it makes the world smaller

blogging, that is. sometimes around my real life friends i feel like a nerdy school girl all over again that is embarrassed because i have that awful boy haircut. i'll admit, when i talk about my online friends to my real life friends i feel like a loser. i do have more real life friends than internet friends so that ought to count for something?

it is really a big deal when a blog friend becomes a real life friend. two worlds collide more than just through words on a computer screen. it can be kind of scary, someone meeting you for the first time who knows so much about you already. i must say though, so far so good. i met Rachel from Finding Joy last summer, the Rachel from Minnesota who i thought i'd never get a chance to meet. then we end up in the same city having lunch together and on the same flight out of town?? i mean, get out of town. it was God inspired that's certain.

take two, kinda. i got an email from Elena, saying she moved close by and thought we would hit it off. turns out, she was totally right on. we've hung out a few times and always dream of seeing each other more.

plus, we both have the same camera and lens so it is truly destiny. also? she takes pictures of everything like i do and neither of us have to feel weird about it around each other. score!

Elena moved a few months ago, so i had to take pictures of her new digs. i love her eclectic, vintage style. it's so pretty to me. she is also the queen of thrifting. the girl that tells you she bought a chair for $5 or a dresser for $15 and they're entirely fantastic? that's her.

her clothing style is super cool. when i'm around her i feel like a frumpy old lady. she wears things that are in style.  i don't really. so i take a lot of tips from her just by staring at her jewelry and peeking into her closet. she's totally cool with. : )

the $15 dresser that i am so jealous over:

Elena is the mama to two boys.  she created simple spaces for them that are cute but still all boy.

the best part is that Elena actually makes the stuff she pins from pinterest! ((unlike me))
the branch with hanging canvasses... gorgeous. she mod podged the pictures on the canvases and used a sponge with black paint to make it look like it was actually printed on canvas. genius!
the chalkboard desk made out of a crib. my favorite thing evah!
she also got this vintage kid's table for just dollars. jealous again.
the cool part? our boys are all friends, too.
and her boys are melt-worthy!

her Luca, my Hunter. buds.

more pretties!

the moral of this blogging turned real life friendship story? blogging makes the world smaller. and brings you new friends. a definite win-win. Pin It

you can't be more right on! blogging does make the world smaller and does bring new friends! I have made so many friends through blogging! It is so awesome when you can actually connect words on a screen with actually talking to the person etc. It makes you nervous at first but what is so funny is that you feel as if you have known the person forever since they know more about you than probably your irl friends do lol. I love that you met her and ya'll have so much in common. her inspirations are awesome. the crib desk idea is fantabulous. I love that chair and I am with you on that desk! totally jealous! how awesome your boys are good friends now!

I LOVE this post :) haha! Girl...so with you... I too get a little embarassed talking about online friends. I mean...kind of weird right? But SO AWESOME :)
The funny part about online friends is it's kind of like online dating... you can find people who have common interests and likes as you... :) haha!
Hope your wednesday is good with your sweet babes!

Some of my best IRL friends are ones that I first met online. I love how God teaches us to look outside the box to see what He has for us!

Her house is amazing, but I don't believe the part about you looking frumpy! You always look SO CUTE!

Indeed, blogging is such a neat thing! I met my closest friend through my blog and we've been soul sisters ever since. ;)

Aw, your photographs are so lovely! I especially love the ones of the boys.

Oh, and I also wanted to thank you so much for leaving the sweet note in my garden walk! I appreciate it ever so much, and am happy to see a "new face" at my blog. ;)

Many blessings,

What a beautiful home! Love all the repurposed and creative items! I recently got to meet a fellow blogger and it was awesome. I totally know what you mean when you say you feel nerdy talking about your online friends though! Haha.

I agree! I sometimes feel a bit strange talking about friends online but I quickly get over that because to be honest my online friends are often more encouraging than my Real Life Friends! Also, I am the only one with a blog or at least the only one who blogs regularly so they just don't get it. If I ever meet an online friend I think it would be great because they get it!! Your friends home is beautiful and the kiddos are too!

So awesome that you have gotten to meet up with two of your bloggy friends! What a treasure to be able to call them "real life" friends as well. I hope to meet up with some one day if I can find any in Pittsburgh like me :)

Isn't it wonderful how that works? I had the privilege of meeting a blog friend last year and we hit it off!

I love when blog friends become real friends too! I have a few, and even though we have never met, I confide in them, have skype dates, and send each other sweet little things just like I do with the rest of my friends.
Her house looks so beautiful! Also, I totally don't think you dress like a frump! You are beautiful, woman!

I still remember the first time Becky from Farmgirl Paints and I hung out in real life- we were both snapping photos of EVErYThing, and kept apologizing until we realized that we were exactly the same about our blog photos and then we laughed and took even more photos. It feels so good to have friends who GET you. She has great taste too! And such darling hair. My word. Cute.

Oh, this post just made me excited about our getting to meet each other in April. I, too, have had the privilege of meeting 3 blogging friends and it was such a great experience and I look forward to adding you to my list.

Love, loved hearing about Elena and her flair for decorating. How cool! I bet y'all were like "two peas in a pod" with all that creativity brewing between you.

Happy day dear!

I definitely feel like a nerd talking about my blog friends to my local friends. If you don't blog, ya just don't get it. I have a small list of blog friends that I can't wait to meet in person!
I am happy for you that you were able to hang out with one of your bloggy friends. And I love her fun vintage style!

ok, lovely friends. truly a gift.

i LOVE the bonus of friendship found in blogging!
i am so blown away by the genuine hearts that HE has knit to mine through the foolishness of the internet.
LOVE it. thanks for sharing this sweetness.
and some day, some sweet day, we will have a hug and a laugh. or a cry, depends on the day, i guess;)

love you, make it a great day!

i've met a couple of gals that i know from blogging. one was even nicer in person than she even seems on her blog and since we live in the same city we run into each other shopping at target sometimes. although i do think it is weird telling non-bloggers about your blog friends. everyone seems to think it's normal to marry someone from e-harmony....why is it so weird to make friends with someone who has a blog. it's waaaayy less weird to me!

you both are adorable...congrats on a new friendship!

she has the BEST house. think she'd notice if the whole thing went missing? :)

i call my online friends my 'imaginary friends,' but it's one of the sweetest moments when they become real. God works in mysterious ways, indeed.

Oh what fun to meet someone just like you! I was just thinking of you the other day because my hubby works some in Charleston and I get to come down with him. We'll have to figure out a playdate.

When I met Alicia it was the same way... relief that someone else is as strange as I am! :)

Girl, I wanna jump on a plane and come hang out with you and take lots of pictures and not feel stupid haha :)
It would be so much FUN to meet you!! I think I might try to convince my hubs to buy an old vw bus and we could cruise across the states and meet all my blogging buddies...how could he say no?!

Wow! What a sweet house! I love that baby bed she turned into a desk with a chalkboard table! no way!!
