miscellany monday // a new year.

write random and join in below.

1. happy new year.  our last year was an intermingled tapestry of grace and life and good and bad.  it's a joy to know that the One who carried us through the now-knowns of twenty eleven is the same One who will carry us through the unknowns ahead.  i'm not a list-maker/goal setter when it comes to resolutions; i hope to view life through the lens of Christ more than i did yesterday.

2. i'm a newfound fan of deep aqua married with golden mustard yellow.
i mostly blame it on this fantastic jcpenney clearance necklace that my mom found.

3. my oldest niece, taylor (left) turned eight and it's bittersweet, of course.  i go from holding her at one month old, just after kelly and i started dating, to watching her become a young girl.  i love that she will always know me as her aunt since i was there ever since she can remember.  : )

4. the makings of a much anticipated girl's night out.  i had two girl's night's in all of 2011.  this year i'm aiming for three.  ; )
we ate pizza for dinner and talked over coffee for hours.  the fact that we held an adult conversation for that long is impressive considering we have seven kids between us, all four and under.  i love these gals.  and also?  i came home to my man steam cleaning our carpets.  how wonderful can one night be?!
me - julie - beth

5. dreamy comfort.

6. starting off the New Year right with a date night. we cashed in a gift card for dinner, read books, and walked along a pretty pier.
this pier is gorgeous even if it was closed...
so happy my date gets to come home with me every night!
kelly read his Lord of the Rings book and i browsed photography pieces. we recently had a conversation to the effect of getting excited over the length of long books.  in our book, the longer, the better.  we're so cool. ; )

7.  a daily affair.  riding in the car while holding hands. (disclaimer: phone photos)  for the past few days, i turn around and see them like this on their own accord.  {swoon}

First, I simply love the color combination -- and the necklace? Fabulous. I am so glad that you got your girl's night out. If I was closer I'd make sure you at least had 4 of them in a year. I love those hours of chatting and laughing and encouraging that those nights can bring.

And the pics in the car? Absolutely wonderful. Those are the moments that make me so grateful to be a mom. You are blessed, my friend!

So did you go on the pier? Or just stop at the sign? I probably would have walked around the sign and simply walked off. Ha ha ha!

Blessings on your Monday. Be very blessed. And here's to a wonderful 2012, my sweet friend!

Yay for date nights and girls' night out! Both are few and far between when you are parents of little ones. Your kiddos holding hands is just about the sweetest thing ever! Also, most of my nieces and newphews always remember me being married to their uncle. It's neat to know you'll always be a part of their lives. Pretty new color combo. Don't you just love it when you put something new together and it works!?! Happy New Year!

That is the sweetest thing I've ever seen! I probably don't need to clarify, but just in case, the "that" in question is your adorable babies holding hands. Thanks for sharing!

I love girls night out - I rarely get to do it with my friends either - dance and school take up the majority of my time.

Hunter and Sage--too cute!! <3

Good morning and Happy New Year to you. You look beautiful as always in that rich aqua blue color. I think it needs to become a staple in your wardrobe. Of course I like color.
Just wanted to hug and kiss little Hunter and Sage. They do some really sweet things, brotherly sisterly love. I love it!
You have a super guy, aren't you lucky!
Wish I could talk to you today. I'm home alone as Cheryl had to go to work.
Love you,
Grandma

Yes, the necklace is lovely! Of course you like those colors now, too cute. And I love those shoes? Toms? Or Bobs (Have you seen the new Sketchers Toms rip offs? Le sigh. Still for a good cause though I guess.)

And sheesh, carseat hand holding. How adorable is that?

Happy New Year!!

I'm nerdy book reader too. I take lots of suggestions from Buster :) It always seems to surprise people...which could be a bad thing I guess. I usually get mistaken for a cheerleader than a nerdy book reader :)

Oh my goodness that's adorable!! I love them holding hands.

I think you need to shoot for 5 (yes, 5) girls nights this year. AND! 6 date nights. It may sound like a high goal, but I know you can do it. :)

You look so so cute by the way, love the color combo and your date night look.

Your children are so precious!!! I can't imagine turning around and seeing such sweetness. I really love your TOMS... but do they smell like burlap? Is that weird? I love burlap but sometimes it smells haha. I really don't think I had more than 5 girls nights last year, maybe I have found a suitable goal for the new year.

Happy New Year Carissa!

LOVE the pics of the kids holding hands. Oh my! So sweet!

3 friends with 7 kids under 4. You are BLESSED to have such friends. I was 28 when my 6th child was born (6 in 6 years), and a girlfriend of mine was 26, with 5 kids (5 in 6 years). You should have seen the looks on peoples faces when we went out with our 11 children under 7 years old. Oh. Yes. We. Did. We would pile into my 15 passenger van and head out on adventures, often. The park ranger at Mt. Ranier wanted to charge us commercial rates because he just would not believe that we weren't a daycare. Fun memories!

Glad you got a date night for New Years.

Blessings,

Laurel :)

The pic of the little ones holding hands makes me tear up. I'm so thankful you captured that pic. When my oldest were in 2nd and Kinder they would walk to the car every day holding hands and I remember thinking at the time I needed to capture that moment because I knew it was fleeting. Needless to say, I never got the pic. So glad you did. blessings
