happy miscellany monday (and halloween).

write random and join in below.

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. i took over 300 pictures this weekend.  all in one day.  can't wait to throw them at your face.  : )

2. i am in an exceptionally good mood today.  my money maker (aka my husband) has the entire week off!  this has not happened in a year.  it. is. time!  we are going nowhere but here and will enjoy every minute of the sweet rest.

3. is it weird that i wear purple eye-liner? i mean, on most days i don't wear make-up, but when i do, it's purple eye-liner.  supposedly it brings out my amber brown eyes.  someone told me that and i believed them.

4. am i old because i wear dansko shoes everyday in the fall/winter?

5. i do switch up the physician looking style of the danskos with the nurse looking style of crocs every so often.  it keeps me young.  maybe.

6. can you say TOMS?  it's time.  i hope.  i have them on my wishlist.  along with a pair of skinny jeans.  i tried on well over 20 pairs this weekend, jeans that is.  unless you're under 100 lbs or 6 feet tall, i think skinny jeans just don't work.  am i missing a mom version somewhere?! where should i look?  i want to be cool again. ; )

7. or maybe this makes me old: function wins over fashion.  there, i said it.  i never thought the day would come.  i guess the mom in me is winning. i went into forever 21 a week ago and my head started spinning with a "is this what they're wearing nowadays?!" speaking of which, give me some style advice.  i try to make my wardrobe multi-seasonal.  does this work below... the long-sleeve underneath the sun-dress?  be honest.  don't let me look like a girl from the olden days if it does look old-fashioned.

8. sometimes i get my pouty daughter to stop crying by giving her chocolate or jewelry. don't judge.

9. oh, do i have a surprise for you tomorrow.  don't miss out.  be back here at 7 am sharp.  SHARP!!!

love, carissa

That picture of your daughter is gorgeous. Whatever you're doing seems to be working, so there's no way I'll judge! Besides, a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do.

Amy said...

I want to try Danskos, but I just can't get past the price!
I think the sundress would be better with a cardigan over it...but I'm not exactly a fashionista. :)

girl! you are not too old for skinny jeans! you're a young hip mommy is what you are. i'm sure you've tried target...how about old navy? i know this store is a young teen store but this really old mom tried on a pair at Delia's and my teen girls actually gave the thumbs up to them. I also know the ones at banana republic fit really nice but i couldnt justify paying the price tag for them. i do hope you find a pair and you will definitely be rockin' it once you pair your skinny jeans with TOMS!

have a loveLee monday friend!

I have tried to find skinny jeans as well...no luck! I do love the matchstick jeans from J Crew though!

Liz said...

I agree Jcrew does have some good ones...(find an outlet! plus ask them for a coupon they are always hoarding some, plus they give a student/teacher discount) They just do not work with my body type? I think I'm too curvy? or self conscious? I want to those toms how sweet are they? Burlap? yes please! I stop pouting when I get chocolate, just know that'll probably never change. :) Have a great week!

Lindsey said...

I won't judge. I give chocolate and matchbox cars to my grumpy son :)

Alicia said...

i want toms too!! good idea for the christmas list. and you are so not a grandma. geesh, girl! :)

Lea also known as "CiCi" said...

How funny! I wandered in Forever 21 while we were in Vegas a few weeks ago and I knew immediately that it was NOT the store for this CiCi.

If ever there was a candidate for skinny jeans, it would be YOU! They are NOT for this CiCi either but there was a day that I did wear them. :o)

Enjoy, enjoy this week with your precious family. Make a lot of memories, someday you'll sit around treasuring them. Hugs to you dear!

that and jeggings...sorry but they look better on little bitty babes...or my 10 yr old...

I want some Toms like that!! I have heard purple eyeliner brings out brownish eyes...I haven't tried it yet but will soon :) Enjoy your whole week with your hubby!

Bree Holloway said...

I wear skinny jeans, but then again, I'm no mom yet! :)
I think the dress looks cute! It would also look cute if you wore that yellow and grey ruffle-necked dress over it. :)

Love,

Katie said...

I can't do the skinny jean thing. They make me look so awkward! But I'm sure you could pull them off much better than I!

