1. you can tell the marathon registration was last minute by looking at my outfit. not matching at all. also, i woke up at 5:30 am that morning (which never happens) so it was especially straining on my appearance. oh, and the temps were in the mid-30's. my legs went NUMB.
2. thank YOU for your prodding and encouragement. all your words kept me from breaking out in anxiety with only five zits instead of ten.
3. these guys are the reason i ran. so thankful. (please don't get confused, though. short shorts, hat wearing, old man to my left had nothing to do with it.)

kaz - amy - me
(thanks to Hillary G. for the pic!)
4. amy ran the race last year, so i just did everything exactly like she did. they were so patient with all my ridiculous questions. amanda (not pictured) also ran last year (didn't run this year because she is having a baby any day!) and is a marathoner; she gave me strategy tips. which were awesome, but also funny, because my main goal was to finish before my knee gave out. i could hear amanda's voice in my head, telling me to weave and go faster every now and then. thanks girl. : )
5. i ran the first four miles in 27 minutes. hello 6.75 minute miles. but then. at mile five, i started having my occasional knee problems. at that point i was scared to death of not finishing. God carried me, i tell ya. i promise, it's true. after i hit the finish line i was in a euphoric state of dementia. i was freezing cold and stiff and exceptionally excited.

6. i knew i ran it close to two hours. yesterday i checked the official time and it was actually 2:06. and i know some people are thinking, what's six minutes?! it's kind of a lot. running is addicting; you set these goals and feel like you must get there. next year my goal is 1:45, and then the next year i think i will go for a full 26.2 miles.
7. it's really funny because before this race, i said i was not interested in ever running a Full Marathon. something insanely crazy happened and now i want to. amy, you with me?! : )
8. my fan section. my mom and sister showed up as a surprise. sad i didn't get their picture.
9. some of our dearest friends came over this weekend. their baby girl is such a miracle and such a beauty. i could love on her all day.
10. don't we look a like?! olivia and i ate at applebees about six years ago and our waiter was shocked to find out we were not twins or even related. since then, just about everyone tells us we're like the same person. i'm so not complaining! total compliment.

It would be a miracale for me to complete 13 miles in 4 hours, so I'd say 2 is pretty darn good :)
That is a GREAT time! I know what you mean though about the way it feels when you have a certain time in mind and just miss it. You should definitely go for a full marathon. The hardest part is just finding the time to train, when you have kids. So if you can do that, go for it! I'll bet you would do really well.
Good for you!! I always say I am going to start running. Before reading I thought you must be sitting with your sister....you and Olivia look so much alke. Both adorable. Have a good week.
Congratulations!! I highly doubt I could ever achieve that goal, but one can dream!! :)
I love Erin's art...very hard to pick just one piece, but I love the "Be Still and Know That I am God" print!
I like Erin on facebook!
I have subscribed to Erin's newsletter!
way to go, girl!!
That is great time! Especially for the first time...I don't expect to do that well whenever I finally run a half. Great job!
Great job, lady!!! And in 30 degree weather?! I tip my {imaginary} hat to you :)
Yay for you. You can do anything you set your mind to!
I love Erin's artwork. I love the house print that says Abide in me and I'll abide in you.I liked her on faceboook but I didn't see a newsletter sign up. Have a great Monday!!
P.S. You and your friend are both adorable but that baby steals the show!
I AM SO PROUD OF YOU! You did it!! I was thinking of you Saturday morning -- I am sorry that it was so cold. We could never have a run like that here in January. I think it was 6 degrees on Saturday morning. :)
And, lol, I love your addendum about the individual with the short shorts. And, sigh, that made me look. LOL.
You two do look like twins. Crazy, crazy, crazy. And both absolutely beautiful!
Blessings, my friend. My cool running friend.
Rachel
Great job on the marathon!!!!
Erin's work is great! My fave print is the "Be Yourself" one!!
You did it! Love the pictures. You look so happy!
Yes, y'all totally look like twins. And that little baby? Melting my heart. What a doll!
Yay! I am so proud of you!!! That's AWESOME! And you looked amazing. ;) Way to go!
I love the "Surely Goodness and Love" print. So cute!
Woohoo! You're awesome!
I like the I can do all things art piece. She has some cute stuff.
That is awesome, congrats on such a great job!!
Well, I'm beyond impressed! I don't even get the whole running thing, so anyone that runs impresses me. :o) I'll have to stick with the treadmill at this stage in life, but hey, that's better than nothing. You go girl!
Can't believe you have a twin! I mean, it's uncanny how much you two look exactly alike. How funny!
Take care of that knee this week. It seems that all of my friends are having theirs replaced lately and I don't want that for you one day. So far, I've never had any knee problems and I plan to keep it that way.
Blessings sweet friend!
You go girl!!!! My youngest daughter and I had breakfast downtown a couple of weekends ago and watched a full-marathon trickle by for a couple of hours. She is now inspired to do it next year and has already started preparing!
Congrats to you! That is a wonderful accomplishment. My daughter runs marathons so I know how addictive it can be. ME? I TRY to run but seem to have a mental block about it that I'm TRYING to overcome. I'm your newest follower, can't wait to see what else you accomplish :)
Kathy
The site of the finish line and the fact that you made ..... it is the perfect feeling. I can't wait to go back to the streets ; )
Congratulations 1!!!
Congrats on your finish! I'm currently training for a 10K :)
My favorite piece from Erin's shop is the "BETHECHANGE" artwork. It's such a beautiful reminder to look at :)
Congrats, Carissa! What a great time! And I'm loving Proverbs 3:5-6 at art by Erin Leigh :).
Congratulations! I knew you could do it! Good for you- you will get your1:45 next time, I have no doubt!
OK, about the art. I love it all. Her work with quotes and collage is beautiful! So many beauties. A.A. Milne, The Rainbow, the tree one and the Abide one....I know I really loved them all. Nicely chosen quotes, beautiful expression and so soothing to look at. Inspiring!
I "like" her also on facebook. ALso will be linking up later...per usual. Slow coffee morning here!
I'm sooo excited to be linking up with you today for the first time!!! Love the idea of Miscellany Monday!
Congrats to you on your half marathon! :)

