back to yesterday. it was the day that my Hunter boy gave me a sheer fright when his fever read 105.8. so i think: he must have a rare disease and is going to die in my arms in the next twenty-ish minutes. by the grace of God and some motrin, he lived! after bats of throw up, i think he is prayerfully on the mend. i am hoping sister girl stays well. it is seriously hilarious to note that she (being well) was 90 times more crabby than Hunter with a 105.8 fever. go figure. #girlsaremoody
being particularly moody and prone to loving comfort, Sage is the princess of pacis. she broke all her old ones, so this was to be the week we said goodbye to those teeth killing, chin rash brewing things. except for the fact that i found a paci pack for 18-36 month olds and fell victim to it. you should have seen her smile when she saw them. all day yesterday i cherished my paci purchase decision... i comforted my boy and the pacis mostly comforted my girl. good decision? yes.
as sad as it is when my babes are sick, it does feel like more initiation into motherhood. and that is sweet to me. life is good. raising kids is work. but it is mostly a joy. just like marriage. and life. so many joys, pointing back to our Giver at the very root of it all.
did you notice that my watermarks are having an identity crisis?? i did too and i'm not sure what to do about it. i don't know what i like, that's what the problem is.
one more thing. as cool as blogging is, i don't want to lose sight of tangible memories, like printing pictures or saving notes. i like scrapbooking, but it takes money and time, both of which are pricey. instead, i am creating a monthly collage of our happenings and then will print them all out for a simple, 12 page album highlighting our 2012. genius? completely. thank rebecca. she thought of it all. here's our january (this was done in picnik and isn't my favorite...eek... because i can't for the life of me figure out collages with more than three photos in photoshop elements. if you know, tell me. i'll give you a very polite thank you.):

Sorry to hear about sickness, and no wheat or dairy? Ouch. But at least, in the long run, you'll feel much better! love the monthly collage idea! and that picture of Sage is so precious.
What's your diagnosis? I hate that for you. Being a carb addict myself I can only imagine how hard it is. I can't even control myself enough to count carbs to control this prenancy weight gain. Ick. So proud of you for the half-marathon. I'm thinking that's going to be on my 40 by 40 list. Eight years is long enough to train, right? and we are still addicted to our paci. I figure if I take it away now she'll just steal baby gus's come May.
i love this idea of having a picture collage to capture each month :)
We started a gluten free diet last year because of my hubby's tummy problems, it took a while to get the hang of it, but he feels so much better. Try Chex cereal, some of them are GF!
I know that Grace over at Lollipops and Cupcakes is pretty well versed with photoshop. It might be worth it to ask her! :)

Love the collage!
I can't imagine having to cut out wheat and dairy...but I'm sure you'll find some new favorites soon!
Bless your heart, sweet friend. We've been battling the stomach bug all.week.long. First Sprig, then myself, and Hubby last night. So praying my Q doesn't end up with it. ;(
Bummer about the wheat and dairy, and everything else. I bet once you get a good routine down, you'll be able to have those things occasionally. {hugs}
Love the collage idea! I've been doing a photo book for every season, but even with coupons those things are expensive! But, I guess even $100 a year is cheaper than doing the full-fledge scrapbok thing.
Head over to Coffee Tea and Photography (I think it's a .com site now) and download her storyboard actions. She has TONS of great ones, for free!
I am so sorry about your little sicky... Poor baby!
I hope he feels smashing soon.
Go ahead and eat the cheerios. You aren't going to die no matter what the dr's say.
105 is a HIGH fever!! so glad he was able to kick it! my two little ones are sick too and i was trying to hold out and not go to the dr, but i'm taking them in a bit...first sick dr. visit in almost TWO YEARS! i guess it had to happen sooner or later.
about the pacis...you gotta do whatcha gotta do sometimes. she's not going to go to college with it. we hope ;) she'll be fine. and you'll be sane!
and yeah for jumping on the month collage bandwagon...so cool, huh?? I just ordered photoshop elements and now you've got me all nervous that i won't be able to figure it out. please tell me it's not that complicatied...besides the collage part! :)
Oh, something must be in the air. My Clancy boy kept his parents up all night last night throwing up. It was a big yuck night for them to say the least. They are to go out of town this afternoon but just not sure that's going to happen.
Sorry to hear of your tummy troubles, we're "two peas in a pod" on that one. I'm on an elimination diet right now per my Gasro Dr. Ugh!
Wishing for you a relaxing and restful weekend! Hugs!
Poor little Hunter! I'll pray for him & your family.
Ahh, I'm still in love with that picture of Sage with with flower. So gorgeous.
hugs,
~bree
Oh no, poor Hunter! Weren't you JUST saying that you've never had to deal with throw up? You must have forgotten to knock on wood. High temps like that are sooo scary. Glad he is on the mend. Now its my turn to pray for you and that the rest of you stay healthy! hugs!
Hope you're lil' man is feeling better today. I too have a sick wee one, and I am enjoying the extra cuddle time. Have a wonderful weekend!!
ugh i feel for you friend...our house has been one of sick since nov...and we are never ever sick...we recently just had lily and reid both with 101-102 fevers and horrible coughs...scares a momma to death when they go that high.....esp when my once loud running wild lily sits on couch all day sleeping saying 'mommy i'm sick' ....boooo (and omg i can sit for a spell haha)
I love the monthly scrapbook-on-your-blog idea because I agree that paper scrapbooking is very pricey & time consuming! I also love the idea of printing out each month! Fantastic! I hear the Picnik website was closing in April?!?
ahhh a sweet but sad post...hope everyone is feeling better!! love that idea about scrapbooking!
Love the photo collage idea...genious! Hope the kiddos are feeling better real soon. Blessings Carissa!
How did I miss that you got twitter?! Just followed you! Hope Hunter feels better!! :/what's going on with you? A food allergy? Lol I can never decide how I want to watermark :/ hope you have a great weekend!!!
oh my goodness!
i am so glad that your sweet ones fever is going down!
poor baby!
and i looove your collage!
i'm gonna have to do that, too! :)
xo
are you having allergic reactions to food? that is A LOT of foods to cut out! i sure hope you're not! :)
High fevers always freaked me out of my mind like that too.
And girl what is up with your health?? Is there some reason you can't eat 800 foods? I hope YOU'RE okay!
Love your attitude about taking care of your littles- prayers for speedy healing!
I am so glad that Hunter is alright!!! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!! xoxo
Oh my goodness, I'm so glad that he is feeling better. That really is dangerously high. I hope baby girl doesn't get it too.
Have yourself a wonderful relaxing weekend with lots of chocolate!
LeAnna is on the money w/the collage website. There's another one I can't remember where she offers several collage templates for PSE that are free as well. I went to download them, but I'm retarded and couldn't figure it out and gave up..cause sometimes PSE makes me give up. haha
Seriously, that fever is horrible!! Question...because I really don't know, at what point does he need to go to the hospital? Or would they do the exact same thing you did? Motrin? #cluelesswonderhere
Would you like me to talk to your Dr. about the foods he's forcing you to stop eating? I will...I will!!
Emily at Amazing Grapes
Calvin used to be a total paci junky. He sucked that thing all night long. Never, ever lost it. It stayed clamped in there for a good 12 hours straight. Eeek. He was 3 before we "shipped them off to babies in Africa who didn't have a paci". ;)
aww, hopefully your babies are feeling better. that fever must have been scary!
I'm loving that idea for each month. You did good on your collage. I love it!
Saw this on facebook and thought of you :)

