my sixth grade sister

(possibly where Sage get's her sassy side?!)

when i was ten i wondered what it would be like to call someone sister.  someone to share my secrets with, someone to dress up with, someone to laugh and giggle with, someone to pester my brother with.

and then, lo and behold, my mom got pregnant and had me a sister. i was fifteen; instead of playing dress up with her, i dressed her.  instead of laughing and giggling, i soothed her colic-full tears and wiped up her spit-up.

that little sister is growing up, although i don't think it's possible for a little sister to remove the little part of her title.  she borrows my clothes (please notice she raided my wardrobe for these pictures  - everything she's wearing is mine!) and begs for my shoes.  she even wrote me a poem entitled, my sister is my hero.  swoon. she's my absolute favorite sister, even if she's the only one.

my mom told me she didn't want to pay for school pictures (who does, anyway?!) and i took that as my cue to say, "of course i'll take her pictures!"  next up is my little brother.  he's in seventh grade so i'll have to pull out my cool cards.

linking with my beauty of a friend, rach.

So cool Carissa. I would love to have a sister. She looks just like you. She is my Big Chick's age. Isn't that weird! They could be friends.

She is beautiful, my friend!

I love how our paths have similar stories -- I have that sister of mine that was born when I was 13 -- love her so much. And ha ha ha -- I still call her "little sister".

I'm still praying about the 2:1 and you...:)

Love ya!

she is so beautiful!!! What a blessing! I have a little brother and adore him but I do wonder how great it would have been to also have a little sister. Instead I AM the little sister to my older sister! haha

Such gorgeous photos, and such a beautiful girl. I definitely can see that you two look similar.

I have a little sister as well, and even though she just turned 20 I feel like she is forever about 10 years old in my mind. Maybe 12, tops. :)

She reminds me so much of my niece. The freckles and all. So cute.

I've always wanted a little sister...but I'M the little sister. Though at times I call my big sis, little since I'm taller..so I guess, in theory, I did get a little sister... ok, that made little sense.
ha! pun not intended. I'm so funny, even without the effort!

Awe, it's so much fun having a little sister or brother. I have a "little" brother, 13 years younger than me and he's so, so special to me and we are so, so close so I understand exactly what you are saying. She is just adorable and I can certainly see why she calls you her hero. Blessings for a beautiful weekend!

you must be kidding - my little (and only) sister is 15 years younger than me as well. In 4th grade.
Can we possibly have any more in common!?

What a beautiful post, Carissa, and so encouraging to me!! Although we don't have a big gap between our kids, it will be 14 years between #1 and #8 so I love to hear how you have this beautiful relationship with your younger siblings. What a blessing!!

Carissa, your sister is beautiful and I love the pictures of her. I have "two sets" of children. My first two, a girl and boy, are 20 and 17. Then I went six years without a child and lo and behold had baby #4 (a girl, now 11) and then 3 years later, another boy, who is now 8! So there is just a six year gap between my sets, but a 9 year gap between my 1st and 3rd. Makes my head spin just writing it all down!

Aww, she's beautiful- looks a lot like you! I have a little brother that is 14 years younger than me. You just brought back a lot of memories of feeding and changing diapers back then- I hated it!! ;)

Your sister is beautiful! How fun! I love having children many years apart. I feel like it builds the nurturing instinct in the older ones early. :) Jared and Harrison are 17 years apart. Besides that - I think my children all love having each other. :)

Beautiful pictures!

No wait - I KNOW my children all love having each other! :) ha!
