does this mean it's over?

it was an unplanned day, meaning we didn't have any plans.  and considering the only wheels we have while daddy's away at work are the four ones dangling off the double stroller, it's sort of confining, you know.  on a usual day's docket, it's either a pool day, a park day, a feed the turtles in the pond down the street day, be pushed in the jogger by mommy for miles day, or a house day.  frequently it's an all five of those kind of day.

excuse the blur... had to get this before i missed it.
well lo and behold, i wanted some variety.  we all need some some spice in our lives.  that's why i have a sage.  : )  she keeps me on my long, monkey-like toes all the time.  it was 10 am and the kids were still in their jammies.  you know it's time to get on with it, when your littlest child wobbles over to you holding her day's attire up in the air with the look of "mommy let's get on with this day, what's your problem?" kind of look.  so we did.  i dressed them and off we went.  to the wild frontier of our backyard.

we have real live alligators next door, a.k.a. pitbulls that might eat us if we let them and since we don't have a fence, things can get scary in a skinny minute.  we graced the barking with bubbles.  the whole experience is especially embellished when cute kiddos that really just can't quite get the hang of the bubble blowing thing, try with all their might anyway, just to see some circular soap decorate the sky.  it's totally worth the scary dogs part.  mostly.

it was fun while it lasted.  until the favorite bubble toy of all, the years-old, hand-me-down, fish-like ferry bubble blowing machine died.  it's like summer itself locked us out of the house and said you can't come in any longer.  does this mean it's over?  this summer thing?  as long as cooler temperatures are in order, we're game.  and as long as we grab some batteries, the bubbles will be a fall sport, too.  cause i'm versatile like that.

happy late, late, almost over summer and yay for soon approaching fall time that harvests cool breezes, falling leaves, and pumpkin flavors.

I'm chanting "bring on Fall" too!!

I TOTALLY admire you for finding things to do and ways to get around not having a car. There are some days when all I want is to get out of the house and go somewhere- anywhere! But we don't have anything to do within walking distance...

Not sure I could hang in the backyard with pitbulls right there. Yikes, you are brave! They terrify me.

bubbles are so fun with little kids {and big kids like myself!} what sweet pictures...they are getting so big! we have started school here this week, and that's the official sign that our summer is over :-( but I love love fall, so it's usually okay! bring on the pumpkins and crisp leaves and cool temps, my favorite time of year! have a great weekend!

Bubbles and side walk chalk make our world go 'round! I'm so ready for Fall. And even though the summer has gone by fast (as well as this week, hello, it's friday already!) I don't feel like I've wished it away. We've endured the driest, hottest summer since the 1800 (and let's face it, I wasn't around then so it is THE hottest summer, evar) and by golly I'm ready for some nip in the air. And I wanna open my windows to let the fresh cold breeze in, too. *sigh*

Those bubble pictures are so much fun! I remember the days of staying in pj's for half the day...that will be over as soon as your first one heads to preschool:) Now we are all up and dress before 7 each morning!

Looks like a beautiful day if you ask me...even with the "alligators" next door. Love these photos.

Ooh...pumpkin flavors. Isn't it nice to shake it up a bit? Love the pic of Sage bringing you her clothes. Sometimes it's the kids who get us motivated. Enjoy those bubbles :)

It's so sweet to see you making the most of these summer days - bubbles are such a cheap, simple, perfect way to enjoy them.

But with all these days in the 100s, I've never been more ready for autumn :)

cute cute! i love watching little kiddos play with bubbles. they are so intrigued and it is so precious. and yes please, bring on the fall. unfortunately, in texas, i'm afraid we have a few more months of summer. i know...disheartening. it's alright though, i just embrace it :) happy friday!

ditto on that last line; i think i'm over my hating August phase now...but that's only because I remember just HOW MUCH i LOVE <3 fall... :)

i cannot WAIT for pumpkin spice lattes, scarves, & crisp, cool air! bring on the fall!

Precious moments as summer draws to a close. I admire you for being car-less. I can only imagine how trapped I would feel. Some days I just put the little ones in the car and drive around because I felt stir crazy. Your commitment to your children, husband's calling and the Kingdom are worth much more than an afternoon drive. :)

I love summer, but am so looking forward to fall, too! Pumpkin spice lattes... yay.

love that sage wandered over to you with clothes in hand and that look on her face. hilarious!

bubble machines are the best. i was up north with family a couple months ago and my cousin's kids had a couple. they enjoyed them so much!

Love your whole description of everything. Especially your monkey like toes...makes me think...hhmmm how long are her toes?! ;)

Way to brave the outdoors w/those 'gators' so close to you. All in the name of bubble love..I can completely understand. :)

There were three things I always loved to bring out when the kids and I grew bored at home and just needed something fun to do:
1. bubbles

2. a box of crayons with which to color. You know, a box of 64! Not a measly 8 or 16 count.;)

3. Play Doh.

My mom hated messy things and yes, she even considered bubbles to be messy. They left spots on the windows if you blew them too close to the house, and we didn't have much of a yard. ;) She didn't mind crayons so much, but Play Doh was a rare treat. So, as a mom, what did I do? I ran out and bought the giant, economy size jug of bubbles, the biggest box of crayons I could find, and the value pack of Play Doh. On a rainy day, a vinyl tablecloth from the clearance section makes a great play mat in the middle of the family room floor or even on the front porch. Then we'd drag out THE FUN STUFF! :)

Keep making those wonderful memories, Carissa. Your kids will treasure them always. :)

so fun running into you at target today- both without the kiddos. Maybe next time we should go have icecream or something instead and leave the babes with the dads! hehe! I'm totally holding onto summer, but I am super excited about the fall and it not being so hot! :)

not liking that you have pit bulls next door. we had one growing up and my dad finally had to get rid of it. they are unpredictable and have jaws of steel. when they latch on they DON'T let go. i know you are doing this already, but watch those babes like a hawk!!!

your pictures are absolutely perfect. love the overhead shot of sage on the blanket. happy weekend girlie.

I love it when days play out the way yours did. Bubbles and time in they yard are such fun on cool days in the Upstate.

I love bubbles (but I dislike summer) HA!

I couldn't live in a house where there "real live alligators" as neighboors. I PANIC when I see a dog, no matter what size it is : (

Oh, how precious! I love blowing bubbles with my Grans and it's especially fun when they try to blow. A fun summer pasttime for sure.

Pit Bulls, well, that is scary for sure! I don't think folks should be allowed to own them. :o)

You have brightened what has been a very heavy day for me. Blessings to you my dear and thanks for that sweet note via "snail mail." You are loved!

That hysterical that she brought you her clothes for the day.

Blowing bubbles was my favorite thing! Heck... it still is!

You ARE so funny! I was totally reading this sitting on the edge of my chair. hee hee hee. :)

Those bubble blowers are the best. Until they break. Or they go through a pack of batteries. We've got this spinning one -- it's awesome for the 3.492 minutes until the bubble juice (that's what we call it) runs out.

Thanks for linking up my sweet and awesome friend!
