imitate, to go to with questions when it seems like there are zero answers, to encourage, and to tell you when you're dead wrong {saved the best part for last ; ) }.  i've had people like this in my life - heroes - and continue to look for more.  there's something about a person who follows Christ with passion, lives life to the fullest, serves others, is honest in everything, and a well-rounded beautiful person.  i think about Hebrews and the faith hall of fame (Hebrews 11)... those are some serious heroes.  it's so good for us to have others to look up to in the faith.  when others have travelled the path before us it's wise to go to them for directions.

my little Hunter sure looks up to his Uncle Andrew.  Andrew is 12 {my youngest brother} and i've explained the responsibility of a role model to him.  let's hope he doesn't forget it.

and then there's my little sister, Melanie.  she's almost 11, wants to wear what i wear and begs for my shoes that are two sizes too big.  {her claim to my closet has been staked; now she's just waiting for me to kick the can.} so yeah, i gave that role-model talk to myself too.  : )

there are a few ladies at church that i have my eye on.  they're Godly wives, servant-hearted, graceful and wise.  i'm soaking it all in.  life is lived well when it's done within a community of walking side by side, prodding each other on in the faith, whether it's finding yourself a hero or being someone's hero or all of the above.

ps. if you've noticed the new-obnoxious-how-could-you-possibly-not-notice-watermarks {except for in the first picture... didn't want to cramp my style too much}, you'll see that i've jumped on the recent bandwagon to be extra cautious.  cause it never hurts to be too careful.  i've heard stories lately of people stealing blog photos to create fake families on facebook.  creepy.  weird.  i also am debating between disabling the right and left click.  we'll see.  the wordsmith leanna wrote an awesome post all about watermarking, in case you're curious.

What a great post about role models. I try to remember that there's always somebody watching and looking up to me. It's humbling, isn't it?

I love the pic of you and your little sis - too cute!

First off, how do you disable the right and left click???

Second, great post! The sad thing for me about the women in my life that I've admired is when they're not here any more.

Great post! I wanted to pass along a role model thank you to YOU - I've only been following for a few weeks and already I am inspired to share my faith more in my writing. Duh, it's a huge part of my life, why not include it in my writing? I guess I've been so afraid of offending someone that I haven't given glory where glory is due. So thanks for being a witness to me :)

Wonderful post, Carissa. I talk to all my kids about being role models -- my little ones really look up to the older ones.

And yes, I agree with you about the water marks. Hannah disabled the right and left click on her blog -- I think specifically for photos. It is really creepy what people might do. Thanks for the heads up.

Watermarks? They'll be on my photos now.

Blessings to you!

Amazing post. So true...every time one of my little siblings looks up to me I am again humbled and reminded to life a life worth having someone look up to.

wow, what a beautiful and inspirational post. It is so important for us to have these Godly individuals that we can look up to and know that we can trust their advice in any situation. Thanks so much. Reading your blog makes me more and more comfortable sharing my own faith on my blog.

Such a great reminder about role models! I know several wise (and so full of grace!) women that inspire me along the journey of motherhood. Loved your mention of Hebrews 11, it's the faithful whose lives speak the loudest. (Great job on the watermarking, too! I have disabled right click on my blog, and need to do left click, too...)

She is your little mini-me :)

I think as women in church it is so important to remember that if we have our eye on someone who inspires and encourages us through there walk, someone else is probably doing the same with us. I think of the teen girls who pop up and say "Hi T!" Ubber eagerly and hope that I'm walking with integrity and correctly represent life as a woman in Christ. Thanks for the reminder, and getting me thinking this morning.

I actually love the watermarks. Whenever I go to a site that has watermarks it immediately gives me a sense that the blog is more professional.

Yep, I'm on the search for a role model in faith for myself. Started reading the Bible and have lots of questions and just stuff I'd like to talk to someone about.

Hope you find yours!

Parents are role models and it's hard sometimes to remember that. Thanks for the reminder!

Your right about the safety. I used to watermark all my photos and then just stopped. However, I think that with all the weirdos out there that I should start back. Better safe then sorry!

what a great post! my husband has been doing interim youth work at our church, and i've felt called to be a role model to the young high school girls...meaning i've had to take a good look at myself and how i act and speak and reflect Christ in my life.

also, thank the Lord for the blog world and being able to connect and be inspired by fellow Godly women like you! you are definitely one of my blog role models :)

Truly enjoyed this post! It's a great reminder that you never know who is following your example. I think many people never even realize the influence they wield especially to the impressionable young.

i love this post so much- you have such a beautiful family... you look so much like your sister!! i had (well still have) a role model growing up and she was/is an amazing person- she often gave me advice, encouragement, and love. she set such a great example with her actions as well. :)

I JUST started watermarking my pictures as well a couple days ago. I'm with you. You can't be too careful with your pictures. Curious about the left/right click removal. Don't know how that works.

Loved this though. I love that your brother looks up to your husband. And your sister to you...

I would love to exhibit these qualities one day to have someone look to me for all they are to you both.

such cute pictures! I go back and forth with watermarking. I know I should but I don't always take the time. the right click thing is hard too because then no one can grab buttons off your page... hmmm. lol

yes, i agree....beautifully written.

What a beautiful post about role models. How fun that you have a sister so young who looks up to you! She is beautiful.

If I ever take any pictures, especially of family, I watermark them. So creepy what happens out there!

Beautiful post! Have a blessed Easter!

Oh, that gives me the creeps thinking that people steal images and use them for whatever...ugh! I may have to look into the watermark thing.
