1. today is international talk like a pirate day and it also happens to be my matey's 30th birthday. our lil' scallywag is going to be even more enamored when he realizes his dad shares a special day with pirates. since my honey is (way) older than i am, it's a good thing he has me to keep him young. : ) all i know is that this man o' mine looks mighty good holding our babies and i pray for many many many more birthday celebrations together. he reads me like a book, points me to Jesus and leads me out of servanthood. this is our eighth birthday together and it only gets better with age - this love thing.
2. shiver me timbers. it was cold in the south this weekend. we wore jackets to the beach and had plenty of chill bumps as the wind almost blew us to pieces. we're really feeling fall in september. this is new to our southern skin.
3. oh me! we were in for a sweet little musical treat... we just so happened to be at an outfitter store on friday afternoon and found out that mat kearney was playing a few songs there (for free!). i was starstruck... it felt like a personal concert. there were maybe 40 people listening. i now have a new obsession with the mat kearney station on pandora. i always get super attached when i hear people play in real life. there's something about singing like we're free and watching the world around fly by us that's pretty music to my ears.

Int'l Talk LIke a Pirate Day! I didn't know this was an actual thing! This cracks me up because here at Wycliffe's center these really serious graduate-future-Bible-translators are planning to go around talking like pirates all day today - and linguistic students really take stuff like this to the extreme!! :) (I thought they'd just made it up - I didn't know it was a real thing!)

Cold? Yes, it has been. Crazy. Last week at soccer it was 90 degrees and then this week it was mid 40s with a very strong and VERY COLD wind. Miserable. What happened to the 60s?

Happy birthday to your hubby! I can't believe you stumbled upon a Matt Kearney mini- concert. I would have lost it, in a good way. It's still super hot down here in the south south, we probably won't be able to pull the long sleeves out until November.
As soon as I read international talk like a pirate day, I started singing the talk like a pirate song from Jake and the Never Land Pirates. I'm sure I'll be singing it all day.
I think you're right about love only getting better with age. It's like a fine wine.
I just realized you're from Charleston. We lived there for six years before moving up North. I miss being in an artsy town.

Will have to check out Matt Kearney. Pandora is pretty much always on in our house (like right now). This cool southern weather is such a treat! Am hoping by some miracle it'll stay this way...isn't it funny how "cool" in the south is weather in the mid-high 70's?

I saw Mat Kearney in 2006 in a small venue and I've been attached to his music ever since...how awesome that you got to see him in such a close setting!

Your little ones (and you) are cute as always...I love the beach pictures. Rachel thought it was strange that we were at the beach this past Friday and that it was warm because she said it's freezing where she is already. It's a little cold here but definitely not freezing yet. California takes awhile to kick in...though I did find pumpkin ice cream at Trader joes and little pumpkins for them to paint while a cool breeze blew--it's getting there, here, slowly but surely : ) Fall is my favorite time of the year!
it was COLD here in Eastern NC this weekend...and now we're going to be in the 80's all the rest of the week. ::sigh:: NC weather for ya ;)
