miscellany monday: farmgirl paints giveaway/exciting stuff!

this week i have a story to tell, exciting news to share, and a fantastic giveaway for you.

a story to tell...

there's this blogger that i have always had a crush on. way back when i first started blogging, i came across Farmgirl Paints and fell hard for her honest words, pretty pictures, amazing paintings, art and jewelry. she is creative in all forms and inspires me to be the same. almost two years ago, she started a photography class and shared all that she learned with her readers. it was then, that i had an itch to learn and take pictures. i dusted off my hubby's ancient Canon 10D and started going to it. not only do i now call her friend, she is the one that got me started on photography... thank you Becky!!! all that to say, you never know who you will inspire, what that inspiration will birth, and how it can change the shape of someone's life. all because Becky chose to create art. so cheers to art and creating... it's so valuable, it brings order out of this chaotic world and reflects the Creator.

almost two years after Becky inspired me with photography, i am branching out and making things official. let me also add, that i owe gobs of thankfulness to my friend, Amy. she has stood along side me and coached me during weddings and portrait sessions and has taught me so much about the business. i'm grateful for her willingness to share information and experience. all that to say, always be willing to help others. she could have called me a wannabe. instead she embraced me and taught me.  i can't wait to do the same one day, to give back.

exciting news to share...
today is a very big day for Carissa G. Photography. i may have butterflies inside, my heart is on my sleeve, out there for the taking, and i'm trying to choose rest and faith over nerves and stress. we'll see how that goes... here's to hoping. ; ) anyways, without further adieu, everything is going live... da da dum...

i'll be completely honest, the scariest part is the facebook stuff. starting a day with zero likes and going live means there's only one way to go... up. ha! i'm not entirely used to having a business mind, and promoting my business doesn't come naturally. but, hello. facebook is free and a dang fantastic way to spread the word.
