baby steps*

*disclaimer: i'm not a poet.  at all.  this is not a real poem.  because i'm not a poet.  i just like rhyming.  maybe too much.  and i'm not good at rhythm.  which is why this isn't a poem.  it's more like a rhymey prose type piece.

precious little daughter of mine
how can i stop the time?!

i want to bottle up your baby-ness
hug you, hold you, give a precious kiss

because this won't last long enough
the years, they pass and it'll be tough

so i'm going to cherish every warm snuggle
and enjoy each sweet cuddle.

this week, sweet daughter sage
you became a walking babe

and while you still have learning to do
it's fun to watch you waddle, as you discover the world anew...

so i guess this means my baby's growing
the days, no, they are not slowing

I think you're a beautiful poet. This post made me just a bit teary -- those days when those sweet babes of ours begin to walk are so tender. And bittersweet. And full of momma proudness.

Sage is so cute. I can still remember that cute face of hers nestling in your shoulder when I tried to say "hi " to her. And, lol, at that point I knew I better not try to hold her. :)

Love ya sweet friend. Have a wonderful Friday -- and thank you again for linking up with me.

Grateful for you.

Rachel

I found you through Adriel.
They. Grow. Too. Fast.
I have a 3 year old and a 5 month old, it's inconceivable how big they are. My baby is still a baby, but not, and my 3 year old is speaking "adult".
It just shouldn't be ;)

Btw, your mom is gorgeous. I remember when I was 18 everyone thought I was 14-15, but I was aware enough back then to know my friends all thought my mom was in her 30's when she was in her 40's.

PamJ said...

aw wow, i guess they all grow up hey? and waaaaay too fast!
congrats to lil sage on her new milestone.
& btw - you are totally a poet in my books. that was well put together :)
