what do you do when you're running through your neighborhood and come across the same red truck on five occasions, each at different places?
run faster than ever in an incognito fashion back to your house to tell your husband that a mad stalker killer man is following you.
AND then, once inside, you realize the truck happens to be parked a few doors down from yours... with someone sitting inside waiting for the opportune time to commit some sort of crime.
this is a true story people.
i thought i'd be chopped liver by the next morning. my apocalypse would be a day late.
until my hubby walked by the truck, saw an elderly lady sitting there and asked if she needed some help. her response: "no, honey. i'm just waiting for my granddaughter to finish up at her friend's house so i'm killing time."
phew. close call.
two.
fyi: kites always work best on windy days.
unfortunately this day was not windy.
and he has the face to prove it.
no big deal. it's nothing that a feeble attempt at tree climbing can't fix.

Sage is almost one. say whaaaaat??! she say's all sorts of things. of course, they are only things that the ears of a mommy could understand. her mommy, that is. but nonetheless, i know what she means and that's what counts. she is still too chubby for her walking muscles to handle; for now she cruises next to her shopping cart. Sage means wise - i always pray that she'll be wise not in the eyes of the world, but wise in the eyes of the Lord - anyways, Sage is an un-common name. mostly. until last week when we ran into a 3 year old little girl at our neighborhood pool with the name of Sage. i mean, what are the odds?! i must admit that my Sage is a bit cuter. okay, a lot cuter. ; )
four.
who ever thought saggy crotch pants - reminiscent of hammer pants -would be so diva-ish? i'm thinking only jlo with her most beautiful woman in the world looks could pull this off as she did. this makes me glad i'm not a diva. i wear make-up maybe twice/week and never even think about painting my nails. for me, life is easier without frills... in my humble opinion. : )
five.
a mountain view is in our future... it's still a few weeks away but i'm counting down. some very gracious angel-like people are letting us use their mountain cabin for a few days. i'm ready for a little r and r. i adore the star filled night time sky, the crispness and coolness that fills the air, the quiet, dirt ridden paths, the pine trees... it's all one big package of pure beauty. half my life was lived near the beach. the other half in the mountains. i can't decide what i like better. it's like trying to choose between heaven and heaven. i'll settle with either.

Those pictures of Hunter are SO cute!!!
I love your red truck story. It would be totally something I would do -- and my hubby would do the same thing -- walk right up and find, well, exactly what you found. :)
Glad you are safe. You had me worried. hee hee hee
And as for kites? In my 15 years of being a mother I can only count the successful kite flying ventures on one hand. Cool kite though. And, yes, that's quite the face when it didn't work. :)
And, no, I cannot believe Sage is almost one. You story about her name reminds me of my Brennan. We hadn't met anyone with his name and then the first time we go to our new church this lady tells me her son's name is Brennan. Go figure.
Linked up early -- crazy for me.
Have a sweet day. And I'm super excited for you and your mountain trip!
Blessings to you, my friend!
Rachel
I love how you post pictures, I need to get better about it, it would make what I say pop
Two of the cutest kids...EVER! They are both getting so big. It's very hard to believe Sage is almost a year. But, then I look @ mine and they're almost 6 and 3...how did THAT happen?!
I find myself being more and more paranoid (or is it aware?! ha!) while running outside. I always say a prayer of thanksgiving for the two cops who live in our neighborhood and almost always have their patrol cars sitting in their driveways ;)
I missed linking up last week and was so sad! Your meme is always a fun start to a not-so-fun Monday! Hope you're doing well. Looks like it with that mountain vacation on the horizon! I wish!
xoxo, Kelly
Loving that outdoor view ...how exciting and something special to look forward to :)
your Sage is WAY cuter! ;)
that's too funny about #1! however, it's so true...you gotta be mindful and be alert about everything these days. glad it was just a grandma killing time.
happy monday friend!
happy monday!
what marathon are you training for??
your babies are too precious. i hope today is a windy day:)
that's funny abt the old lady, lol. i have had my share of scares. thankfully she wasn't out for blood!
So glad I'm not the only one to panic when there are weird cars hanging out in my neighborhood. :)
I'm linking up!
I would totally do the same thing about that red truck!! Better safe than sorry, right?! :) Hope you guys have fun on your upcoming vacay!
Joined! Thanks for hosting!
The red truck would have totally freaked me out too :)
Haha, I would have done the same thing about the truck. Sage and Hunter are so cute!
