1. friday after hunter's preschool Christmas program and party, he brought this to me, bright eyed and proud, exclaiming, "mom, i made this for you, it's my handprint!" then i came home an hour later and heard about the horror in Connecticut. i stared at this treasure a little longer with teary eyes and pain in my heart. life is so tragic at times, doesn't make sense, and is hard to process. but i know the One who is on the Throne and He is good, kind, and the God of all comfort. it is comforting to know that He is close to the broken-hearted. may this serve to remind us to love deeper, live freer, and never take the breath we have been given for granted.

3. it was such a joy to take these pictures after a weekend of sad news. love is still alive. God is gracious to continue to redeem and make whole and make new. this family is as beautiful as they come and such a testimony to God's love for all of us.
4. today's miscellany is short. it only seems appropriate. and as a matter of book-keeping: there will be no miscellany monday next week. it will be Christmas Eve and i'm certain we have more important things to be attending to. : )
happy monday, let's rejoice and be glad for this gift of a day we have been given. grab the button and join in.
