miscellany monday meets my new do.

write random and join in below.
Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one. a new view.
things are looking wonderfully different around here all thanks to my favorite gal, Hannah.  she created a new header for me and has an uncanny ability to figure out what i want before i know what i want.  if i was young all over again i'd want to be her.  instead, i'll just settle for the prayerful hope of Sage turning out half as accomplished as she is.  thank you again, Hannah, and just between you and me - i did end up baking the sea salted chocolate chip cookies.  shame.  but hey, if i'm going to run six miles/day, i'm going to eat cookies.  : )

two. moving out of the ice age.
for the first time in over five years we now have an internet bill to pay... which makes me mostly really happy.  let me say that it's entirely difficult to have a blog without the internet and i'm glad that phase of hermit-ness has come to an end.  but wait, it still gets better.  i officially have my own computer... for the first time in years.  i have a working computer at my house at my disposal any time i so choose.  all thanks to our bff's kindness.  i'm really thankful.

three. say cheese.
little miss pretty has turned into some kind of photogenic prima donna.  and i can say prima donna because if she sings like her dad does, she'll be well on her way.

four. t-shirts are for more than your torso.
never could a t-shirt look so pretty than repurposed into a head piece that is probably owed much more than my dirty hair.  thank you bff for making it for me to spice up my make-uplessness and my not-so-hairdo's.

five. i like...
to take pictures while toting my baby behind me in the comforts of an ergo. that's all.

six. blackberry cobblery.

i like cobbler.  especially in this berry season we're in.  unfortunately, this berry season is also swimsuit season.  and swimsuit season is not conducive to cobbler.  thus, i present to you, my 70 calorie shortbread biscuit.  to turn low-cal into cobbler-like.  not only will your waistline want to kiss me, your tastebuds will too.

blackberry cobblery
{by carissa.  adapted from cooks.com}
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. granulated sugar
4 tbsp. light butter, softened
1/2 c. skim milk
blackberries
whip cream

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Combine butter with dry ingredients thoroughly. Then stir in milk. Drop by spoonful onto non-stick baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes in a preheated 425 degree oven. Makes about 6-8 shortcakes, 70 calories each.  Top with blackberries and whip cream.

and i'll end on that happy-dessert-without-wrecking-your-diet note.

many blessings,
carissa

Your new design looks AWESOME! Go Hannah! I've been away, so I somehow missed your post about your husband's mom until now. God is so awesome, isn't He? That post gave me chills. :) Have a great week, girl!

Loooove the new header! I am super impressed. It's perfect for summer! And seriously, pictures of little miss couldn't be any cuter. I'm in love! Happy Monday to you, sweet girl!

Who is this Hannah? Nah, just kidding. I saw her working on your header and it was so fun to watch. She was thrilled {and I mean thrilled} to work on it. And, I must tell you, that I absolutely love it -- it captures you, my friend!

I'm agreeing with Summer on how old Hunter looks in the picture. Amazing. And super cute.

And your prima donna? Adorable. I know some excellent ballet instructors {one of which can also do graphic design} for her future.

When I come to Charleston I think I might have to try that blackberry cobbler. It looks super excellent fabulous amazingly good.

And the headband? Perfect.

Well, as usual I left almost an entire page full of comments for you. It's like how I leave messages on an answering machine. I tend to talk and talk and talk. Back when they had a certain amount of recording room {and no, this doesn't date me at all} I'd always joke that I was using up all the space. ;)

Anyways, have a wonderful Monday, my friend. And thank you for your kind words about Hannah. They will bless her.

Oh, Carissa, this post was such a breathe of freshness for me this morning. I love, love, love your new design, and yes, Hannah is such a remarkable young lady.

I will eventually get back with MM. I miss it terribly, but I am consumed with far more pressing issues at this time and will be using my blog as a means to update folks on my Dad's condition for now.

Happy, happy week to you and so excited for you and your own computer. My laptop has been a real source of diversion for me as I sit hours in the hospital. Hugs to you my dear!

Hi doll, love stopping by and seeing your gorgeous photos and beautiful family!
What photo editing platform do you use, and how to you watermark all of your photos? I have used photoshop, but it takes so long to do every photo I want to upload, and I didn't know if there was a faster way.
Again, love your blog, darlin!

thanks for sharing!

What a lovely new header!! Hannah did a wonderful job :) I laughed out loud at your comment about eating cookies/running - I justify just about everything that goes into my mouth with an "I run 5-6 miles a day...I can eat whatever I want" comment! Too bad I eat waaaay more than I run and will never be super skinny. It's a choice ;)

That headband is to die for! I want one, I want one! Too stinkin' cute!

Love, love, love the pics of Hunter and Sage - simply adorable, as always!

Blessings to you, sweet friend! xoxo