Enjoy the week with your husband! Those weeks are so good for the heart :)

LeAnna said...

I like skinny jeans! I think the key is the top you wear with it. TOM's are on my wishlist, too! My Hubby's cousin is the main rep for a large portion of the US and can you believe he's yet to give me a pair?!? ;) Enjoy your week off with the Hubby, that sounds marvelous. I'll be here bright and early in the mornin', too....Happy week to you, friend!

Beth Priest said...

I kinda have toms on my wishlist too ; ) but they go on and off of it...I can't make up my mind ; ). No way on the shirt under that dress ; ) Cardigan and scarf maybe some tights and boots...(this is where your lack of accessory buying is going to really do you you in). I found THE perfect skinny jean once...STUPIID me didn't buy them and now they are not to be found and I can't find another...it's really the biggest bummer ; )

Gwen Toliver said...

Skinny jeans? Totally agree with you on that. And chocolate and jewelry tend to be effective for ladies of all ages. :) Have a great Monday (and I think whatever shoes you want!)

Nessa said...

I have a pair from Old Navy... and they are okay - but I only wear them with big tops. I think finding good jeans - any kind is my biggest nightmare. Jewelry and chocolate - how adorable!

golly! 300 photos!! Can't wait to see what you caught on film! :)
I love those Toms + I really like the long sleeve under the dress look! Pretty + it will keep you warm!
HAppy HAlloween!!! xo

Kelli @ RTSM said...

I think those crocs are really cute...and I LOVE the Toms! I bought some off brand Tom look alikes a few weeks ago and I love them! I actually bought two pair {one in a pretty turquoise color} because they were only $15!

Cheryl said...

hahaha. i may or may not wear blue eye liner sometimes because someone told me it highlighted my blue eyes.
and my post this week isn't really random, it's about Halloween. hope you don't mind. ;)

Brittany said...

Jewelry and chocolate will make me stop pouting too so I think it's ok ;).

The sundress/long sleeve shirt works in colder areas. I did it a lot in Washington and Northern Nevada and no one seemed to judge me. haha I also tried cardigans over the dress with thick tights underneath. I have too many dresses to not be able to wear them.

When I'm with my boyfriend's baby I am all about function over fashion. Otherwise she tries to pull on or eat whatever sparkly things I'm wearing - or pukes on my white clothes. ha.

PS. When I use the code from my google reader (not the one in the box on the actual mm post), the icon works. No idea what the difference is, but just wanted to update you :). haha

Beautiful pictures! Your daughter is beautiful. My daughter loves Tom shoes too, that is all she wears. She now has a wrap around red pair of boots that are so cool. Love your blog and being from South Carolina I do love Charleston...have family there.

Function over fashion for me, too, unfortunately. Ideally both, but if I have to pick, comfort is gonna win!

Skip the TOMS. read this or look for any other article. We had tried to attend the event he spoke at...but it didn't work out and now I'm glad. http://www.bilerico.com/2011/07/toms_shoes_founder_expresses_regret_says_focus_on.php

I wear Danskos too! I've got black and a leopard patent leather.

For fashion tips, you'll want to look at the Bon Bon Rose Girls. http://www.bonbonrosegirls.com/

I'd wear a Long sleeved T under a tank, but what do I know...I live in Southern CA.

I hear you on the "is this what they're wearing nowadays!" and honestly, I'm not really a fan of skinny jeans on any body type...ooops I said it :)

Taylor said...

Don't worry, I wear purple eyeliner too :)

I completely agree with you about the skinny jeans look! I'm never gonna be 6 foot or 100 lbs and that's okay. Even if I was, skinny jeans don't look good on girls with curves! BUT please give me a dose of cool...just a sip! I swore off mom jeans when 'mom' was, but a possibility down the road a long.....looong way!

Have a wonderful week with your 'honey!'

SO awful was the day when I couldn't find anything in the junior section, but made my way over to the misses section and found everything I needed. It happens to all of us, friend!

Grace said...