I hope Hunter continues to be on the mend! Poor guy! And I hope sister stays well...paci and all. :)
And the collage idea?! Super smart!
praying all stay well in your house.
yep. we girls are moody. i am way crabby when sick. shameful!
great reminder! these things are work. often exhausting, but, oh the joy reaped! praise jesus for his strength and grace. press on.
sorry for your weird diet.
also sorry we BOTH are not at blissdom.
next year??
xo happiest weekend to you, cutie face.
Please, oh, please, oh, please share your collage wisdom when you figure it out! I've wanted to do that for a long time. Alas, I've yet to get around to it, so I'm counting on you. :)
Re. fevers - I forget sometimes that they are there for a good reason - to fight off and kill the bad stuff in the body! So by now I keep my kids comfortable w/ Tylenol, but don't take the "kill the fever at all costs and freak out about" approach. The approach I took when I had just one child, many moons ago.
Once he was in the hospital for major surgery as a baby, fever of 104 and was unable to suck/nurse. Frightening stuff - so glad I was in the hospital. But I remember he once had the sniffles with a high fever of 104 and was acting quite normal.
My point? It helps to just notice their behavior. You know we have 8 kids and I rarely use a thermometer by now.
Enough from me - hope you get used to this new diet and find things you can enjoy despite the restrictions! :) Have a great weekend!
hoping everyone feels better! praying :)
ok girl...what's the deal?? i just came back to look at your collage again and you totally made it more collage-y. did you do that in photoshop? do you have tips for newbies? I love it! :)
I hope your sweet lil man is better! High fevers scare me too.
I am getting Photoshop elements for my anniversary next week so if I figure it out I will pass it on! I took photoshop classes in college so I hope it comes back to me :) Have a great weekend!
xo
Hope everyone is starting to feel better around your house! I've been GF for several years now if you need any help on brands to find. Eating GF can be a little bit expensive, so buying in bulk or going to some places like Big Lots to buy the brands I already know has been a lifesaver. :) Good luck to you! :)
Might I ask what diet plan you are doing, or what the diagnosis is? I think I might be headed in the same direction.
Your children are gorgeous! But you knew that already. Hope Hunger is feeling better soon! And praying everyone else stays well.
I am so sorry you had that scare with your little guy. And I am glad you are sweating the pacifier thing. She's not going to use it forever. Bummer about the diet. UGH. We were GFCF for 6 months (son has autism) and it got easier after a few months. Hang in there!
That should be not sweating! : ) Happy weekend to you.
praying your baby love is feeling better! and I know the whole paci/no paci thing (going through it right now). You are SUCH A GREAT MOM!
So sorry for your sickness. Somehow we have avoided all the stomach bugs going around.