Oh, that mountain view is breathtaking! I am sure you will have a wonderful getaway.
hey friend I've missed you like alot. We used to talk on here every day. Wow I can't believe Sage is almost 1 and look at Hunter so presh. It is funny with kids they get upset and find something so quick to entertain them LOL...wish we could do that! Hunter is so stinkin cute! What a great post um yeah that truck would have freaked me out too eeeeeeek....
xoxo
Sums
Those chubby rolls and smiles are entirely too adorable. Isn't it funny when you meet a child with the same name as your child's - it seems to not fit at all? Sage is a beautiful name and seems to fit your sweetie perfectly.
So glad you're getting away for a little r & r - hope it's perfectly refreshing. :)
ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL at the red truck! though that is something i would sooooooooooooooooooooo do too! a. think they are stalking me...or they are committing a crime! poor little old lady! haha
as for a diva..me too! i got enough on my plate to try my hand at that. glad my hubs loves the natural look! and my nails? why get polish on them only to watch it chip off 500 times the first day since my hands are in water so much! what a blessing that is...for it means i'm changing the dirty dipes of my babies! love me some mommyhood!!!
We have a ton of wind here in Central Valley CA :). You should bring your kite here.
have to say those pants were not my favorite. i don't understand why celebrities pick the most unattractive thing they can find to wear. weird. for instant lady gaga. is she just trying to be ugly...that skunk hair. so so weird. why??
have fun in the mountains. what a great little get away for you:)
Oh that view looks awesome! Hope you guys have a blast...and sage really is beautiful!
Love the link-up, thanks for hosting!
Love the pictures, you always post great ones and how big are the kids? I haven't been on here in a while, they grow so fast.
Hi and GOOD MONDAY MORNING! I love your Miscellany Monday link up...THANK YOU! Have a great week!
Oh man! I'm glad that first thing didn't happen to me. I would have freaked out too until I saw that it was some old lady!
I can't wait to buy a pair of those pants with some nice airy boot shoes. J-Lo makes them look so good. She is definitely a trend setter. This is my first Monday blog following. Glad to be here.
That is too funny about the lady in the truck! I would have pretty much freaked out. There is this {super odd} man thow lives in our neighborhood (who, for some reason, always tries to engage in conversation WITH MY MOM. I always try to convince myself that is a pyscho path murderer so that it adds some spice to the nighborhood and it feels as if we're on Criminal Minds. ;)
Wow - Sage is getting so big (Hunter is too!). You have some adorable kids, Carissa! ^_^
Carissa, you are so funny but I so understand your "scare" with the red truck. This day and age makes us that way. We trust no one!
So glad ya'll are getting away for a few days. Enjoy, enjoy!
I hated missing MM today but we did not get in early enough yesterday for me to have time to get a post ready. I've felt a part of my Monday was missing all day.
Hugs to you!
Oh that lake looks gorgeous. I'm sure you can't wait to be there.
My name used to be very unique...and then the whole world named their girls Emily. It was the #1 baby name for years. Kinda sad, so I understand your Sage encounter.
Newest follower! Love your blog! Please check out and follow back! http://confessionsbrunette.blogspot.com/2011/05/monday-blog-hops.html
Your babies are getting so big! I remember seeing Sage as a newborn! Time sure does fly...
I would be sneaky about story #1 also, you can never be too careful now days! Glad it was just a grandma waiting around.
My boys got kites for Easter and we still haven't flown them yet, it's not very windy this season, and when it is it is raining out!
I loved to see pictures of the children on your blog today. I grabbed two of my favorite ones. Hunter in the tree and Sage with her dimples.
I wish you were coming to the mountians in the pictures, then we would come and see you. Or just come to CA and we would take you to the mountains.
It has been very windy here. Hunter would have no problem flying his kite.
I read your miscellany every Monday even though I rarely comment and I wanted to let you know I love your writing and pictures and your children look darling! God Bless you and congrats on your upcoming R and R!
ooo mountains... how wonderful! that must be without children :) happy mm...
It is hard to fly a kite with no wind, but it is also hard to fly a kite when the wind is blowing 40 mph too:) We learned that the hard way last fall! Sage is such a cutie. Don't you hate when you find out that there is another kid with your kiddos name! There is another Grant that was in Kindergarten with my Grant this year and I hated it:)
Haha, the truck story was very funny. I find myself being paranoid too.
Love it--ALL! After living in the "armpit of SC" aka Columbia for 2 years, I can say that I love that I have to drive over a bridge through beautiful scenic waterways to get most anywhere in the lowcountry. But I too am in love with the mountains!!!
Random story: when I was pregnant with my 1st daughter I was on a walk/jog when a man in a truck pulled up a few houses down from where I was walking. He stopped, parked, got out of the truck...NAKED!! He walked to the back of his truck and I put my head down as he returned to the drivers seat. Then he drove away, amused I suppose with his exposure. Ugh!! I couldn't get home fast enough..I was so freaked out and afraid that he would follow me. Weirdest experience to date!!