I love skinny jeans...but it took me a LONG time to find the right pair. However, jeans with a flair are definitely more flattering, I think.

haha, don't let the mommy take over...nooooo. ;) Function over fashion, you're so funny. I run away from crocs, run far far away. I hear they're great and comfy and the best thing since sliced bread, but I can't seem to do it. G-man swears by them and forces me to try them on cause he knows I LOVE THEM! like he does, but I don't. I hate them. But the clunky kind. *I digress

Wanna put the sundress w/sleeves on and take a picture?? I'm horrible at the visual unless I see a picture of you in it. Unless others tell you it looks great, then don't wait for my opinion. haha I'm not the best for fashion.

can't wait to have the 300 pictures thrown at my face. ;)

I'm with ya on skinny jeans. I'm tall but not 100 lbs. and I still don't think they work. Love love love my Toms!

Kelley said...

I too took tons of pictures this weekend! Used up all of my card in fact.
I also have TOMS on the wish list. I think they are a necessity for moms. Comfy yet cute.
I will make sure I'm over here at 7am sharp ;)

Go to White House Black Market for skinny jeans. Get the Skinny Leg in Noir. They fit big, so I am a 12 and got a Medium. And they are on sale right now.

I LOVE Dansko shoes! i also love those Tom's shoes and completely agree with you on the skinny jeans!

I love my danskos in the winter time.

I have also not found a pair of skinny jeans that work and I want oh so bad to be cool too! :) Oh well!!

Beth said...

I love "all" of the shoes. #8 is so breath-taking of your daughter. And as far as the chocolate and jewelry is concerned, you're just sharing one of the best female soothers of all time! That means you're a smart mom! ;)

love this post! ENJOY the week with your hubby---what a blessing! I love making a sundress go into fall/winter. I think that outfit definitely works...and take it into winter with a sweater, leggings, and boots! I'm all about my crocs--well knock-offs! And skinny jeans...not on these curvy legs! :) can't wait to see what your announcement is!

haven't commented in a while, but this is a must.
a) skinny jeans, you got it. Do you have a charlotte russe there? don't judge..it's real teeny bopper... but their skinny jeans... are NOT. they are awesome. trust me. I get comments on them a lot, and i am not 100 pounds.. or even close to it, and i have a 2 year old.

b) I would wear a cardigan over the sundress and tie a skinny belt around it. it will look so cute.

c) your daughter is precious :)

Seni said...

Buy the Toms soon! You won't regret it. I want to wear mine everyday. They are so comfy too!

Am I late about the new blog design??? I love it!!! 300 pictures...sweet. I need to pull the camera out more. How much fun are you all going to have with your hubby home...staycations are the best :) Um, you're not old and those crocs are cute.

I just started wearing skinny jeans this fall and now there is NO going back (at least not until the style changes again!). I LOVE them. I have one pair from Gap Outlet and one pair from Old Navy. I actually like the Old Navy ones better. Bite the bullet! You'll love them after you get use to them!!!

Your daughter is adorable!! Loving the new look to your blog. So classy! Like you!! :)

I love this idea of miscellany Monday, and purple eyeliner? Who wouldn't love that! I like green myself, but my daughter has worn just about very color in the rainbow. I linked up, but can't seem to get your button to work on my page! Love your blog though.

Carissa said...

Those shoes look comfy.
I have no idea about the dress... I have almost no fashion sense...

BARBIE said...

My girlfriends just blessed me with two pairs of TOMS as a belated birthday gift! They are so comfortable. I've wanted TOMS for a long time. Sage keeps getting cuter!

Becky M said...

I totally felt the same way about skinny jeans - I had even tried on pairs that wouldn't go past my calves! Then I tried the Levi's style at Kohls and Holy Cow, I've never felt so good in a pair of jeans. I wear them constantly!

Rebekah said...

I'm sure someone has mentioned this by now since I'm a few weeks behind in blog reading, but did you know Tom's is coming out with a ballet flat for Spring!!! I'm holding off on my next shoe purchase till then because that... is.... awesome! If you google it you can find a pic.

I wear purple eyeliner too! It goes great with hazel eyes! :)

Rebekah said...

Oh, forgot to mention! The other way to make the dresses multi-seasonal! :) Throw some leggings under with some cute ballet flats or boots. I live by this here where the weather is similar to there -i.e. chilly in morning but hot by afternoon!
