miscellany 4th of july.

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

 one. happy fourth.

"free at last, free at last, thank God almighty we are free at last." -Martin Luther King, Jr

two. a new friend.
i did what all the cool bloggers do... meet blogging buddies in real life.  elena from bird and tree contacted me, said she recently moved to my area and would love to meet.  with one peek at her blog i instantly knew we'd click.  we met.  and then met again.  and will continue to meet.  gotta love that.  this explains it to the t:  "friendship is born perfectly at that moment when one person says to another: 'what! you too? i thought i was the only one.'" - CS Lewis.

elena inspires me to get bangs.  she rocks the bangs.

three. new heights.
i finally did something i've been wanting to do for, well, years.  ran this bridge (in the daylight, mind you):

i'm almost certain i enjoyed it much more than they did.  at least we made it.  but it wasn't without some whine.

four.  she's good.
at melting every last piece of my heart.

and this sage babe is also good at keeping up with the pudge.  she hasn't changed a bit since 5 weeks...

five. a picture of impatience.

if only he would learn that it is better to make the stickers last all week rather than wearing every single one  for only a day.  oh well, it's always fun while it lasts.

six.  i'm not making this up.
people, this is too good of a story for make-believe.  this really happened.  my brother, he's 21, and i love him.  he is genuinely one of the most giving people i have ever come across.  and he also says some funny, outlandish things.  he rode to church with us one sunday and asked if i'd consider getting a brother-sister tattoo with him.  sidenote: although i did have a nose ring, i'm so not the tattoo type.  he asked me to get a tattoo on my ankle, "it can be small," in his words with HIS name on it.  and some sort of sentiment about brothers and sisters.  i will now never doubt his brotherly love.  but when i told him ABSOLUTELY NOT! he was crushed.  shocked.  he thought for sure i'd go for it.  i think he's finally coming to terms with the rejection.  he then went on to ask my honey to get a bro-in-law tattoo... and you guessed it... same story... "it can be small, with my name on it."  : )  pick me up off the floor because i fell out of my chair laughing.

hope your 4th is full of freedom loving fun!
-carissa

I can see it now, your husband with a man's name tattooed on him. Won't be so hard to explain each and every time someone asks about it. haha

Way to go on running that bridge!! Even through a little bit of whine. :)

Sage is so adorable and I can't believe how big she has gotten. She was just born last month wasn't she? :o)

Thanks for your sweet words of encouragement concerning my sweet Daddy.

So much good stuff in this post!

It's fun to meet blog friends, isn't it?! I LOVE that Lewis quote, need to write it down...

I also love that Sage pic, oh my goodness, she's the sweetest chunkalish I've ever seen.

And your brother?

El Oh El. I think I'll use that line sometime "Something small, with my name on it..."

Of course no one will know what the heck I'm talking about, but I on the other hand, will laugh hysterically. ;)
