miscellany monday

 write random and link-up below!

1. i ordered my free shutterfly christmas cards only to realize as they arrived that i omitted some crucial information.  our last name.  #whodoesthat?  me.  two years in a row.

2. my heart is full to the brim and feels like it may explode with gratitude.  i've been reminded of His love and care for me.  God has showed up in my mailbox, in an envelope, on a handwritten card, on my doorstep, at my honey's work, at a park, in little reminders of a still small voice saying i care for you, i love you more than you know, i don't want you to only learn how to deal, i want you to thrive and blossom and embrace this life i have called you to live.  so i am.  simple as that.  and it feels as good as wearing your favorite pair of jeans.  it just fits.

3. a sweetheart sent my little sweetheart some hand-made leg warmers and hair clips.  when you want to brighten a gal's day, send her pretties.  it always works.

please notice the big cream flower.  that one is for me.  hello oooh-la-la!

4. i am not sure what is happening here.  notice her leg warmers are scrunched like old school '80's style.  maybe she's on the cutting edge?  will we all be wearing scrunchy leg warmers next winter?  please say yes.

5. presenting....  da da dum... our first pinterest project outside of recipes.  i'm all for low-key and fine motor skills; put both together and you've got toothpick cheerio stacks.  he even made a snack out of the deal and called a two for one.

6. grab your keys, get in the car, and head to wherever a chinese persimmon is sold and eat it as soon as possible.  it's not a tomato, though it looks like one.  you'll peel it's skin and eat the inside peach-like texture all while wondering where the heck it's been all your life.

7.  if you think you're really busy, imagine having twins that just turned one and having a newborn.  that's busy.  that's our friends.  i made chicken and wild rice soup for dinner, took it to them and was reminded that some really good memories are made in the craziness of raising children and toddlers and newborns.  #cheerstothecrazyblessingofparenthood.  (did anyone actually read that hashtag?!  should i just breakdown and use twitter, instead of being a wannabe?!)

alright girls, you know what to do!  grab the button, write random and join in.

I always obsess over my Christmas Shutterfly orders. We do cards and calendars and I'm always worried I messed something up. I love baby/toddler leg warmers. We've been wearing them over white tights when we need a little extra color.

You always make me laugh Carissa...you are pure sweetness. Love the leg warmers, the last name left off your card=priceless, and I've never even heard of a chinese persimmon, but it looks delish.:)

LOVE the leg warmers! Adorable on her little legs. I am doing a christmas card link up next Monday if you want to show off your card -even though there is no last name!

Oh, I could just squeeze that Sage, legwarmers and all. And, add one of those hair bows and she's even more precious! I may have to get the Princess some leg warmers. :o)

Yes, tis the season for gratitude and we're all guilty of lacking in it, thanks for the reminder.

May it be an extra special week for you and your sweet family! Hugs!

Yea, about Christmas cards, so I did a combination Christmas card/adoption announcement this year. Guess who MISSPELLED her new son's name on the part anouncing his arrival into our family?! #thisgirldid

And on hashtags and Twitter. I am so confused by Twitter. Also, social media already takes over so much of my life that I can't justify another outlet.

Ok, those leg warmers definitely rule the roost on those little legs. Glad you are enjoying all of the Christmas Spirit and "God kisses" coming your way- I will be linking up late today, but link up I shall, as Miscellany Monday's with you is my fave blog day! Have a wonderful week!

Absolutely adorable post. Love the leg warmers -- I'm going to see if I can get my girls to wear there's like that. Ha!

As far as twitter -- my vote is for yes. #youmightreallylikeitandyoucanchatwithmeinthemorning

How is that for a hashtag? I think, sigh, I might just like it because I love the hashtag element. :)

Now, you listen, you have a wonderful day. You are blessed.

Such sweet little leg warmers! I need to get some of those for our Little Bug. Too precious!

I haven't jumped on the Twitter bandwagon yet either. It kind of terrifies me!

Annie said...

yes, you should join twitter! :]

i feel like when i start ordering christmas cards, i will also forget something as simple as my last name, so don't worry too much about it.

also: why is Sage so cute?! & i think i'm gonna have to get some fashion tips from her; she dresses cuter than me. ;]

I'm sooo paranoid about typos in my cards and photobooks and stuff. I mean, it's not like they're cheap. I worked for an hour or more on a photo calendar, proof reading it and scrutinizing everything and STILL ended up with a typo. AHHHHH!

Love your pretty cream flower, you'll rock it.

Sage's little sweater dress is so cute, I want one!!!

We've done the cheerio thing before, Q loves it. I let him string them onto pipe cleaners and then we make a bracelet out of it. He has fun eating them off the bracelet. Kind of like those candy necklaces we used to get as kids. ;)

Have a great week!

Catrina said...

love the hair treats! and sage is just the cutest thing ever. i love when my heart is exploding from gratitude (then again, who doesn't?), so glad you're feeling that way!

Chelsea said...

Hopefully if someone is getting a Christmas card from you, they know your last name! It'll be ok :)

Cute leg warmers- even worn scrunchy style! It may be the model though. I'm pretty sure she could wear a trash bag and still be too cute.

Rebecca @ heartland farmhouse said...

I did that same thing with mine last year (omitted our last name)...oops, but hopefully all our friends know us by our first or at least recognize our faces. ;)
i've never tasted a persimmon. sounds divine!

Bree Holloway said...

What a dear to send you those lovelies! I know my day would be brightened by those. :) Oh and the leg warmers? They are already back in style in my book - I wear 'em over my jeans on a regular day basis, what with this chilly weather. :)

Much love,
~Bree

That persimmon looks amazing!

Thinking about 1 year old twins makes me want to take a nap right now. I probably shouldn't do that, though. ;)

Love all your new pretties ;) Glad Sage likes them too! I'm sure your Christmas cards are adorable...no last name and all! Hugs!

So THAT's what those interesting looking "fruits" are in the vegetable aisle? Chinese Persimmons you said? I think I actually did see some in the veggie aisle at Walmart just last week, and wondered about them. Thanks for the recommend! ;-) I know the persimmons that grow in the Southern US can be yummy when ripe, they remind me of a good plum. Which is also something I haven't tasted since I was a small child -- a GOOD plum.

Anyhow, loved this post! Your baby girl is just adorable! And so are you! She must take after you. LOL Hope you guys are having a wonderful Christmas season! I'm trying to post some and get back into bloggy land over Christmas break, now that my grad studies for the fall are done! None till January! Stop in sometime at my blog!

Dove of Snow said...

P.S. what color should the persimmons be for me to know they are ripe and ready to eat?

Also, I added your blog button to my blog! See the bottom of my blog for your button. Just goes to show how much I enjoy reading your blog! :) I do not know how to make a button for my blog for others to grab, I am very, very inexperienced in all of the technical stuff. Wish I knew how, I'd love to have more followers!

That's too funny about your Christmas cards. I actually forgot to include E's BIRTHDATE on her birth announcements. Hello! Luckily I realized it before the person completed the order. Whew!

And I LOVE the playdough/cheerio activity! I hadn't seen that yet. We will definitely be trying it!

I left our last name off of ours, also. Oh, well- our last name is on the front of the envelop...They'll know who we are:) Like your cheerio, toothpick idea- may have to try that over Christmas break if we're snowed in!

What a sweet box of goodies! I love reading your misc monday posts because I usually have written something similiar in my posts (without knowing what you've written!). I think it's funny that you forgot your name on the Christmas card. I would totally do something like that, too. The legwarmers are so funny :) Adorable!
