miscellany monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. from the flurry of a hurricane, to the sadness of a funeral, to a joyous baby shower, to a celebratory church anniversary we pretty much ran the gamut this weekend. which is why i had to laugh, after looking in the mirror for the first time all day {after getting home}, realizing that my hair was an absolute atrocity ~

and the terrible-ness of the picture goes right along with the wretchedness of my botched hair-do, but made for a good laugh. it's really fun to laugh at yourself.  if you haven't, you should try it sometime.  i've told my honey that he's got to help me with things like this... he was looking at me all day long and didn't once notice?  maybe that's why i love him.

2. thankfully, we got nothing more than barely tropical storm conditions from Irene and enjoyed a killer sunset as we waved her on by ~

in a matter of sheer minutes the sky went from fire-like hues to tones of blues...

in the midst of a storm, there's still beauty to be found.

3. oh yeah, in the middle of our busy bee lives, my man is applying to seminary.  i'm really happy for him.  here's the application picture...  i told kelly that as long as a lady is reviewing his paperwork, this will get him right in. : )

4. do you know what could be possibly better than a mason jar?  a ball mason jar from 1908 with a handle.  yes please.  now on to the search for a blue one.

5. our house key.  you never really think about it until you get home and realize it's not with you, you are locked out and the kids are screaming because they're afraid they'll never see their toys again.  fun times.

6. winter preview:

7. a baby girl shower for this girl, involved chalkboards, mason jars {obviously}, vintage frames, roses, daisies, gifts, lanterns, a diaper cake, lollipops, strawberry cupcakes, pumpkin butter atop goat cheese {to die for}, and more girlie goodness... here's a sneak peak ~

and there's more where that came from at a later date!

ps. you've just witnessed my three.six.five project in disguise.  ; )

Great pictures, my sweet friend! You look fabulous-o in that messy hair pic. Trying to pull it off by looking stressed -- nah -- you look great with that extra volume added into the back. <>

{I am sorry about Kelly's grandpa though.}

And those sunset pictures? Amazing. Unbelievable. Beautiful.

Very excited about your new venture! Did you know that Amy's husband is in seminary right now? I'm sure you did, but I thought I'd just remind you. :) I am super excited for your family.

Love the baby shower pictures. Absolutely gorgeous.

Enjoy your sweet family today.

love ya

wow -- gorgeous sunset pictures of the storm!

I have locked myself out of the house after a run and the husband was out working...yeah that was annoying lol. at least I only had a hot dog to worry about and not a car full of kiddos!

Patrice said...

I get locked out regularly, what a drag! Good luck to your husband and your family on this next venture!

Understand the hair...happens all the time to me after a busy day. I love ball jam jars...flowers look so perfect inside them!

And I love the birthday photo...cannot wait to see what else you have from it! Your little boy's eyes are such a beautiful green! I didn't realize they were green from the other photos I've seen on your site! :) Beautiful family you have.

It sounds like you had a wild week/weekend! I don't know why men don't notice when our hair is crazy, but it IS sweet in an embarrassing sort of way :).

That photo is definitely auto-admittance-to-seminary worthy :).

Your ability to capture beauty in difficult times is amazing to me. Those two photos of the hurricane are breathtaking.

PS. I'm really starting to LOVE mason jars as decor. So sweet!

Congrats on your hubby! What an amazing new adventure you will all be on!
Great pictures of the sunset....wow!

WHAT?! You are cute not matter what! Those sky picture are absolutely stunning...God is so big and amazing. Yeah for Kelly :) I love me a cool mason jar. I would love to be able to find a few blue ones myself.

Ha! My kids had the same reaction the firs time I locked us out of the house (is it sad that I've done it more that once? Ha!) It didn't help that I did it at night and had to go around to the back of the house in the dark to check the back door.

Sounds like you had a roller coaster kind of weekend. Hope you get some time to rest today.

Jessica said...

So glad my kids aren't the only ones! Noah wears his hat around the house and Kayla dressed up in her snow pants, furry coat, and hat the other day! Good luck to your hubby!

Don't you love it when you go without a mirror the whole day though...there's something so FREEING about it ;) Hehe!

Natalie said...

My husband never tells me when I walk around like a goof all day either. as soon as I hit the mirror on a day like that I always ask him why he didn't tell me and he always says he didn't notice. I guess you've got to love them for that :)

Anna said...

My hubby does the same thing, I guess they see something else beyond our messy hair :)
Glad you didn't have terrible weather! That shower looks adorable!

Masto Mama said...

LOVE that the hurricane passed right by you--you were one of the first people I thought of when I saw the first news report about it!

and I LOVE the beanie on your boy--so adorable and quite handsome, I must say : )

And don't you love that about husbands? My husband thinks I look the best when I think I look horrible....they are funny like that. I guess that's why they say love is blind! : )

Where did you find the mason jar with the handle??? I LOVE LOVE LOVE it....please do share. : )

Hugs!

Sunsets are amazing!! Absolutely love them.

The winter preview is adorable. I think he pulls his beanie off with flying colors!

How great your hubby is applying for seminary! I hope he gets in..and I too have to remind G-man to point out said atrocities since he doesn't either (including food in the teeth) I'm not sure why, but I like your perspective on it. ;)

I love the jar! Those photos of the sky are wonderful - along the "heavens declaring Your Magesty" line. :) I would have told you about that "topsy tail" even if I didn't know you - gently. I'm just like that. ;)

Don't you love when you've been running around all day and then when you finally come home and catch yourself in the mirror- you are a mess. I do this more often than I'd like to admit. That mason jar is a beauty- good find.

Seminary, that is wonderful and I wish him all the best in this new endeavor and you are right, if I were reviewing his application, he would get a great big check mark of YES!