You have now run 13.1 miles farther (Farther? Further?) than me! Congrats!! "I ran the first four in 27 minutes" yeah no big deal there... HOLY COW lady!!!! That's awesome!!!

way to go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
reading this is making me want to run & i don't even like running all that much.
Good job! What a way to start the year :)
Way to go! What a cute fan section you had :)
I think my fave in Erin's shop might be the "God Has Bigger Plans for Us.." print, although they are all neat!
whooo hooo! Way to go! I'm pretty sure there is no way i'll run a half-marathon, but I'm glad you did.
great job! I think I may actually start running....maybe:) and you do really look twins!
Awesome! I am so impressed!!! Go you!
Way to go! You inspire me to want to start running again! But how on earth do you find time with your little ones? I only have one and don't seem to have the time!
I tried leaving a comment earlier today, but I just couldn't. I guess that's internet congestion for ya, right? Thankfully, I did manage to link up for the first time. Yay! Anyhow, I really appreciated having this opportunity to do a little randoming musing at the start of the week, and shall look forward to getting to know your readers a little better. BTW, you're awesome for running! I'm the kind of gal who rather stick to the indoors for my cardio routine, especially when the weather is not-so-friendly.
I am in awe of you girl. Seriously running a marathon is not on my list of things to do, although I would love to know that feeling of euphoria. Congrats. So very proud of you!
Congratulations on running, and completing, the marathon! That is really an amazing feat!! You and your friend do look like twins, or sisters at the very least. Her baby girl is just precious!
I absolutely love the art with the quote by A.A. Milne and the one with Philippians 4:13 on it. Both are statements that I've lived by for awhile.
You are super brave for running! I could never do that! Also, I liked Art by Erin Leigh on Facebook and I find it a little ironic that that's my sister's first and middle names.
I also subscribed to her newsletter. :)
Congrats my sweet friend!!! Good job on your half marathon!!! You look soooo good! And you and Olivia DO look a lot alike! :-)
For my entry: I like the kids arts the best, we have the same type on birdies in my girls` bedrooms. I would like putting up inspirational things on the wall for them.
My second entry, I liked her on facebook!
Wow, you are awesome. I feel like having babies has totally messed with my running mojo. With huge breastfeeding breasts I wonder about running a race this year. (like more than a 5K yo!) You look insanely awesome!

this is for amy slavik who is having trouble commenting... she likes the somewhere over the rainbow print!
so proud of you! and so impressed. way to push through the cold (us southern girls can be weenies when it's in the 30s - i know this firsthand!) and the knee problems! how good does that feel to cross a finish line? best. feeling. ever. hope all is well with you:)
I think I missed your deadline, but i'm gonna enter anyway! I have admired Erin's prints for awhile now, small world how it comes full circle to a giveaway on your blog! I love, love, love the rainbow one. I would be fun for Nugget's room! And yay for my comments working again :) Hugs!
